To just want it to be autumn now?

Here everything smells like hay. It is just so weird! Would love to smell petrichor again.

I lived in England my whole life until a couple of years ago.

We have had some rain!!!

The earthy smell is wonderful.

its been 14C here (scotland) and will be all week. cloudy and drizzly currently. trees are beginning to wilt and change colour just slightly and shops have autumn lines on display now. bring on another heat wave.

It’s been 26 in my part of Yorkshire today with a toney attempt at raining. It was too hot when I went for a run and I had to significantly slow down and felt rubbish.

Just about cool enough now to walk the dog.

DP would still be in shorts and tshirt at 13 degrees, but he’s born and bred Yorkshire and only wears trousers for a few weeks of the year 😂

I usually love the summer, but this has been relentless! I miss being able to go out with my dog whenever I want, I now have to get up really early to walk her, I miss the spontaneity and I’m always worried she’ll overheat. Looking forward to Autumn, which hopefully won’t be overly warm.

I’m in Cambridgeshire too. It rained pretty much incessantly for the first two weeks in June and was relatively cold. Our dogs are being walked very happily and running around like lunatics at 10am.

It’s been a beautiful day today. Sunny with a gentle breeze. The garden is looking glorious because I water with a watering can.

Cambridgeshire here, it's been relentless. It's not properly rained since May (and i mean a proper downpour, not two minutes of a light shower)

Having to wake up at 4am to get the dog walked because it's already 20+ degrees at 6am and it's so muggy and humid. Then dragging myself to the gym before work because all my energy has evaporated by lunchtime.

This summer has been the biggest trigger for my SAD, I spend most days questioning what the point of life is if it's just going to be utterly miserable with weather like this that never seems to end.

And it's not "just summer", the country is on fire. We've been placed on our first hosepipe ban in thirty years, everything is just dead (aside from the weeds that I don't have the energy to remove). There's not a single good thing about it.

I’ve got a late dinner on Thursday in London and I will certainly be taking a jacket. I really need it to be at least 23-24 degrees at night for me for feel comfortable walking around in summer clothes without a light jacket, and it almost never is in London. It always seems to be cool in the morning and late at night (to me). Take today. A hot day but drops down to 20 degrees at midnight, and will be even cooler tomorrow morning.

Where I live is another story - I sleep with the AC on every night in summer. So actual unrelenting heat!

@Crushed23I will happily take 22, just need to get to a day that does that! Today was showing as 28 the other day but it was hotter.

I’m not a big fan of hot weather but I have got used to this lovely long Summer we’ve been having.

It’s been warm and dry but not roasting and it’s been lovely to be able to get outside, wear shorts and t-shirts, dry washing on the lime.

I do love Autumn though and I sleep so much better in the cooler weather.

It rarely gets very cold in Winter anyway.

Yabu, its great waking up knowing it'll be sunny feels like being abroad or the summers i remember as a young child

a HIGH of 22-24 degrees certainly counts as cooler weather to me! I’ll be freezing my tits off at the temperature low of 13 degrees, if I’m out and about 🙃

Autumn might be just as deranged as Summer is...Climate change will kill all predictably pretty soon.

I hear you. I'm sick of being sticky all the time! I've had horrible sweats all summer long and can't seem to regulate my temperature at all, even on the days that are cooler. I'm looking forward to being able to wear an extra layer without melting inside it!

I'm not a fan of winter TBH. I like not spending 10 minutes layering up to leave the house, spending money on heating, driving in driving rain and fog, the long dark evenings.

However, I understand how sapping the heat can be, and we really need some rain. We have some forecast for Thursday.

I have always hated everything about summer, so this year's interminable heatwave has been hellish for me! Also, we have an extremely active toddler and August is a bit of a wasteland since most of the groups we attend are cancelled or sporadic so filling her days with activities is more tricky.
I too am longing for autumn, I have always liked it, my second favourite season, something so cosy and comforting about it and the fact that it is followed by my absolute favourite season, winter! I love everything about winter, it is very much my time, plus I am obsessed with all things Christmas so I am at my very happiest when the days are shortest!
