There are many stresses that can come with school-age kids. Whether it’s keeping on top of their homework, ensuring their uniforms are always clean and ironed for the next day or simply surviving the morning mayhem and getting everyone out the door in one piece.

But one of the biggest sources of strains, as discussed over on our Mumsnet talkboards, is packed lunches.

As parents, we all want our kids to have a good meal that fuels them for a busy day. But you may be dealing with a fussy eater who turns their nose up at your best efforts or a child who constantly has lunchbox envy with their friends. Plus, some schools have banned certain items from packed lunches in a bid to promote healthy eating.

That’s why Soreen Lunchbox Loaves are a game-changer for parents. The delicious Malt Loaf we all remember from our childhood is available as individually-wrapped bars and comes in an array of exciting fruity flavours, Banana, Apple, Strawberry and Malt.

They’re bursting with fruity flavour and are deliciously squidgy making them a favourite for all ages. They’re school friendly, provide a source of fibre and contain under 100 calories each, making them a healthier choice for the lunchbox that your kids will enjoy.

What are Soreen Lunchbox Loaves?

Containing the sweet deliciousness of a cake bar but with up to 50% less sugar* and significantly less fat, Soreen Lunchbox Loaves will feel like a treat for your child’s lunch box without the associated guilt that parents feel when packing something unhealthy. They’re vegan-friendly and the squidgy texture leaves no crumbs, making them easy for on-the-go snacking and perfect for little hands.

What flavours are available?

As well as the tasty Original Malt flavour that’s packed with juicy raisins, Lunchbox Loaves come in a variety of fruity flavours. Located in the bakery aisle of all major supermarkets, you'll find them in Strawberry, Apple or Banana flavour as a pack of 5 individually wrapped mini loaves. They also come in an exciting choice of seasonal flavours, including Lemon or Raspberry & White Chocolate for Easter and Cherry Jellies or Toffee Apple for Halloween.

Are they healthier for children?

Lunchbox Loaves contain up to 50% less sugar than average cake bar* and are a great source of fibre, which can help boost digestion, keep kids fuller for longer, and are school friendly.

The inclusion of malt, barley, and fruit pieces means that Lunchbox Loaves are complex carbohydrates that release energy slowly throughout the day. Malt is also a rich source of B vitamins, including thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, folate, and vitamin B-6.

Lunchbox Loaves are advocated as the perfect snacking alternative to snacks that are high in fat, sugar and salt (HFSS) and fit the Government’s Nutritional Food Standards for Schools making them a trusted choice for parents.

Are they Mumsnet approved?

Yes, the Lunchbox Loaves rank highly in our forums, as parents rate the delicious taste and compact size.

“We love Soreen Loaves in our house - they’re perfect for lunchboxes! I put the banana ones in my 7 yr old son’s lunchbox and he really enjoys them. My 18 month old son also enjoyed them as a snack.” Fostec1

“The banana ones are a regular entry into my dd's lunchbox. She's 3yo and allergic to dairy and these are dairy free and just the right size for a "cakey" thing.” FoofFighter

“The Soreen lunchbox loaves actually have less sugar in than a large petit filous.” Fivemoreminutes1

“Kids love the banana ones (all 3 of them) - DS1 and DH love the classic ones (better than a biscuit is what they said).” dinkystinky

Can adults enjoy them too?

Lunchbox Loaves aren’t just popular with kids. The low-calorie snack is ideal for elevenses or an afternoon treat, and the individually wrapped design makes for simple portion control.

“Soreen Lunchbox Loaves! I take them to work and it makes me feel like I'm having a cake bar (almost!).They are slow release, too, so you won't get a sugar hit and feel hungry afterwards,” Onesundaymorning

“My husband was very excited when these turned up the other day. I think we may have eaten more than the kids…” theshooglypeg

What allergens do they contain?

The Lunchbox Loaves contain wheat but are vegan-friendly and free from nuts, dairy and eggs. Parents can also be assured that all products are made and stored on a nut free site.

About Soreen

Soreen’s iconic malt loaf was first developed back in 1938 by John Sorensen and has become one of the most popular British snack options. Beloved for its squidgyness, the use of malt as an ingredient gives it its distinctive brown colour and sticky texture. Malt is also packed full of vitamins and minerals, making it a healthier option.

In fact, one of Soreen’s biggest aims is to feed the nation responsibly, which has been a drive behind the introduction of their snack options, including Lunchbox Loaves. The Manchester-based factory prides itself on retaining a happy environment and many of the employees have been with Soreen their entire working lives. Sustainability is also a core value, with Soreen making their range plant-based and trialling new packing options that are recyclable.
