What on earth is going on with Princess Charlene of Monaco?

The latest update doesn't seem to make a huge amount of sense - a sinus infection has kept her away from Monaco since January? I understand that would mean you couldn't fly, but surely someone with her status would be offered another mode of transport to return to her children?
She doesn't look well in the video, I hope it's just poorly shot and that she's not seriously poorly.

It's a long way to go by boat from South Africa to Monaco, and through some not very safe waters, so I'm not surprised that hasn't been offered. And who would want to drive through an entire continent when they're unwell?

Charlene has never truly looked happy since her wedding, she was absolutely beautiful on her wedding day but she looked so miserable. There are many rumours of her trying to flee Monaco and was stopped a few times. And she was up against some very powerful people with unlimited resources and money so not as easy for her to have got away as the average person leaving a situation.
I hope she is healthy and recovering from what it may be. I think we may find out the real story one day but not for the time being.

Im not sure she really wanted to go through with the wedding and I think I read somewhere that it was agreed that if she was still unhappy after xxx number of years (10?) and provided she had given him an heir to the dynasty he would allow her a divorce. No idea if any of that is true or not.

I was also wondering about this...the whole story seems very bizarre and she looks really unwell. Especially compared to that photo of her from 2019 in the article below. There is something being covered up and just hope it will end well.

DH is a dental surgeon who regularly performs sinus lifts which is what supposedly caused the original infection. It‘s a fairly common procedure where synthetic bone material is injected just below the sinus membrane to increase the upper jaw bone thickness. This is required in some patients to enhance the success rate of a dental implant.

Sinus lifts are almost always done without general anaesthesia in a regular dental surgery as an outpatient. It does not involve cutting or reattaching bones (which the bone-grafting phrase implies).

To be incapacitated for months following a failed sinus lift is virtually unheard of, especially considering that she will have access to the best dental surgeons in the world. If it really happened as described then she would have be one of the unluckiest patients in the world and the case needs to be documented in medical literature.

If Meghan or Harry were in the same situation then the media would be in a frenzy. Luckily they seem to be giving Charlene the privacy needed to sort out whatever situation is going on.

I suspect the divorce is being hashed out. What surprises me is that she is away from the kids so long but she won't get to keep them anyhow post divorce.
Her husband is a horrible man. I don't think he's been faithful at all.

What I don’t understand is how the wedding even came about if she was so unhappy on the day itself??
She looks so gaunt and haunted in this shot it’s so sad.

I read somewhere a few years ago that she tried to leave several times before the wedding when it was revealed he had fathered yet another child with another woman during their relationship. She was stopped and persuaded to stay. It was a tabloid though, so who knows. But she definitely seemed very sad.

It’s very strange, I wonder why she went through with the wedding if she was so keen to get out of it but who knows what went on - could have been pressure, could have been lots of things.

Whatever is going on I feel so incredibly sad for her children.

I just googled and looked at the wedding photos of Princess Charlene and Prince Albert in 2010. She was gorgeous! Quite a lot younger than her husband.

By all accounts she has been a great success in Monaco, active in many areas, as well as having been a champion swimmer.

I also saw details of the prince's two children born to other women but they were born long before he married and he supports them, one of them lives in Monaco.

I too hope the princess recovers before too long, there may be more to her illness than problems following her sinus operation and she just doesn't want a fuss or too much media attention. Who can blame her? One thing is certain, it's better to be ill in private than in public.

She must miss her children dreadfully but we have been in a pandemic and they aren't small children any more.

I don't get the impression she has been a success in Monaco. Doesn't really speak French or seem very engaged with much at all.

Apparently she is not returning to Monaco until October. Very strange. She could easily return to Monaco by other means, or with medical staff aboard a plane.

I think she's in some kind of trouble and has been since the start of the marriage. She seems very unhappy, poor woman.
