We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

I too can get very busy 'usefully procrastinating' @SingleThreadJoiner2 And now your mind is clear you can do your work tasks...maybe....perhaps?

I've acquired some more boxes for the parental home, and feeling glad I've gone slowly as mother has suddenly remembered bits and bobs that she wants. She loves all her things around her, even if she can't see them and never uses them. Another who grew up in poverty so it's understandable. I'm going to need to get her some proper storage boxes which she will fill and get us to squeeze into awkward spaces, and then never look at again. I don't really know why I am so exactly the opposite, except perhaps that as a child I never went without. I just relish space so much more than possessions.

Thank you @SingleThreadJoiner2 for good wishes re DH. Honestly he never gives in, but he's clearly very fatigued. A lot to do with a specific health condition and it's accompanying medication and the side effects. Poor fellow 😢

WintersFrog · 21/09/2026 16:17

My procrastination has taken the form of reading a wonderful thread about little fixes around the house. I love those ones. Plus one about preparing a few days supplies of food and water, as recommended by the government, which has brought out the usual shouts of panic buying and hoarding and wasting food. I'm about as far from a hoarder as you can get but I could feed my family for a week or more. Hardly hoarding! We'll live on mackerel and sardines so doubt anyone will want to raid our stash unless they are absolutely desperate! I'll save the sweeties and cakes for littlest 💕

FourSeasonsLobelia · 21/09/2026 16:24

Hope so much your DH rests as he can and does not get too fatigued Thanks @WinterFrogs .

Peridot1 · 21/09/2026 16:35

It’s hard to believe we are so far into September really @WintersFrog. It is my week in Greece solo with a fully loaded Kindle. And possibly a couple of “proper” books. But the Kindle is so convenient. And conveniently full of books!

Hope your DH is ok.

I did my planned trip in the end this morning and the traffic was ok and I managed to find my way around the road closures. Did some other jobs when I came home. And started my brain dump list.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/09/2026 22:02

Just popping in to say Hi 👋🙂
Have read the latest from all of you and am duly impressed! 👏

Did my usual morning routine for my mum and DC; got Havoc to school 😢; and then back home to pick-up my mum and off to a medical appt at the hosp and the bank after that.

Baby went down for a nap just after noon, so missed lunch. I thought I'd get a Costco run in, but was on the phone for about an hour dealing with something else. 🙄
So, just having a cup of tea, will put lunch together for baby then I'll be off to get Havoc.

To do:
vacuum
wash floors
clean bathroom
put clean clothes away
wash and hang up clothes
Costco shop

Hi all- I was working at a temp job this morning. Now trying to clean the kitchen and do some life admin of playing bills and sorting out repairmen.

Yawn, tbh!

RunningKatie · 22/09/2026 19:20

Bake Off starts again this evening, looking forward to it but it really heralds the start of Autumm.
Saying that it's unseasonably warm here, took dc for an ice cream after their activity. They were delighted!
Bathroom rip out has started, it's not the most fun so far.

WintersFrog · 23/09/2026 18:38

I'm shattered! Two full days' work, exercise session one way or another each day ( rest day tomorrow) and littlest after school twice this week. Have vaguely kept on top of everything.
Thanks for well wishes re DH. He's ok, but long term meds wipe him out a bit.

I have not thought about dinner tonight but luckily DH gets a cooked lunch at work. Littlest got baked beans on toast but she also has cooked lunch.

Omelettes for us perhaps 🤔

Wishing good things for all 😘

WintersFrog · 24/09/2026 06:46

Morning! All bright and breezy and awake at 5am after a very early night!
I've been sitting outside since 6am and listened to the dawn chorus and watched it become light. Gorgeous ( chilly, am wrapped up in an unzipped sleeping bag)
Washing is on! DH and I are working together this morning and stopping at a cafe for breakfast on the way 😊
My project for the day is to sort out my fridge. Food has just been chucked in haphazardly.

Wishing you all a good Thursday 🌞 🍂

FourSeasonsLobelia · 24/09/2026 07:06

Morning all and best wishes to you and your DH @WinterFrogs !

I am feeling smug because I sorted out my fridge yesterday. Halo. However- I HAVE had to cancel my cleaner because the rest of the house is a disaster. I've been really busy the ast few days fire fighting things so got behind.

Today I am committing myself to working in cycles- 45 minutes fire fighting various life admin issues and 15 minutes tidying.

Leaving for the school run in about 15 minutes- road closures mean that we have an additional half hour or more added to the usual 40 minute drive.... then I have to get back again!

best wishes to all.

RunningKatie · 24/09/2026 07:51

Calpol syringes all packaged up, dc are going to drop them into the post box en route to school.
The info is here @WintersFrog calpol site
I made a stuff up at work yesterday so today I am largely going to be freaking out about that and trying to fix it.
Totally my fault, a process went wrong, I must have missed a step or reversed something and of course, it cannot be undone. It's going to be a tears and a many coffees kind of day.
Still, reformer pilates tonight and it's nearly the weekend so hurrah!

BerfyTigot · 24/09/2026 09:25

I have a trip to the tip today - hurrah! Have been waiting to borrow my nephew's estate car and he's going to help me. Quite a lot to go and I'm so looking forward to the space.

Going to reward myself with a session making some birthday cards this afternoon.

@WintersFrog I need to sort our my fridge too 😩 We also do the chucking in and swearing we'll deal with it later.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 24/09/2026 12:52

@RunningKatie I hope it's not as bad as it first looks and the tears are limited! Sending hugs.

Mostly tidying and trying to keep on top of laundry here. Extra unexpected job of contesting a parking ticket - it was not clear at all that where we had parked was not a "marked bay" what with being a) a bay and b) marked by a white line...

We are contesting a parking ticket too right now. The company claims we parked for 9 hours in a random industrial estate. The photos provided show the car parked in different locations at different times and two different drivers (me and DH). Providing credt card receipts of where we both shopped that day (ranging a 15 mile radius over 7 locations) apparently don't prove that we popped in at separate times on the same day 9 hours apart......

WintersFrog · 24/09/2026 16:18

Thank you @RunningKatie 😊 I hope your day was less awful than anticipated ❤️
Sympathy and solidarity re the parking fines @FourSeasonsLobelia and @SingleThreadJoiner2 I got two last year. One had a scam qr code over the parking code. Luckily the bank declined the payment for the scam ( a gaming site) but it was bloody impossible to challenge the ticket because 'car park company Reasons' which I can't remember now. The other one had me parked in there all day, when I'd parked in it briefly, twice. They had photo evidence of me driving in, early, and out late, but insisted no evidence of me leaving and returning in between. I use neither car park now, the bastards. 🤬 🤬 🤬

We also have serious roadwork activity around here @FourSeasonsLobelia which make journeys longer and more inventive.

@BerfyTigot a lovely cathartic tip run, space and card making. A fine day!

We had a lovely breakfast then a straightforward morning, but then I got caught up with mother errands and only just got home. So fridge is still haphazard. I'm ignoring it and instead made a cup of tea and I'm outside again with my kindle ( The Dean's Watch by Elizabeth Goudge - it's lovely!)
Which reminds me, our @Peridot1 is off to Greece tomorrow- how wonderful does that sound 😍

Big loves to all 🫂

Peridot1 · 24/09/2026 16:31

Hello all. Not much time to catch up as in packing and sorting mode.

Sympathies to those with car park fine issues. And house renovations. And work issues.

I have mainly packed. Just hand luggage to do. I am a chronic overpacker and I just embrace it now. And the weather is going to be patchy so have to bring sensible things as well as beach things. I should sort the fridge out before I go but not sure I can be bothered.

Anyway - I am off early this morning. Will be trying to abstain from too much online stuff while I’m away but will check in.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 24/09/2026 17:17

There's just no winning with the parking companies is there! Let's see how it goes...

Have a great trip @Peridot1 🏖️

FourSeasonsLobelia · 24/09/2026 17:49

I am feeling a vicarious thrill at your pending Greek adventures @Peridot1 !

Thanks for solidarity re parking. @WinterFrogs that is exactly our scenario too!

Madness, re the car parks, isn't it?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 25/09/2026 07:30

Quick catch-up from me:
yea to tip runs
boo to parking lot scams
yea to trip to Greece

Kept Havoc home from school today as a fever developed overnight to 39.9c by morning with cough. 😢
Also dealing with Havoc having a UTI and on antibiotics every 8 hours, so one dose is at 3am. 😭
I've noticed water bottle has been coming
home practically full, so I think dehydration is the cause of the UTI. The kids can access their water and toilet any time they want and I think Havoc has just been distracted and not drinking then getting used to eating snack and lunch in allotted time - teacher sets a timer - and drinking gets skipped in favour of food. I'll be reminding Havoc to do both.
Spent a couple hours shopping around this afternoon and got some great deals on a track suit, trousers and pj's for Havoc. I needed to pick up an extra set of clothes to send in to school as school asks the kids keep a change of clothes there just in case. I got a $10 jacket as well. So, that task is complete. I think I just need to buy new rain boots, rain pants (do you say rain trousers?) and maybe snow boots.
Also got the kids their Halloween costumes. One bought while out and the other ordered on Amazon.
Managed to vacuum and clean 2/3 of the bathroom last night.
A few neighbours had their cars broken into last night. Thank god mine was ignored.
Feeling bad for neighbours, though, well, not the one who drives too fast. 🙈
It's been raining here since afternoon and nights have gone down to about 12c.
I think I'll dig my garden up this weekend. I don't think I'll get another tomato harvest and I just picked another squash and baked it last night, but I think that's about all now.
I'm hoping Kind Gardening Neighbour won't think I'm a psycho when I dig it up and then fix it with winter plants. I don't need the stress of trying to maintain fall planting.
Havoc has eye appt tomorrow, so will see if well enough to do that as can easily wear a mask and staff at that practice do same.
Also need to go to medical supply to pick up my mum's meds etc as delivery window wasn't convenient and return an Amazon purchase. On the weekend I'm getting a CT scan and taking my mum to get IV dressing changed (PICC line is the proper word).

Fun fact: we call parking structures (multi-levels) parkades.
It's unique to us, I think. 🇨🇦🍁

BerfyTigot · 25/09/2026 09:25

Arghh! Im procrastinating this morning. I have a big tidying job to do - one of those Tetris tidying jobs.

I need to declutter our junk room so that I can move some essential work equipment in there, to free up some room in our playroom for furniture which is currently cluttering our sitting room 🙄

I think im procrastinating because it's such a big job and I won't see the benefit until it's finished. Waaaaah! I really don't want to start!

Ok, having got that out I'm ready 😆

WintersFrog · 25/09/2026 16:15

Poor old Havoc @Mumtobabyhavoc 😢 Hope things improve!
Rain coats and waterproof trousers here, or simply, 'waterproofs'.
And multi storey car parks. Funny how the same language can have such differences.

Those tasks do cause such procrastination don't they @BerfyTigot? Hope you're getting along ok. I have a small mountain of old shed stuff and bits of metal, all tied together with weeds, that need to go to the tip. It feels like an enormous task but I think I simply need to start by teasing it all apart.

Cycling day today, bright and early. Since then it's been fielding emails and the odd panicky phone call, mainly work related but not all. Two full days off now and intent ton re-routing any nonsense to Someone Else. One small thing was getting meds and toiletries for mother. I don't mind at all but I do wonder what happens to those with no families. My bet is on the carers pulling more than their weight, as usual. Like teachers who provide stationery and snacks for their charges.

Hopefully @Peridot1 has arrived safe and sound. I'm drowning out the sound of my small noisy neighbours with beach/wave/ seagull sounds in my headphones instead of my usual rain sounds and pretending I'm also on holiday.

Hope DD is doing well @mumofoneisonozempic and that you have had some rest.

I hope everyone is well 🙏

RunningKatie · 25/09/2026 20:08

Friday evening at last, did the dog walk and the sky was a glorious pink. Then the heavens opened, but now we are indoors and I'm putting my pyjamas on early and pouring a glass of wine too.
Love a good pair of waterproof trousers for the kids to splash in. Very disappointed that teenagers don't do this much. I need to check dc2 fits his before our half term holiday. He does keep growing!
Bathroom guys are coming at 8am tomorrow, this is very early, hoping it's a start early and finish early plan, they don't seem to have made much progress today but I'm clearly not a trained builder so can't really tell.
Boo to parking fines, I've been in a car park today that allows 14 hours in a week. Dh is there on Tuesday, then I'm there with work Friday, Sunday and Monday. I need to find and get permission for the staff car park!

mumofoneisonozempic · 25/09/2026 23:34

Just a quick hello from me to you all 🩷

Will be back on mn in a bit xx
