Letting newborn cry for a little while - dealing with other children?

I have a beautiful 1 month old DD who I adore but (like most babies) she likes to be held and is in her cluster feeding phase. I am seriously struggling mentally with keeping up with her cues and needs whilst looking after my 3 year old DS who also is clingy and likes to be with me and needs my attention.

Although I do have her in the carrier sometimes, I can’t do this all day plus we are in a heatwave.

I have read it is absolutely OK to leave a newborn to cry for 5-10 mins as long as they are in a safe space. I honestly feel like if I did this a few times a day it would save my mentally. Hearing her cry breaks my heart but I’m finding things difficult

YABU. You absolutely can and should wear your baby. Leaving them to cry even for a few mins is not acceptable.

Sometimes your baby will cry for a little while youre busy doing something else and of course thats ok. I very much doubt you'd leave her for anything like 10mins before going to her so I'm ignoring that bit!

Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby 😊

No way would I do this. A couple of mins while you're helping the three year old go to the toilet, but I'd still be fast. Ten mins is a very long time for a tiny distressed baby. Mine lived in the carrier and was a summer baby. I just wore a cotton top between us.

10 mins may be an over-reaction in my OP, I’m just quoting what I read online. It would just be for a few mins realistically.
