To just want it to be autumn now?

Yabu, at least we're having a nice summer this year! I hate winter it so cold dark and depressing

Same here. How can anyone enjoy feeling cold or grey miserable days? Give me warm sunny days any day of the week. They lift my spirits.

Genuinely don’t understand why people prefer cold and rain. I find everyone more sociable in the summer as well, it’s like everyone goes into hibernation once the clocks go back. Life just seems happier when it’s sunny 😎

I like elements of summer. I don’t like applying suncream constantly but I equally like how freeing summer clothes are, I don’t miss wrapping up warm. I enjoy sitting outside reading my books but I don’t enjoy needing a cover to shade my laptop screen when I’m working outside. I enjoy summer days out.

I mean, not as strange as rewriting history and fabricating a whole new reality in which for the whole of June and July there was unbearable heat without respite somewhere in the South-West in which you were ‘sweating by 8am’… 🤦‍♀️ And when multiple people pointed that, as early as 2 days away, the weather cools significantly, you still go on about how you wish it were autumn already.

I love running in cold weather and in the dark 😂. I love the dark, verbally. I do like light evenings too. But I don’t mind dark evenings at all. Cold weather is great to run in, you just dress right and get out. The heat makes me feel sick of if I run in it.

My family have lived in Spain since 2014, according to them every summer has gotten worse and they now regularly take trips to the UK to get away from the heat. Luckily my family are in an area not possible for wildfires but I’m still worried for them every year.

Whilst it has been nice being able to wash and dry laundry in under 3 hours this summer (in England), everything is dead, my grass, flowers. It’s reached 52°c at work on multiple occasions, there’s been field fires nearby and vulnerable people ending up in hospital due to the heat.
last night was bliss, we’ve even turned the fan off and put the 4.5 tog duvet back on, I was cold walking upstairs last night.

I have read that due to the super El Niño which has caused this hot summer, we will have an exceptionally cold winter, so that’s something to look forward to

I don’t want to complain because we’ve had some awful cold, wet summers…..but yes, it’s all gone on a bit too long! Everything is so brown and crispy, I’m worried about the very real possibility of wild fires, I have fans going everywhere, I’m sweaty all the time and it’s very often too hot to walk the dogs.
I should add that I do not live in London and I cannot imagine the hell that is the tube right now.

God no i love summer. I'm dreading autumn as I get SAD.

We haven’t even got the evenings to look forward to because the temps just do not drop.
I’m coming back in October and that will be lovely.

Yanbu I can’t wait for autumn and the run up to Halloween! I love seeing the leaves change, having a cosy fire and candles, pumpkin spice lattes and the colder weather!

it's fine if you’re on holiday but when you still need to do the day to day boring shite it’s so hard.
trios to the supermarket, sweeping the floors, doing the laundry.
not fun in this heat.
all the while being on fire watch.
it’s just so dry here and have had four local fires recently.
as I said, it’s a world away from a two week holiday.
even the pool is like a bath.
never known it so bad!

You’ve had heating on recently in the UK?! Where on earth are you from originally?!
For the UK born and bred, this is an exceptionally hot summer and our homes/businesses aren’t designed for it, they’re designed to absorb and retain heat, air con isn’t a thing in many homes. We’re not used to it and struggle

I have family in southern Spain, apparently it has been unbearable. What area of the uk are you returning to? I’m in the midlands and it was 9°c last night

I can’t wait to come back to UK on Tuesday.
I’ve spent the past six weeks in southern Spain so 28 sounds blissful to me.

The British really don't like summer do they. Why would anyone want to wear woolly jumpers, boots and hats to keep out freezing cold winds and and then love it when it gets dark at 4pm. It isn't even as if we have clearly defined seasons in the UK. The winter lasts so, so long in this country. I had the heating on during most of June for god sake.

I totally get people wanting relief from high temperatures.

However, I really don't get people who prefer to wear jumpers and the long dark evenings. Oh, and candles are for power cuts only 😁

I'm currently sat outside in a cloudy 22 degrees with a glass of chilled white wine.

This! The temperature has been just right, high teens-low 20’s so warm enough to sit out and walk around in shorts, I think we’ve only had 2 or 3 days that were verging on unbearable.
