Daily Project Round 10

Hello all.

Shattered here after a shopping trip with DS. John Lewis to look at beds. Then he decided he needed coffee and a bacon roll. Then he looked at clothes and bought some jumpers. Then we went to Boots. Then we went to buy him a suit for an event he is going to for work on Thursday. That took ages. Then we went to IKEA to look at beds. Have identified an IKEA bed and mattress. Home now and exhausted! But it was nice to spend time with him.

@mumofoneisonozempic - retailers are definitely getting worse. I ordered a full length mirror for my bedroom from Dunelm and paid for next day delivery. Should have been delivered yesterday but it is still at the depot….

@autumnangel - I know AI is really bad for the environment but I do find it so useful. I think they will ultimately have to make it less damaging to the environment because it’s not going to go away.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - hope you got some sleep!

Sunday morning - I have a large coffee and am discussing plans with dc2.
Yesterday we bought tiles, the safe choice was out of stock so we've gone bold. I'm a bit scared!
It's due to be a nice day, so washing out on the line and hopefully doing a nice dog walk with more coffee later.

I've been running around with my parents kitting out their flat for the past few days. And making a list of snagging items. Bit tired. H has left for a work trip of ten days but they are here to help, which is just as well as I've got two on site days this week. Must check status of school uniform laundry and make sure we have some for tomorrow morning.

I don’t think it matters that you don’t know what you’re doing at aquafit so long as you’re enjoying it @WintersFrog . There’s a real mix of ages and abilities in my class and no one seems to take any notice of what you’re doing or not doing!
Not much achieved at all this weekend as the cold now seems to have gone onto my chest and has developed into a cough.
It sounds like you had a productive trip out with your DS @Peridot1 . I know what you mean about spending time with your children once they’re a bit older. I think my DS is a similar age to yours.

Today my project is a nice one - I'm going to the garden centre to get some pansies for pots at our front door and then immediately planting them.

But that's after a 75 minute appointment at the dentist to have a tooth removed before an implant. But I'm refusing to think about that...

Oh bold is fun! We have white - very dull, but they were cheap. Next time I plan to go with more colour! Hope you had a lovely walk 😊

Oh Berfy you are brave to make plans following a long dental appointment! I always book mine for the afternoon so I can take to my bed afterwards ( I'm very good and calm with whatever they do and then conk out with delayed reaction
once I'm back home) Hope it goes smoothly and lovely idea about the pansies!

My gardener has been and done some de-jungling so it's time to start considering our what next plans. I've acquired some gardening books from my mum so I'm looking through those for inspiration. The allotment threads on here are good too.

I do the love the fresh start feeling of autumn. I used to start the new school year with good intentions as a teenager too.... Just want to do all the things!

@WintersFrog thank you, chaos always 😩 - and ditto on September being a fresh start! Love it, love autumn. Managed to sort some space for myself in the front shared garden, @BerfyTigot after months of difficulty with the neighbour, so I will be storing some things there and might get some plants - we'll see

Dd has gone to school by transport - she wanted me to take her but i sent her with them and I feel awful about it. So ive come home to have a lay down before tidying up a bit later

@BerfyTigot Hope the tooth extraction went ok. I went through all of that last year with extraction and implants. Like @WintersFrog i just came home and took to my bed after the extraction!

@mumofoneisonozempic - his last bed was Ikea and lasted well so fingers crossed! And fingers crossed mirror is out for delivery today. And I spoke to Dunelm this morning and got the delivery charge refunded. Hope DD is ok on the school transport. It’s hard for you though. You feel so guilty even though you know it’s best for her.

@petalpower hope you are feeling better.

@RunningKatie - can we see the tiles? Love having a nose at what others do! Especially as you went bold!

We went to a lovely anniversary party yesterday afternoon and then to the pub for a quick dinner. Of course lots of others ended up there too so we ended up there much later than we planned! So nothing much achieved here yesterday.

Today I have done two loads of laundry, plus one jumper and now have a towel wash on. Cleaned the main kitchen surfaces. Went to the gym. Folded up bedding I washed on Friday. Chased Bensons and DHL and Dunelm. About to have lunch and tidy and vacuum the hallway. Might try to persuade DH to put a couple of pictures up if he isn’t going to do some stuff in the garden. I should do a bit of weeding!

Thanks for the good wishes, I'm back and lying on the sofa. The anticipation was the worst part!

Going to take it easy so might not get to the garden centre today.

I'm impressed at how productive you all are!

Morning - I have quite the list today

• take car to garage - done this morning, now waiting for a phone call at lunch time to tell me the damage. I've been writing this so long the quote has come in - good job I was sitting down
• dishwasher on
• need to give SpiritDoggo her flea treatment today. She is in my bad books, she was marched home from her walk yesterday having rolled around in ecstasy in something vile. She got hosed down in the garden and is smelling more fragrant today.
• 12 kitchen unit doors to be cleaned as they are full of greasy finger prints as well as all the trims
• need to start pulling furniture away from walls in bedroom as painting prep starts next week.
• need to think about what to do to the wardrobe as it is bracketed to the wall and probably not very secure when detached
• some more coffee pods to recycle.
• floors need brushing and hoovering
• The back garden is full of stones and bricks from where the builders next door are putting a new roof on - so they need sweeping up
• we have very dusty furniture - probably because of the builders.

I don't blame you @BerfyTigot! It's the only way. That kind of dental work is very traumatic, even though you are numbed.

And don't be fooled about how productive we are! Personally I present my successes with a flourish purely because procrastination is my natural state of being 😎

My dad had a phrase about being either a good example or a horrible warning. I tried to be the former but sometime suspect I was the latter to my children. They've turned out to be quite well rounded individuals in the main so it couldn't have been all bad 😊

Next door's builders' mess adds insult to injury doesn't it @watchPhone! I bet Spiritdoggo thinks her lovely roll in stinky muck was worth a hose down. Haven't we all done similar? ( I mean doing the things we know will have consequences, not actually rolling on dead things!) I've certainly had my moments.

I've put a wash on, and the book box is in the car boot. Baby steps here folks. I'm off for a walk in a bit as I can't go swimming because it makes my hrt patch loose. I only have one left and GP has not yet approved my request for more. Talk about being the other end of the age range! At 13 it was 'can't go swimming miss (sniff) I've got a cold and a bad ankle'. Bit too achey to go to gym today so that's out as well, but I booked a class for tomorrow.

Got to go out mid morning for a routine appointment then meeting a friend for lunch. My project for today is to clear off top of a 'chester draws' then I probably ought to settle down to some actual wfh work this afternoon. So that's my day sorted!

I agree with @WintersFrog I love the sound of @Peridot1 's village life!!

Highs and lows here - yesterday was exhausting (left home to get train to London at 7am, back home 7pm) but worthwhile, on site day tomorrow cancelled mercifully, builders making good progress with the kitchen units.

But still chasing snagging, and this morning they set off the kitchen fire alarm while I was running a meeting, so had to rush off apologetically for a few minutes to sort it out. Also trying to get a parcel stuck in FedEx customs limbo unstuck...

Here are the tiles @Peridot1 - dc2 has already said they look like chains and we're in prison. So, that's a jolly start!
I'm in the office tomorrow but with lunch laid on so one less packed lunch to sort tonight. Just need to sort my office appropriate outfit out.
Next week I'm in London and it's due to be 24 degrees! I'm leaving at 5am, home at 9pm, so whatever I wear is going to look crumpled and tired by the time I get back.
Just off to walk dc to their activity then I need to go for petrol and empty another bathroom cabinet. Who knew micropore tape had an expiry date on it?!

Tbf @Peridot1 your village sounds so lovely 😄, despite me loving city life, I can imagine strolling through giving it my best Kim Tate (I know you said it has less drama than emmerdale 😄)

I do feel guilty honestly. I am a worrier really.

@WinterFrogs i slept this morning but still feel very very bleugh. Did manage to pop to tescos and got a bargain on dd's sprinkles (40p a pack, down from 1.40!) which is her cupcakes sorted for a while. You made me laugh out loud re swimming. Life comes at you fast, honestly.

@RunningKatie its bloody hot here!! cant enjoy my cosy season properly - hopefully you'll get aircon on the train though

I've got to get washing folded and away, put sheets in to wash then off to do some work followed by gym class. I need to drop off some of my mother's books to a local charity bookshop. They are in good condition but World of Books don't want then.
And I still haven't turned up my track suit bottoms.

Village life is very nice. It is a nice place to live. Some people you never see but the social ones are very nice and like a party! Not sure it does my liver much good though! If we had a shop it would be even better.

So. Bed-gate. We now have a collection day so can order the new bed. Had to threaten to escalate the matter as although I accepted the offer of a refund and collection they then ignored me despite two emails.

And Mirror-gate! Well it made it on to the DHL van on Tuesday. And I could live track it. I was delivery number 58. Tracked it through the morning and early afternoon. Then got the message driver was on way to drop number 57! Yay! I’m next!!! But no. Live tracking was switched off and no mirror was delivered. Yesterday morning I saw that it was back at the depot…. Then I got a message it was out for delivery. Would be delivered between 12.51 and 13.51. Which was way more precise than the previous day’s information. Live tracking showed I was drop number 31. Kept an eye on the tracking but didn’t want to get too excited. 12.51 came and went. At about 13.30 a van appeared. A man got out with a small box. And came to the door. Then said “hang on, I have something else for this address I think”. And there it was. My mirror. Finally!

Anyway. Jobs done yesterday - laundry, kitchen, hallway vacuumed, garden sofa cushions aired in the sun and then put away for winter. Some pots moved. Some weeding done. Some clothes tried on in front of new mirror. And went for a walk.

Today: dishwasher is emptied and one load of laundry is done. About to go for a walk. Then I’m going to clear out the fridge hopefully and give it a clean. I am going out for lunch with my neighbour so not sure how much else I’ll get done. Need to iron a shirt for DS. Might strip my bed too.

Morning slowly working through lists and lists of boring minutiae. I’ve managed to trek mud in everywhere from dog walks! My lovely walking boots that took me to Base Camp, across the Pyrenees and up mountains are dead - the leather has split right across the front - probably from drying them out on a radiator. They have been relegated to dog walking shoes.
Today’s list:

• resolve the mystery of how the ladder that was hanging across the wall (on a bike rack) is now perfectly upright and propped up against the wall. Builders next door ???
• brush up mud
• work out which bins go out tomorrow
• empty dishwasher and refill - how can one person use so many dishes!!!
• empty the slush from recycled pods down drains
• put away all the cleaning stuff from yesterday
• chase up progress on my car 😱
• Clean front of ovens
• Been chatting to ChatGPT about one of the plants so been training it up a coir pole to see if the numerous tiny leaves become big leaves 🤣🤣
• gather up all the random pegs 🤔

Delighted the tiles have been well received, I'm nervous for the job starting but hoping it goes smoothly. Last few times we've had trades in it hasn't been without drama.
Dc2 is under the weather, gone to bed early which is unheard of. We're waiting on an ENT referral but I think we need to see if we can get it escalated.

I still need to send off a box of books to World of Books. I promised the cash to dc1 to buy more books. I'm taking some time back from work soon so that might end up on the long list for then.

Today I recycled a LOAD of newspapers from my dad's house. Doesn't sound like much but I'm the only person who throws out stuff there so it's had a significant effect on the state of the house.

Tomorrow I'm tackling books, and taking them to charity shop.
