To just want it to be autumn now?

I hate the depths of winter (January and February) with a passion, but my god I am craving those lovely September days where it’s not so hot you feel sweaty by 8am, and you're able to walk around without feeling disgusting.

I want soups and stews and pies back on the menu instead of pasta and salads, I want a piping hot bowl of leek and potato soup with a crusty bit of bread, a steak and ale pie with a helping of buttery mash, a roast dinner.

I’m sick of wearing dresses and sandals, I have a Birkenstock tan line ffs. I want to get into bed and feel cosy, not just have a sheet over the top of me. I’m craving a cosy autumn afternoon, a nice walk through orange woods and coming back to a lovely bowl of stew with a helping of crusty bread, tucked under a blanket reading a book.

I’m just bloody sick of summer!

Yep

SpreadHummusNotHate · 02/08/2026 15:06

Agreed, I’ve had enough, just want to get back to taking my dog on nice walks 😭

I think it’s the fact it’s been unrelenting for the last two months here. I just want to wear something other than the same few dresses!

The likelihood is that autumn will be very warm this year, which is great for the heating bill but rubbish for those of us that love autumn and winter and want an end to this relentless heat.

socks1107 · 02/08/2026 15:08

It’s the relentless heat that’s got me. I feel it’s never going to end and the train/tube are horrific

Whaleandsnail6 · 02/08/2026 15:11

No, the autumn and winter months last too long.

I'm loving wearing dresses and shorts, having the motivation to get up for an early run before it gets too hot and a late evening dog walk.

I also find it easier to eat healthier in warm weather.

Getting the bus has been horrific. Especially in the evening when it’s been really warm, I’ve been getting off so sweaty that I am actually dripping. It’s been horrible.

See I find it the opposite! Stews and soups packed full of veg and protein, lots of homemade bread. In the heat I tend to pick at very unhealthy stuff

Yes, I want to get my lovely knitwear back out. I love autumn.

Traceysgoingtobelivid · 02/08/2026 15:15

My blinds and curtains feel they have been closed for months now to keep the heat out, it would be quite nice to actually see out of my windows!

moonraker0 · 02/08/2026 15:16

I absolutely hate autumn and winter. I have to leave for work at 4am (sometimes earlier) and it’s ten times harder when it’s dark and cold.

Sherararara · 02/08/2026 15:17

Nope long may the summer continue.

glitterpaperchain · 02/08/2026 15:18

I agree! I have a 1yo and 3yo and I am fed up with constantly worrying about sun cream, hats, if they've spent too long in the sun. They love to play in the garden but I'm sick of slapping sun cream all over them from 8am onwards. I want to be able to go for walks. I also love gardening and can't plant anything or do much. Agree about wanting to feel cozy in bed too! I love autumn and winter, I'd choose winter over summer any day.

Anxious2024 · 02/08/2026 15:19

On balance YABU as what we need (IMHO) is summer to continue but how I would prefer it - 24 degrees max, blue skies, nice breeze, overnight rain only 😂.

I agree that this is relentless but I have acclimatised in the sense that I now find 28 degrees actually okay.

I think this is part of why I’m so done with it. 28 feels okay and I’m off on a hot holiday at the end of summer, so it’ll feel normal! What’s the point in going 😩

Nope!

SmokyPotato · 02/08/2026 15:22

I don't like the icy months either @cravingcrispmornings , but I can't wait for autumn for so many of the reasons you've mentioned. The orange leaves and crisp air, warm, comforting food, the snuggly blankets to throw over me when reading, and cosy jumpers. I love all of it! Oh, and hot chocolate, I can't forget that.

I'm counting down the days.

purpleme12 · 02/08/2026 15:24

God no

I don't think about autumn until it actually happens because this time is the best time ❤️

glitterpaperchain · 02/08/2026 15:24

Also there are droughts, wildfires, and crops being ruined so as a country we really need this to be over now 😬

UrbanFan · 02/08/2026 15:25

Spring and autumn are the best seasons. Spring was cut short by summer rushing in. I hate myself for moaning about the heat but I just wish it would tone it down a bit.

Blogswife · 02/08/2026 15:27

I absolutely love Summer but I must admit I’m looking forward to Autumn too , but all in good time . It’s a long old winter in the UK so let’s not wish our lives away !

I know what you mean - my Dad lives in Italy and I would normally go and see him in August, but this year I don’t think I can bear the thought of the extreme heat there when it is already so hot here.

There is no access to a pool or the sea where my Dad is so it would be going out very early and/or very late and sheltering with the AC on during the long middle hours of the day.

Will you have access to the sea and a pool where you are going? That’s what I would currently love.

BIossomtoes · 02/08/2026 15:30

Absolutely not. Summer can last for ever for me. I’m really enjoying getting some decent wear out of my summer clothes.

Ouuuuccchhhh · 02/08/2026 15:35

Move to Scotland! (I jest). But it’s much cooler here, I’ve been compelled to put a hoodie on a few times in the past few days and properly snuggle under the duvet in bed at night!

CrapAbble · 02/08/2026 15:37

I want some bloody rain.
