Re 1- Gee, wonder who will make the determination that a person is an 'enemy alien'. Obvs that will include anyone who is brown and here illegally in the Scrotus Gang's minds.

Re 2-Children of those with diplomatic immunity are already an exception. The EO would open a broad category which I would assume would include the children of any individual who simply works for a foreign govt, and not just those in 'high places'.

Re 3- I suppose is aimed at 'birth tourism' as if someone falsifies a visa application to give birth here that's considered 'fraud', but the child still had citizenship.

It'll end up with SCOTUS. I didn't read the decision but I'm wondering if these 3 categories were mentioned as 'possible' exceptions. Alito and Thomas are rather fond of 'musing on the possibilities' if they dissent from a majority opinion. Scrotus, or most likely Nosferatu Miller, didn't pick those 3 things out of thin air.

I have no skin in this. But the US constitution is totally clear on 2 things so far as I can see. Birthright citizenship, AND.... how to change the Constitution.

Just checked to see if Puerto Rico is ok, and yes ok. Since 1941.

But American Samoa are in the shit. There is no federal statute I can see for them. So I expect they have filed papers already.

It all confuses me. If he want's to end birthright citizenship it should be easy. Just change the constitution. Amend the amendment.

The birthright citizenship is all a front for the real issue, which is that what the president says is law. And was always meant to be. And that rather than preventing that, the entire raison d'etre of the constitution is to support that theory.

Thanks. You're right, yours is biglier 😂 We come here every year and basically can't leave the motel room without a mask since I arrived yesterday. The air quality is ranging from very unhealthy to hazardous. It is awful. There's ash falling. Puts a full stop to sitting/swimming at the beach but we're making the best of it with marathon thrifting & daylong canning, haha.
