What is going on in this house?

Right, this is going to sound nosy but here goes...
A house in a street I know was owned by an old lady with no family. When she died, her house stood empty for nearly a year then it started having work done. It's been bought by a health service far away from he town we live in (think I live in Liverpool and NHS Devon and Cornwall bought it) BTW these are not the real locations. So, they do lots of renovations, including putting a much higher fence up which has a key code entry they also put frosted film on every window. There's a new build extension on the side with coded keypads too. This is where 2 carers are. There are 4 carers altogether, 2 at a time and then a swap. There is one man who lives there . He is in his 30s , able bodied can move well etc I've seen him once or twice in the garden in a whole year. Another twice I saw a darkened van come to get him. He was only gone for an hour or so then back.
I cannot imagine the scenario this might be. I'm not curtain twitching and permanently watching but I am fascinated.

Maybe the man is a werewolf? It would take all 4 carers to restrain him during the full moons.

I think they would only need 3 -1 if its cloudy though.

There might be bedridden patient living there, maybe someone who has something to do with secret service (strange but possible!)

… havent read all messages but have you checked with local authorities/ council re change of use etc.

CathyTalbot · 26/07/2026 17:21

I think it's reasonable to want to know what's going on in your own neighbourhood. Why not ask the local authority or failing this, your MP?

They can give you an outline without divulging anyone's personal details. If public money is being spent on this project it sould not be a secret from tax payers.

And the problem now is NIMBY - no-one wants to live near care in the community facilities such as the one OP has described.

Yeah i’d agree with that, lots of people are very keen on helping the community until it’s their community. 🙄

I wish I was so pious that I wasn't interested in unusual events going around me but here we are.

Interesting OP. Whats your theory?

Oh they are interested.

They just don’t want to admit it, other what are they doing on this thread?

I think this is the only explanation

I am not trying to find out in real life! That's why I'm chatting on here

I think there's nothing at all wrong with trying to find out in real life.

Talk to your other neighbours.

CathyTalbot · 27/07/2026 22:32

Yes you're right. Authorities might be wary of divulging anything. If it were me, I'd probably try to get talking to one of the carers. This can take ages, I know. It can start with nodding and then smiling and then building up to talking. But it might be the only way to find any real information.

alexdgr8 · 28/07/2026 01:57

The carers will not reveal any information about their client or even the setting if they are doing their job properly.

And the carer would be in breach of client confidentiality if they divulged any information, so realistically that’s not going to happen.

In an ideal world, populated by ultra obedient people, of course not. But as you may have noticed, this is not such a world.
