We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

Love the tiles @RunningKatie !
Hope you're ok @Mumtobabyhavoc - you have such a lot on your plate.
Good job on the newspapers @BerfyTigot . It’s amazing when doing something that seems like a small job makes such a big change.
I’m in a village too @Peridot1 and love it here. Not even a village shop here but we do have a community pub.

mumofoneisonozempic · 17/09/2026 12:29

Left home at 8, just got home now. New phone secured after old one was damaged (long story). Only at the bargain cost of £30 per month for two years! 😖😖😖

Had to ask directions to the phone shop from an actual human, as had no Satnav! Luckily this guy drove and knew London well.

Sweeties and a coke zero for me, for surviving last night without a phone. I think I actually slept very well.

Love to you all, will catch up later - do take care, especially @Mumtobabyhavoc nothing matters more than our loved ones and our health 🩷

watchPhone · 17/09/2026 15:55

Just checking in to see if @Mumtobabyhavoc is OK Flowers

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 17/09/2026 16:28

I hope this isn't too outing but I thought you would appreciate this little story
new fridge delivered this morning. Hallway is a bit narrow at the moment due to a currently displaced item of furniture in the way, but after much huffing and puffing the delivery guys get it in the kitchen via the narrow side passage and the back door.

Old fridge - we had paid for its removal and scrapping. Apparently it's bigger and heavier than average (we didn't choose, it was there when we moved), after even more huffing and puffing they conclude it can't fit through the back (there was something making the passage too narrow) and they can't take it from the front because they will damage the item of furniture. So they leave it standing in the middle of the kitchen and told me that once I figured out a way to make space I could book a removal. And leave.

My lovely polish builders turn up, take off the door to make it lighter, and with considerable effort lift it over the obstacle in the narrow side passage and deposit it outside my front door, slightly mocking (to me) the delivery guys.

I called to rebook collection, was told that my husband who had placed the order and who is currently abroad had to write to them to authorise me to speak on his behalf. As he had given them my email address for the order I wrote said email and gave myself the authorization and called them back and hopefully the fridge will be gone by Monday at the latest....

Peridot1 · 17/09/2026 17:01

You couldn’t make it up could you @SingleThreadJoiner2? Glad it’s gone!

Hope @Mumtobabyhavoc is ok.

And everyone else of course!

not much achieved today here. Cleaned one window sill in kitchen and washed what was on it. Stripped DS’s bed as he is away tonight. Washed and hung up his bedding. Emptied and reloaded dishwasher. Then neighbour came over for a coffee to discuss some village shenanigans. He and DH are both on parish council. Then I went to M&S to return a jumper. Had lunch. Tried on some clothes. Bought nothing. Did a supermarket shop and came home.

Arrived back to find a parent from the school across the road parked in our driveway. She got a bit of a fright when I leaned on the horn! And then I wrote a strongly worded email to the head of the school.

Have a good rest of the day all.

WintersFrog · 18/09/2026 08:55

That's brilliant @SingleThreadJoiner2 😆 You really couldn't make it up!

I grew up in a hamlet that had a pub, a chapel, a post office and it's own football team. Now it's just a suburb of the local town, which I still live in. The pub was demolished and turned into flats, the chapel is now a house, the post office is now two houses and the football pitch is currently a building site. But it is still on a bus route so that's something.

Hope you are all well. Day off today and we're planning a visit to a national trust place so I'm off to make a picnic.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 18/09/2026 10:23

What fun @WintersFrog I hope the weather holds!

I am off work today too and am having the MOST satisfying time, I've emptied out my assorted handbags and rucksacks and tidied everything away, then made a "go pouch" of the basic things that I need whenever I go out (wallet, tissues, hair tie etc). I feel lighter and happier knowing that everything is just in one place now!

WintersFrog · 19/09/2026 06:55

The weather was beautiful @SingleThreadJoiner2 and we had a lovely day thank you. We're familiar with the place so we just walked in the gardens and I started a little bit of Christmas shopping in the shop.

This week has flown by and I'm quite surprised it's Saturday already. I would like to do a bit of a reset at home I think. I particularly want to sort out clothing, and clutter has started to creep again.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend 😘

Peridot1 · 19/09/2026 10:19

Morning all.

Hope @Mumtobabyhavoc is ok. She hasn’t been around for a few days which isn’t like her.

@SingleThreadJoiner2 - sounds like a satisfying task!

@WintersFrog - sounds like a lovely day.

I had PT session yesterday morning and then made up DS’s bed, stripped mine and washed bedding and remade bed. Did towel wash. Dusted dining area. Including ceilings - so many cobwebs! And did coffee table in sitting area.

Today - dishwasher is done. About to clean the lights over the dining table and the kitchen island. Now it’s getting darker in the evenings we put the lights on last night and i realised how bad the lights are! Also need a quick supermarket trip and post office to drop off a returns parcel. Then a general tidy round and vacuum. Hall needs dusting too. We are having friends over for dinner tonight so a bit of a house reset needed. Need to clean downstairs loo too. Tomorrow will be a nothing day!

Have a great Saturday all.

RunningKatie · 19/09/2026 11:44

Also hoping our @Mumtobabyhavoc is ok.
Today's been busy already, out this afternoon at dc's activity.
I've fixed the shoe rack, again!
Now trying to order a blind on a website that's not overly mobile friendly, just checked and it's in store so I might just give up and drive over.
Today I need to organise a food shop and generally make loads of stuff in the house magically disappear so the workmen can just get on. 2 weeks of chaos but it'll be wonderful when it's done.
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

BerfyTigot · 19/09/2026 12:13

Well life got in the way and I failed to make it to the charity shop. But I am decluttering another bag of books from dad's so all good.

Wild and windy weather here so I'm not venturing out!

I do like the idea of the go pouch @SingleThreadJoiner2 That's another project for this afternoon.

Well done everyone!

WintersFrog · 19/09/2026 16:20

Our @Mumtobabyhavoc is alive because she liked my post 💕 Thinking of you!

I too like your 'go pouch' @SingleThreadJoiner2. I tend to use either a canvas summer bag or a leather winter bag so I do usually have what i need. I've learnt to take whichever season's bag it is with me wherever I go, but typically I learnt that the hard way, and only in the last couple of years...

I now have a rucksack as well, which for two weeks I have prepared daily for the following day's exercise so at nearly 60 I finally feel like I'm a proper adult ( I wish I'd been as organised when the children were small!)

I love windy weather @BerfyTigot but I'm probably an oddity in that regard so I cannot blame you for staying in. Well done for doing more with your dad's house. I'm doing similar with my mum's. Babysteps.

I was intending to go out on my bike ( I've just downloaded the sofa to saddle app) but as it's quite gusty and I haven't sat on the thing for at least five years, I decided against it and did a walking workout instead ( a mama mia one on youtube should anyone be interested) They sound easy but I got a proper sweat on this morning.

I've come over all @Peridot1 and brain dumped and written a list. It's a good feeling. Have a lovely evening with your friends @Peridot1 🧡

Hoping all those with workmen in/expected survive it. So worth it in the end! My kitchen is looking very jaded and something needs to be done. Neither DH nor I are doers so these things wait for far too long. I have no excuse as I'm mostly in charge of my own work workload, but I just never quite get round to making home improvements. Tidy and uncluttered is as good as it gets. But it's starting to feel a little bit drab.

Being the rebel that I am, I'm going to ignore it all and get my nose stuck in a book. Leftovers for dinner as it is every Saturday.

Best wishes to all!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/09/2026 20:00

Hello, lovely thread friends. 🩷🍫🍬
Thank you for the kind thoughts and reaching out. 😘

It's been a challenge with school drop-off/pick-up as it adds to my day by limiting my time in one place and ability to go to X when I need to be back at the school by X time.

No extra jobs done here, but when Havoc is full-time days, starting next week, it will be easier. So, I've just been maintaining and multi-tasking to maximum efficiency.

Yesterday was:
wake up, wake mum up and get her IV started.
make and pack Havoc's lunch.
wake Havoc up and instruct on getting ready.
make Havoc's breakfast and toast/latte for me.
get Baby up, fed and dressed.
brush kids' teeth.
change mum's iv's and give oral meds somewhere in there.
get dressed, hair up.
clean up medical supplies; mum done and instruct to get dressed.
off to school.
Baby to playground, walk around the sports' fields, collect acorns and identify and learn about the trees. 🩷
home to pick-up mum, toilet Baby, snack then off to hospital for mum's dressing change.
visit elderly friend upstairs in hospital awaiting long-term-care (ltc) placement.
back down to mum and then home.
quick snacks, toilet baby (still in diapers, but learning). 😅
off to get Havoc w Baby.
home and clean lunch kit, give snacks then
force nap everyone. 😂
kids asleep at 3pm. Me, just dozed.
up at 4 and made light meal, omelette with r/pepper, asparagus, kale and cheddar; warmed bagels and spread with almond butter and jam. Havoc ate all (kale was the sticky point) , so promised chocolate treat later.
Pack after-activity snack.
woke up Baby and put same omelette and bagel together for Baby's meal.
Off to Havoc's activity.
Stopped for treat for kids on the way home (ice-cream sandwiches).
Home, kids ate their ice-creams (Baby also ate all of meal) 🥳
Bathed sweaty Havoc and laid out clothes.
Approx 7:45pm over (and up) to university observatory.
Joined virtual line to get in to view the supernova, saw our group time was 200+ minutes wait, so decided we'd skip that as it would be far too late for the kids, but saw the gorgeous 1/2 moon through one of the other telescopes and the kids had fun walking around and exploring.
We were all asleep just after midnight. 😅

Made cinnamon pancakes with cinnamon apples, blueberries and banana for breakfast.
I've had 3 lattes.

I've been reading everyone's posts this week. 🩷

Got into the garden tonight. Have a squash I'll bake tomorrow and fairly good load of tomatoes.
Also, went to Costco with the kids. Meant to pick up a few groceries, but the kids needed the toilet then food and after that my energy to shop was gone.

Thst looks amazing @Mumtobabyhavoc! I hope Havoc is settling in ok. Quite the change for you all.

Off out with littlest and her parents today. And hoping to squeeze in a bike ride later. House never got reset. But great headway made on the novel I'm reading and am all refreshed and ready to go today.

Peridot1 · 20/09/2026 13:06

Glad you are ok @Mumtobabyhavoc. It sounds very busy! But will get easier as you say when Havoc is on full days.

Other than getting the house back to normal after last’s dinner and doing some laundry I’m doing nothing today. About to empty dishwasher after is second load and have one more to do. There was a spillage on the wooden dining table last night so DH gave it a clean and then oiled it this morning so that’s a task ticked off my list as I was going to do it next month.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 20/09/2026 16:23

Hi all- sorry for such long silences. Upshot is I have a new laptop, and DH is trying manfully to transfer everything from my hard drive, without much success. That process has to stop for another week as he is away and so I am on his ancient desktop. I have NOT caught up with everyhting and everyone so send you all Thanks from here.

Hope everyone is well and fine. xx

All okay here other than computer woes. The lack of scrolling means I am more on top of the house and garden than I usually am though!

Hugs to everyone.

RunningKatie · 20/09/2026 16:30

Glorious Sunday here, been for an extended dog walk, dc had ice creams as did the dog.
I've done a food shop, packed for my big London day trip, prepared the bathroom for ripping out etc.
Now I need to make sandwiches and make sure everyone has laid out uniform and PE bags for tomorrow. Desperate to keep DH's stress levels low otherwise he'll have a migraine and be no use to anyone.
I've discovered I can send calpol syringes off for recycling so will do that later this week as we have loads and no calpol these days.
Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday.
So good to see you @Mumtobabyhavoc - you're still powering through your lists, my efforts always seem a bit meagre in comparison!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/09/2026 16:52

Good morning, lovlies. 🩷
Gorgeous day here.
Was up before dc, but little feet found me and thwarted my plans to have toast and a latte in peace and do an online course. 🤷‍♀️
Have got the tv on and watched a bit of a doc (title/info not listed, just Documentary), interviewing an Inuit man in his language with subtitles. Havoc watched a bit with me and asked, Is this a really old show? I started explaining Inuit, original indigenous peoples and distinct languages when mid-sentence Havoc walked away distracted by balloons and is now playing with Baby.

I wish we still had the laugh emoji @Mumtobabyhavoc !

Hope everyone is well this morning.

I have unfettered access to DH's computer for 5 days so am hoping to post more often!

Yesterday I cleared out various hanging baskets where the plants died over summer and replanted them with cyclamen. Last week after our wonderful cleaner left I suggested to the family that we make a pact to keep the house like she had just left for the entire week. So far it's been reasonably good!

Today's project:

  1. To wash and dry all our old duvet covers and pillow covers ready to be sent to either a charity shop or to rags and to sort out what shall be kept.

I'm planning on then colour coding each new bedroom set in the hope we will avoid the weekly mutterings of 'whose fitted sheet is this? Ours or DCs?'. Said mutterings are usually then accompanied by a scream of frustration and me kicking something.

Hope everyone has a lovely day. Thanks

WintersFrog · 21/09/2026 07:37

Morning all! I'm loving that oiling your table was planned for next month @Peridot1! That's real planning ( or professional level procrastination 🤔) Hope you had a fun evening!

👋 @FourSeasonsLobelia Good to 'see' you 💓

I hope things stay cool and calm for you and yours this week @RunningKatie 🙏 I am interested about recycling calpol syringes. Too late for us here, but we do have cats on metacam which also comes with a syringe.

First full week of school for Havoc @Mumtobabyhavoc? I hope it goes well, and I hope it makes life a little less fraught for you 💕

I'm going to have another coffee, then I am heading down to visit my mother before all her daily activities start ( honestly she's pushing 90 and she's still hard to pin down) I have some paperwork for her. Mid morning gym class for me, then home to deal with my list.

The national trust garden was an inspiration so I'm going to have a bit of a think. Bulbs need planting soon don't they?

I have acquired a lot of food containers from my mother's house as nobody else seems to want them and I have grand plans to do a bit of batch cooking. I think i need to rearrange fridge and freezer first though.

Happy Monday 😊 ☕️

Peridot1 · 21/09/2026 08:39

Good morning all.

Good to see you @FourSeasonsLobelia. Yay to having a computer for the week. I’m planning on cyclamens for some pots too here.

@WintersFrog - procrastination? Me? The very thought! 😂. I don’t actually have a list for next month yet really except I know I want to deep clean the house. And I’m going to Greece on Friday for a week so when I come back it will be next month so everything is now on next month’s list!

I was up early this morning but haven’t achieved anything yet. About to do dishwasher and put some laundry on. Then shower and head into a local town as I need to go to the post office and return something to a shop and do a small supermarket shopping. Although I’d forgotten there are major roadworks and I’m not sure I can get to where I want to be…… Might rethink that plan.

I also need to do a brain dump list. And a packing list. And tidy the small spare room so I can use it to sort my packing. And and and….

Have a good Monday all.

WintersFrog · 21/09/2026 14:12

I hadn't registered quite how far through September we are @Peridot1! It surely will be October very soon. Have a wonderful time in Greece! Is this the one where you take yourself and a pile of books?

I have seen to my mother and been pushed just about to my limits in the gym, but the coach is good and doesn't overdo it and I'm feeling pretty good.

Currently having a sort out of my larder. I might be moved to make corned beef hash later. Handy use of store cupboard staples. We have loads of water bottles as we had a two day water disruption recently and the council went mad giving everyone water ( definitely not ungrateful as we used some of it and have some left for future emergencies)

Then I intend to weed the patio. Dh hasn't been 100% lately but is still working full time so I'm trying to carry the bulk of the load at home. Must mow the lawn too. Think it's only been done once since no mow May, and it's finally grown enough to do again.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 21/09/2026 15:24

Your poor DH @WintersFrog (and you!) hope things go back to normal soon!

I have a very annoying and long todo list for work today so naturally instead I have rebooked the fridge collection, renewed my health insurance, booked a day out with friends for a couple of weeks' time, and filled in my DBS application for the school....
