MIL dilemma on holiday

To not agree with letting a 11 month old cry for 20 minutes in a strange place because he’s being sleep trained?

Sleep training on holiday in an unfamiliar place is not a good idea.

God I hate cry it out sleep training. Absolutely grim. On holiday too?! At 11 months baby knows they are somewhere else and this seems cruel.

If I was the MIL in this situation I’d really struggle with any of my children doing this regardless whether they were the one who had birthed the baby. I would have hoped how my husband and I raised them would have had an impact on how they and their partner raised their own children.

What a horrible situation to be in.

It’s not clear from your post who is doing the sleep ‘training’ and who is objecting. Whoever is objecting though is absolutely right, leaving a baby to cry for 20 minutes is cruel and good on the objector.

Sleep training on holiday is stupidity at its finest.
I don't agree with leaving a baby to cry alone by choice. Yes sometimes you're on the toilet or the verge of a breakdown but just deciding an infant isn't entitled to comfort because it's an inconvenience isn't ok imo.

I would feel so uncomfortable being on holiday with someone doing that.

Are you the MiL and you disagree with how your child and their partner are parenting your grandchild?

You just have to mind your own business. Take yourself off for a walk if you can’t bear to listen to it.
