There seems to be very little awareness on this thread of contemporary discourse around racism and definitions.

Surely the most egregious incident is the police investigating a journalist for doing his job. We know they go after people for tweets. Now they're going after journalists.

Completely agree. Also there is an ignorance of the structural nature of racism. Everything is seen in terms of individuals on one hand, gross generalisations on the other.

There are a lot of people who must have also enabled his behaviour. A lot of people are to blame. What a mess.

Did none of the students who he lectured to not realise that something was amiss?

I read that one complained and was ignored and criticised as being racist.

To add in intelligent comment to the polarised discussion maybe? Because one recognises that the history of the slave trade is not as simplistic as many seem to think doesn't make one 'defensive', just better informed.

There were multiple complaints made about the supervision he provided. As a PP mentioned the students were dismissed as racists. I believe some students are asking for their grades to be re-examined and there is debate on "law tube" about whether former students have grounds for suing the university.

Racism has been the theme for many posters on this thread. The ones who use the abhorrent expression 'playing the race card', for example.

Arday introduced race when he wanted to silence people getting closer to his lies.

Two things can be true at once. He can be a victim of racism but also guilty of lying about his achievements.

Would this be possible in a STEM subject? Surely University professors should actually have to understand what they are talking about in order to get and keep their job?
