Lindsay Clancy was let down

hds873banana · 14/08/2026 10:47

For those of you who may not know, Lindsay Clancy is an American mother who killed her three children (all under age 5) then tried to commit suicide by throwing herself out of a window, and is now wheelchair bound as a result. Her defence is she was in the throws of post natal psychosis.

You can watch the full trial on Court TV. The trial is ongoing now.

She was totally let down by the system, the doctors, maybe even her husband. I’ve never watched a full trial and been so appalled at what I am seeing and hearing. Kevin Reddington her lawyer needs an award.

It is interesting to me because I have a close relative who I’ve cared for for over a decade who is regularly in psychosis. The lack of understanding of psychosis generally is wild. I My relative can slip in and out of psychosis on a minute by minute basis some days.

I really hope Lindsay’s defence lawyer gets the best outcome for her even though her life is completely ruined whatever the outcome of the trial.

I think she will be found not guilty by reason of insanity

LabradorOwner9 · 30/08/2026 21:52

Anybody who kills is unwell.

Hers was an act of savagery, of such inhumanity, that she must be punished to the fullest extent. just observe her demonic eyes.

The fact that she’s being supported, for tribal reasons is jaw droppingly evil.

I urge you all to wake up!

marle131 · 30/08/2026 21:57

She’s absolutely guilty and if I was on the jury I’d be sticking by Murder 1 (as they say). I’ve watched a lot of the trial and started off buying the PR about her having PPP and being let down. But there’s absolutely no evidence for it whatsoever. A clear murder suicide. Everyone on TikTok has lost the plot.

😂The only person who knows if she is ‘absolutely guilty’ is Lindsay Clancy herself. Makes me laugh when people say such things. You might ‘think’ she is guilty. But you can’t state she IS guilty. Well not without sounding hysterical with a complete lack of knowledge about psychosis.

Just thought I'd check in here to see what the Mumsnet consensus would be around LC.

We're very different to the US, and I thought I'd see that reflected.

Quite frankly, I am terrified by what I've read here.

Hang your heads in shame.

Solidarity with Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, eight months.

Have you had psychosis?

We’re on about a woman with PPP and how little help she received. This was from pregnancy, so no this isn’t really an argument for a dad.

A man with MH issues would be accused of 'playing the MH card' and people would very much use family annihilator to describe him.

Men and women get psychosis. Men and women get varying degrees of help via MH services.

I listened to every word of the trial. There here is evidence that LC was seriously mentally unwell ,over medicated and under medically supervised, there is evidence she had intrusive thoughts of harming herself and her children (her husband and mother in law testified to that) But to be honest thats not relevant because in this trial in the state of Massachusetts the burden of proof is on the prosecution to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that LC wasn't suffering PPP and did NOT lack criminal responsibility, i have doubt about that and i think some of the Jury will have doubt too.As it has to be a unanimous verdict ,i think LC will be found NGRI.

Because of the reverse burden maybe they will find her NGRI, or perhaps more likely be hung, but I think the CW did prove beyond reasonable doubt she didn’t have PPP. And it’s the psychosis element - rather than being mentally unwell which she was and they accept - that is the key to the lack of criminal responsibility. It would be very very rare occurrence upon very very rare occurrence if she had had psychosis. Only for 18 mins, never before or since, not resisting the command, able to have a lucid phone call during, saying “I tried to kill myself” when Patrick arrived, no accompanying delusions etc. Plus you’d have to ignore the obvious evidence of premeditation that day. It feels pretty clear to me that this was a murder suicide (gone wrong) and a lot of people would like to believe it could only have been PPP because she’s a white middle class woman who liked to project a certain image of motherhood. Obviously yes only she knows exactly what or why happened, but so far she’s had tons of inconsistencies in her stories, and I can’t help but question why she’s got a civil suit against her (very competent) providers, plus this trial. If I’d woken up and realised I’d killed all my kids, I’d want to be locked up for life.

UserDownTheRoad · 31/08/2026 10:42

Most murderers had horrible things happen to them in childhood which caused their brains to develop certain tendencies, and a lot are addicted to drugs or alcohol, so should they all be excused as well?

It’s not them it’s their brain.

Imbusytodaysorry · 31/08/2026 10:47

She is innocent!
I’ve watched the trial and it’s so clear to see . Reddington is right . There was NO investigation .
”Patrick said “

Imbusytodaysorry · 31/08/2026 10:49

allthingsinmoderation · 14/08/2026 12:25

This is a tragic case. Those poor little children!
I think there is no doubt that Lindsay Clancy was a severely mentally ill woman, who was over medicated and under supervised by Drs.
I know the trial is about wether she was of sound mind when she killed the children or not rather than wether she killed them, but i cant help wondering why the only evidence that she killed the children is that this clearly ill woman said she did. Is that reliable ?

She has never said she did though!
Patrick said “she said “ she was so out it on drugs . Drugged by him ? I believe he through her out the window. .
Who jumps out a window head first ?

It’s so strange that her dna wasn’t on all murder weapons and he was happily married again within months of it!

He didn't start dating until well over a year after he moved to NY. 2 years later they moved in together. 3 years later they married. He MOVED after 4 months and who wouldn't want to move from the place that held the horrors of what happened. He's a victim. Is he meant to be alone and tormented for the rest of his life? If you're going to state things get the facts straight. Re married a "few months later" is not even sort of true.

Lindsay is very ill. It's sad. but legally I would have to say she knew what she was doing and carried on. She didn't hear voices, her lawyers told her to say that she did. LC refused inpatient care and told her husband she was ok with the kids when he put it to her that she might not be. She carried on trying to be Miss Perfect and control everything. The support was there for her to ask for a break and she didn't take it. And she wanted a 4th child! So unrealistic. She wasn't all there upstairs, but she wasn't legally insane. So guilty is the verdict for me.

The problem is surely that he believed someone who was known to be very ill. Very, very odd.

OneMauveOP · 31/08/2026 10:54

I'm so sick of hearing about this horrible, sickening murder! And the pink t shirt fan girls! She's sick and needs help that's clear. But this conspiracy theory shite is ridiculous! Her lawyer is BRUTAL! He's a VERY good defence attorney.
If there was even a chance Patrick was involved in any way he'd have used it.

There is absolutely no evidence she experienced psychosis. Postpartum depression yes, psychosis no.

So everyone with any sort of mental illness, anxiety, depression, gets carte blanche for triple homicide?

I’ve lived with a person with psychosis for a decade. LC has all the hallmarks.

Go on then, explain. Because none of the many medical professionals she saw picked up on it nor did her husband or any of her family members. She claims she heard a voice ONCE coincidentally just after her husband left the house to run errands she asked him to do. She even spoke to him while he was out and seemed perfectly fine. When in fact she was killing their children.

She killed her children. I don't think you realise exactly what she did. She took those exercise bands and strangled her babies to death. It didn't take seconds. It took minutes. They struggled. They fought to live when their own mother was m murdering them. And she managed to talk calmly to their father during this. Maybe you couldn't hear the testimony over her wailing (which fascinatingly didn't happen when the same evidence was given at pre-trial hearings. No problem holding it together then but she bawls when the jury is present).

You are so uneducated and ignorant about psychosis it’s making me cringe with second hand embarrassment for you.

Medics often don’t see the psychosis. Because it can change, wax and wane in seconds and minutes. My mother was in psychosis on and off for several years. By the time any ambulances or medics arrived on the scene she could be perfectly normal again. I was banging my head against a brick wall for years trying to get her help. Imagine that. YEARS. I’m a strong advocate for her. I know my stuff. I know the mental health system. And still it took years to get it recognised. Palmed off repeatedly with ‘She’s just depressed’ by every single mental health doctor we came across. Most doctors have never spent any time with someone in psychosis. They just haven’t. My DM has zero control over her thoughts, actions and feelings when a psychotic episode floods her brain and disrupts the chemicals. She has done the most unbelievable things when in psychosis. I used to cry and pull my hair out and beg her not to do them. She’d apologise and do the exact same thing in the next episode. It’s like watching a slow motion car crash that you can’t control. Anybody is capable of murder when their brain chemistry is off. You included. My DM was distraught after some of her episodes and what she had done. They had LC on 17 different meds that impact your thought processes. My DM heard voices for years and told no one because she was scared she’d be locked up if she did.

I sincerely hope you never get psychosis. And by the way, it’s common in dementia, and as we are all living longer it’s likely many of us will get it. So good luck with it if you do. Just pray you have a strong advocate for you. Because you’ll need it.

Is it true that Lindsay Clancy's starsign is a Leo and Patrick is a Gemini? This is just wrong on so many levels, the patriarchy must fall.

'My mother was in psychosis on and off for several years. By the time any ambulances or medics arrived on the scene she could be perfectly normal again'

Sorry about your mother but there's 'waxing and waning' and there's making stuff up depending on your audience.

I would guess most peoppe who kill are 'mentally unwell' compared to the rest of us. That should never be an excuse. She killed 3 defenceless innocent kids then made a half arsed attempt allegedly to kill herself.

I don't care what made her do it but it was clearly planned and horrific and I hope the jury find her guilty of murder.
