They do actually. ‘It’s not even below freezing much’ is quite common. ‘Don’t you enjoy frosty mornings though?’ Is another. Even when I say it affects my mental health…though according to the OP I’m just a bit sad, I need to learn to cope or else make a GP appointment instead of being insufferable about it 🤷‍♀️

Indeed. Nobody tries to Gotcha someone who hates winter by pointing out that actually the sun came out for an hour on Thursday 19th November and there was that one warm patch in March where it got above 16 for a day.

I absolutely do? I wear a crop top or vest and shorts during the day on hot summer days, and I socialise well into the night. It can be a glorious 26 degrees during the day and drop to 16 degrees by midnight. I can’t walk around in summer clothes in 16 degrees, personally, I’d freeze.

I like the sun & heat just not in London

The sun lovers always get aghast on these threads. Thing is I do understand why people love the heat. I just don’t, not long term over 25 degrees. There have been cooler days- I had a blissful few days in North Yorkshire where it was cloudy and 18. Perfect for walking.

I can’t just walk out of the house in hot weather, I have to slather myself in factor 50 first and then remember to take it with me to reapply etc. I have photosensitive eyes (pale green) and so lots of bright light gives me headaches, so have to remember sunglasses.

I love sunshine and pleasant temps of up to 22ish.

Whether there have been no days below 26, it HAS been the hottest and driest summer. So even a few cooler days can make it feel relentless. In the same way that if you hate winter, even the odd dry, sunny day doesn’t make it feel less relentlessly grey.

Surely you don’t need a jacket at 18-19 degrees?

I usually relish summer, but I have to agree OP. I’m actually bored of the unrelenting heat. For me, I think the main reason I want to get back to autumn is workwear. I work in London and my workplace has a strict corporate dress code. I don’t have the spare cash to invest in quality linen and cotton workwear which I’ll only wear 2-3 months of the year (at most). So it’s been a struggle to find office appropriate clothing that won’t make me break out in a terrible sweat.

I want to get back to smart trousers, nice quality knitwear, dresses with tights and boots.

It has been nice but I struggle with the temps above 28 particularly when working as we don’t have air con & the parks desperately need some rain.

We don't have particularly cold Septembers so I wonder what it will be like.

@dogsmaid this keeps happening! It looks like a drop to lovely summer weather and then that never happens. In many ways it has been nice to have a long period of sunny weather but I’m glad we’re in the last third now.
i remember saying in May I wander summer in store if we’re in a heatwave already / if only I knew!

Im looking forward to normal south east England summer of 22/23 degrees. With the odd rainy day for the plants. Its such a nice weather when its like that.

I have found the hovering at 28 feeling a bit much for being outside without shelter which some summer evens have been.

I pay no attention to weather apps more than 5 or 6 days out (learned the hard way with a holiday a few years back), but they’re usually fairly accurate for the next couple of days. Of course things can always change and it might be 30 degrees this weekend so I can go to my rave without a jacket (yes please 🙏), but across multiple apps it’s showing the UK cooling significantly this week.

Not for a lot of the country. It’s also ramping up again this week.

You are my soul sister. That is exactly how I experience Autumn.

I get what you mean .. but at the same time I’m loving the nice warm weather, washing dry outside within an hour, windows and doors open , fresh air , lots of time outdoors , cheaper entertainment for grandchildren - park, river and wood trails, no muddy car ( just dust instead lol )

Have got used to it and coping better , not coping above 27 but otherwise I’m loving it and would like it to continue
On the other hand , well aware of the risk of drought , fires and the effect on farming , wildlife and global warming etc so it’s not all good .

It’s already getting dark before 9pm now. How anyone looks forward to the endless long, grey, damp months is beyond me. Autumn and winter are depressing. Make the most of the warmth and sunlight while you can.
