Ooh, looks good. Thanks OP. I've missed WPUK. Thry seem to have been a bit quiet for a while.

They did have an online meeting in July - but went on holiday for August.

Back promptly on 1st September!

Oh this looks like a good event. Has anyone been to an online one before? I would like to go but my toddler might not be asleep by the time it starts. Are you allowed to join late?

I am not keen on downloading apps onto equipment, usually because of limited storage space. I've just been looking into how to access Zoom meetings without having to and found this.
www.google.com/amp/s/chromeunboxed.com/use-zoom-video-meetings-no-download-chrome-web-store-app/%3famp

The article says
"it is also up to the host of the meeting to allow users to join directly via the browser. That means you’ll have to get with the meeting host and have them enable this feature if you want to take advantage of it."

Does anyone know if this was an issue for the previous webinar? Please enable the 'share on browser' feature WPUK if you haven't done so already...

This was so so good! I really hope that WPUK does more of these.

That was a really excellent conversation. Four really interesting women sharing their experiences and thoughts on male violence. Karen Ingala Smith is a great chair, so approachable, getting the conversation going and asking questions. I think it was (unfortunately) right to miss the Q&A as the panelists barely had enough time themselves.

WPUK did live tweeting of the event so an outline of the discussion is available #WPUKAgainstMVAWG and they will post a recording asap. 750 attendees I think they said. WPUK are doing a fantastic job of nurturing grassroots feminism. (Look out for Kiri Tunks write up of TUC 2020 - there was no debate, women's rights are not a priority for the TUC)

I managed to go straight into the Zoom chat through my browser but didn't have four people visible at one time like some pictures on Twitter showed. Partial bits of comments were on my screen but I didn't see anywhere to add comments in either. Didn't want to jigger the whole thing by pressing the wrong buttons...so just watched, listened and learnt.

Anyway bloody fab.

@Socrates11 as far as I'm aware you can access zoom through a browser, i don't think you need the app (but I've had the app for forever so not 100% sure).

I really hope they have rigorous security in place on the call, its a ripe target Sad

Yes, I did manage that bit ColleagueFromMars, I just wasn't confident enough to fiddle about whilst the conversation was live and get any additional features working lol. Yes I hope the security holds up too - for future events.

Thanks for the feed back. Will look out for the recording. I think the other online meetings they have done are now available.
