Dh changes when a full moon

Not in a werewolf way and i’m not a woo type of person, but I’ve noticed a few times (going to have to start writing it down) that on the build up
to a full moon, he can be very moody and not nice sometimes and the day after-few days after, he’s back to himself, but much nicer-kinder

It’s happened too many times now to feel like a coincidence

Am I the one going mad?

I’m often surprised by people who do not know their partner’s sign

Why is this surprising? (I don't know my husband's sign, but I know what his personality is like very well, so it would be redundant to try and find out more about his personality from a list of dates!)

I think we're more affected by the natural environment than most people realise.
I often get a migraine when there's a dramatic change in air pressure.
DM was a school dinner lady and she said that the pupils were a lot more boisterous when it was windy.

Wind madness is definitely a thing, having been in schools for over 30 years!

FlipFlopVibe · 01/08/2026 22:41

Emergency Services here too, crime and volatile behaviour absolutely is affected by the full moon, happens far too frequently to be a coincidence

This is what my Dh says, police.

MyDarlingRose · 02/08/2026 10:28

Extra moonlight at night can disrupt sleep. Maybe he just sleeps worse on those nights and it makes him grumpy.

Well you probably don't know your own. The standard western zodiac we use is based on dividing the sky into 12 equal sections which don't actually fully align with the constellations for which they are named (the constellations aren't all the same size, the sun doesn't spend an equal amount of time in each one) and leaves out one constellation that is in fact in the zodiac line because otherwise there'd be 13 and it wouldn't align so nicely with the seasons. Libra also used to be in the same constellation as Scorpio until it was changed, I believe by the Romans... the constellations as we know them are only how humans have chosen to group the stars together. Keep the constellation of Ophiuchus, through which the sun does pass, and look at which actual constellation the sun is in at the time of your birth rather than which equal 1/12 section of sky and you'll very likely find that you got your sign wrong too.

Not to mention that this is only the solar zodiac and if you're insisting that people are ruled by the moon, you should surely be looking at their lunar zodiac... and again, are you using the standard western zodiac for that or are you looking at the actual constellations, all 13 of them?

Or are you using an Eastern zodiac like the Chinese one which is based on the year you were born using a lunar calendar and a different set of elements and seems to give a very very different set of predictions?

Goodness, it gets complicated...

Weird, it's not actually a full moon today. What's the star sign that takes offence at nothing and makes stuff up to justify it?

I learned about this before social media existed, before I got my first email address. (That's how I am aware it is not new information, although it will always be new to someone.) It's true I'm not some deep person blah blah but I never suggested that I was. I'd say sorry for whatever it was I said about differing zodiacs that got you so angry but I don't actually care.

Katigee410 · 02/08/2026 13:30

I genuinely believe the full moon affects us. Years ago worked in a bar and there were more fights on a full moon. Affects my mood even sex drive. And the blokes in work are even grumpier than normal 🤭

Thehop · 02/08/2026 13:35

Husband is an ex policeman and said full moons were the worst shifts

He’s Pisces

so a water sign. likely more affected by stuff like the moon! water signs are sensitive and pick up on things more strongly than other signs. Also you need to see his whole chart, he might have planets in cancer like the moon or wahtever.

kattyjean · 31/07/2026 23:48

So this is what I always believed but apparently there’s been a lot of studies on this and there is no data from police etc to back it up (caveated to say from AI!)

When I worked in a primary school my colleagues and I noticed that the children would often become more unruly and boisterous at the same time. On one occasion someone pointed out that there was a full moon. We laughed it off but noticed it happened repeatedly. Not scientific proof but 🤷‍♀️
After all didn’t the word ‘lunatic’ originate from ‘lunar’?

ThatCyanCat · 02/08/2026 14:48

lottiegarbanzo · 02/08/2026 13:39

To be honest, the confirmation bias will continue even there. Stuff they'd normally ignore and forget will be noted down as significant change if it's full moon, and significant changes will be downplayed if it's not. It's hard to measure this kind of thing if it's not actually measurable in terms of something like hospital admissions or arrests. "Gets grumpy" and "acts up" are somewhat subjective.

None of the theories about it really make any sense. Suppose it was to do with the moon's gravitational pull on water; well, that would be affected by apogee and perigee, but nobody ever mentions that.

SunwaysSystems · 02/08/2026 14:49

Everyone here who claims they accurately and objectively notice patterns but also point out (their deep, hidden knowledge) that 'lunatic' is derived from 'lunar' as if the previous half-dozen people hadn't done so is making me chuckle!

The effect of the moon on some people is well acknowledged. Its where the word lunatic comes from.

Ohhh, I get that too. I have known for 2 days the rain was coming and possibly thunder because my head has been thumping. Massive downpour (got caught in it and bloody soaked).
Guess what? I feel so much better...hope theres a wee bit more tomorrow (after i get my washing in 🤭.)

You have had rain?? Where do you live.. I want some rain!!

Wind madness is definitely a thing, having been in schools for over 30 years!

Wind madness and getting a headache before thunderstorms both make sense to me because there are measurable effects on us that we know are real. Eg, with the wind blowing it's noisier, you can see things whirling around, if you are outside you can feel it, and when it's very strong you can lean into it. All of those are things that I can easily imagine would hype children up. It's stimulating senses we know about. Likewise the air before a thunderstorm noticeably changes pressure and it's also usually hot, humid and oppressive. Being able to feel those things isn't woo.

Whereas for full moons, we know we can see the moon is full (unless blind) but I don't think apart from that there is any known mechanism it can affect our bodies by. There might be something we don't know about. But I don't think its comparable to children getting overstimulated by noticeable changes to their environment.

I used to work nights on the Taxi operator/dispatch desk, we had more punters fighting outside of clubs and pubs around a full moon. I have heard that medical staff such as A&E Nurses etc., and police feel it has an effect. Make a note of it, and maybe, depending on the husband's age it could be medical. I know testosterone doesn't get talked about the way HRT does, but recently there has been a few recent media, TV pieces about it.

The entire herd has a proper hooley when it’s windy! I was bringing in a mate’s gelding and an empty plastic tub flew up and over us. I was glad it wasn’t my gelding, he’d have spooked big time!

And yet it affects tides and aren’t we mostly water?! 🤣

I am not trying to say it has a definite effect, but it’s remarkable how many emergency service personnel remark on the full moon having an effect. Maybe pure coincidence, I mean they deal with all sorts of crazy/tragic occurrences daily.

No, things that happen to women that make behaviours in others less tolerable and more annoying than they would be at other times.

I hate to say it but maybe it's not him, it's you? Grin

Or maybe he is like this all the time, but it only bothers/registers with OP at certain times of the month when her giveashitometer is running in empty?

muddyford · 02/08/2026 15:28

I worked with what were then called emotionally disturbed teenagers in a residential school. It was noticeable that around the time of a full moon they became more difficult to handle. That's why we had lunatics.

NattyKnitter116 · 02/08/2026 15:55

I never believed this until I met MIL who is quite literally a lunatic and exceedingly wobbly in the build up to a full moon. Not hormones as she’s in her 80s. She’s always been the same so I guess it’s sensitive brain fluid!
There must be a reason for the invention of the word lunatic!
