YANBU - however Ceuta is not mainland Europe - its a tiny part off the edge of morrocco - all they have to do is close the airport and open a pne way gate to Morocco and they'll all leave again

I think it is a big problem for the Spanish, but I don’t think it sets a precedent in any way.

Southern Europe is close to the Maghreb and so is the first port of call for African immigrants.

With global warming, though, there is going to be loads of northwards migration. It will be very challenging.

It’s now documented to be about 49,000 and it is absolute fuck up for the UK as they are in the majority going to come to our country because we give them such a free ride. Immigrants/asylum seeking do do get a 'free ride' in this country.

Stop believing right wing politicians and right wing media propaganda.

Also immigrants from Morocco are more likely to want to settle in France because the history between the two countries means they are likely to speak the language and have relatives living there and can find a strong Maghreban community established already.

They're not, they are stuck in Ceuta. They are reported to mostly be going back as the PP described above.

What's causing you to feel unsettled exactly? It doesn't really set a precedent for the rest of Europe given this is Spain occupying territory it failed to return to Morocco after independence. Colonisation tends to have longer term impacts as everyone is now realising.

Or did you decide to leave out that detail to make it seem like it was mainland Spain.

Ceuta is looking unsustainable. I feel for the usual residents, it must have felt very frightening.

I’m assuming the people who swam/rafted to Ceuta had no interest in the colonisation of Ceuta, they wanted to get to the EU.

I am also assuming that they will apply for asylum. Otherwise why do the swim which is actually quite hazardous?

You would hardly swim there, say you were an economic migrant, and be forced to immediately turn around.

Maybe have a look at a map. They’re really no nearer the uk than they were before they arrived in Ceuta.

Even if they do apply for asylum, Moroccans have very, very little chance of getting it in spain.

No doubt about that, however, I have doubts about just how genuine the OP is.
If they want to discuss the issue & convince others they're here for genuine discourse & debate, they need to work on their delivery.
