We've family in a northern city, some in the NHS, some in the police. You're quite correct it's not public knowledge in the main. Sometimes for privacy reasons, sometimes sub judice. FB local pages are more revealing as are other social media outlets. But the press don't report it all.

Let's just say im privy to the statistics and facts in matters such as these.
Lots of serious incidents are kept from the public so as to minimise public unrest and outrage, and thankfully so.
Please elaborate why your posts are quite negative in your responses to other posters voicing their concerns surrounding these issues about the UK.

As I say… nonsense that you are privy to stats that reveals there are many serious incidences that are shushed away and not revealed to the public. If there is a a victim and there is a perpetrator and the latter is found guilty… there is NO way of stopping the existence of the incidence (not necessarily all the details) being released to the public.

I agree with this. There are plenty of media outlets that would be only too pleased to cover these stories, and our laws are firmly on the side of transparency so there is no legal reason for cover-ups to be common. Our free press simply does not work that way. The only thing that might be happening is that ahead of court hearings and prosecution, details are limited to ensure a fair trial. And that is so that criminals are not able to be released on a technicality, or re-tried costing thousands of pounds.

Incidentally, I've worked in policing for more than two decades, so have a pretty good idea about how the justice system works.

Completely agree. There are a lot of malovent groups seeking to cause division for their own gain. Farage would happily see his country burn to fund his pockets. With any growing underclass, there are growing issues, whether the underclass be illegal immigrants, refugees, or teenagers in Middlesborough. Stopping the boats will not stop the underclass from growing any more than Brexit did. Recognising we live in an interconnected world and are not an island fortress (unless we wish to collectively starve to death) would help. Pretending there are simple solutions to illegal immigration and that it’s just a few pointless, outdated, silly laws and conventions getting in the way of common sense, does not help. Everything we do and decide as a country has an impact elsewhere and therefore creates reactions elsewhere that are frequently not favourable to our interests, and actions by others elsewhere create issues that scupper our attempts to improve our lot here and force us to react to the external forces rather than be able to focus on our internal problems.

Focusing on a subsection of the symptoms of the problems we face is just looking for bogeyman to focus on, so we can ignore the complex reality of the situation we are actually in, and so the psychopaths who don’t care about anything but themselves, not even their own descendants, can profit from our idiocy. Absolutely nowhere in the world is a safe haven. As all countries come under growing pressure, for whom they feel they have any responsibility, and who they think is an expendable pain in the arse, will shift, and then you will have to think about whether being in a country that only cares about you for as long as you are economically useful to it, and which could one day view you as an enemy alien, is a safe place to be. Is it safe to be somewhere long term where you have not actively sought citizenship? Or somewhere you would not actually want to be a citizen? Is it reasonable to think it’s OK, because when you are no longer economically useful, you can go to your home country to be an economic drain there?

I’ve lived and worked in many countries - America, Australia, Asia. I have friends still in all those countries and although I haven’t lived and worked in continental Europe I have many good friends who do now. They ALL have increasing problems with their economies, natural disasters, crime, youth mental health, health services. I remember being in a friend’s car and going opening the glove compartment to get a tissue, to be faced with a hand gun. Like it was an ordinary thing in that country. I’ve seen abject poverty in many countries. I just about survived with my life as a typhoon that took the roof off my house as I sat in it. Ever looked at the sky and thought you were about to die in that moment? I have. I now live back in the UK where I was born and raised and it’s wonderful. It’s safe from many things. It’s English speaking so good for work
globally. It’s green and lush. It has the most incredible old architecture. You can fly to many other countries for an alternative culture hit at the drop of a hat. The Lakes. My gosh the lakes are breath taking. It has its problems. But so does the rest of the world.
