Start using Mumsnet PremiumPaediatrician claiming sex is a spectrum
(43 Posts)Fabulous!
So put of curiosity, when they ars looking at side effects or doses etc which chart do they look at?
What a twit.
That's very "I'm not angry with you Alex, I'm just disappointed" 🤣😂🤣
Ha ha, brilliant! Have looked up the thread and he has now backtracked and accepted that sex is binary and apologised for bringing intersex into it!
It was a well toned answer by Susan Bewley. And after an excellent tweet also from ClaireCAIS and others on DSDs, Alex apologised and admitted that he did in fact understand that sex was NOT a spectrum and that he understood that he should not use people with DSDs like this....
It does seem that he has political aspirations.
So in other words, it was all bollocks and he knew perfectly well that it was all bollocks but was saying it for personal effect?
Does he have a beard?
The way he admits his mistake, having listened to others, then corrects himself AND APOLOGISES is quite something.
I have a lot of respect for him.
Heavens! The potential for a Green Party where some candidates understand both what a woman is and how changes to the law affect them. AND who can admit fault and learn from mistakes??!
They won't get far in politics...
@MiraWard77 I see it slightly differently. I think he's being manipulative and disingenuous. As a medic he knows sex is binary. He thought the spectrum line would play well and when it didn't he changed his tune.
Unforgivable to use his status as a doctor to lend credence to something which is not true and may harm children.
that is brilliant
he is clean shaven but may identify as bearded.
he works on the drug policy -arf- for the green party

Susan Bewley is brilliant. She expressed a lot of sense early in lockdown when a lot of things were up in the air with maternity services.

Yup, in the Green Party whose regional co-chairs are expected to identify as 'self-identifying non-female' or 'self-identifying non-male'.
Ha! Got caught out there, wokey blokey.
Yeah, you're probably right @BostonFernGreen
It got him a LOT of publicity too. Probably really helping his candidacy.
I tend to agree with BostonFern. I felt that it was very manipulative to have posted it in the first place. It was in answer to Sharhar Ali's answer of 'what is a woman' so I did see it as a calculated risk that backfired hugely. He had no where to go to maintain his credibility.

Absolutely, he tried to use his "status" to manipulate. They really do stoop very low don't they.
I’m disgusted he used his status to say something that is untrue but it shows the level they have to go to, to assert TWAW. It’s a bit like some of the responses to the Rugby Union proposal to not allow transwomen to play in women’s rugby. Despite all the evidence and he process that has been followed the results are still queried, questioned and still cannot see that women’s safety should be the prime consideration. This is one argument - we will still have to go through it on all the others with people like this doctor telling lies because they don’t like the result. Fucking unbelievable.
Susan Bewley is brilliant!!
I'm sure the little idiot wouldn't have backed down if his tutor hadn't shown up. It makes you wonder why they do it when they known they're wrong. Just enjoys pissing on women maybe?
God love Susan Bewley, she's a star.

When you think about it, it is quite extraordinary that a medical doctor would rather say something he knew to be untrue, and risk looking like an ignoramus, than say something truthful and be thought a bigot.
