Dh says the U.K is f***** and he never wants to go back

These were his words this morning. We live abroad in a place where a lot of people are coming to live, escaping the uk and America. He says with everything on the news, the way it's going and what the people coming to where we are tell him, that we'd be mad to return. Is he being realistic? I want to return to be with family desperately and have a strange feeling that I need to do it soon Would we be mad to return at this time? If yes, then when!

What’s the part you are not understanding? It’s easier and safer to get from the countries people are fleeing from into Europe than it is to get all the way to Australia, as they are geographically closer and easier to get to, so far easier to put them off heading to Australia than to Europe. Europe also doesn’t have as many convenient underpopulated large islands near its coastlines to shove migrants onto while they are being processed.

What’s the part you are not understanding? It’s easier and safer to get from the countries people are fleeing from into Europe than it is to get all the way to Australia, as they are geographically closer and easier to get to, so far easier to put them off heading to Australia than to Europe. Europe also doesn’t have as many convenient underpopulated large islands near its coastlines to shove migrants onto while they are being processed.

@soddingspiderseason what I'm actually trying to achieve is pressure on the government to stop making policy for the benefit of absolutely anyone other than the UK: the country they are elected to represent.

It could get a bit tense if we just dumped immigrants back on their beaches, but we would presumably speak to France first.

Tbh, we're pushing at an open door. All the EU countries have problems with illegal immigration. It's not sustainable, and it's getting worse - see Ceuta. Things are going to change.

I am asking you about the UK and Europe - I have already pointed out it is a fantasy to pretend Australia’s behaviour in 2013 can be replicated in the English Channel in 2026. We can’t send our unwanted immigrants to the same places Australia sent theirs back to - it’s a bit far removed.
