Fine yesterday , brought me a shrew first thing but didn't eat his breakfast and hasn't eaten since and can't tempt him with anything.

More worryingly he's been curled up in his basket since lunch time and can barely muster up a purr when I stroke him let alone any opera singingSad

I'm taking him to the vet first thing.

I'm sooo worried about him Sad

Hopefully he's eaten too many shrews. How old is he?

Is it hot where you are? My cat cannot stand heat and will sleep for hours where ever is peaceful

He's about a year and a half .

Do they get sick from eating too many mice?

One of mine is about the same age. She goes and catches things. Sometimes she then won't eat. I'm Blush to say one of them also marched into a neighbour's house and ate their food. including stealing a packet of dreamies!
Cow bags. The pair of them.
Must give them tummy ache?!

Am imagining how worried you must feel Dame, let us how know how the visit to vet's goes tomorrow.

Has he evacuated at all, Dame? (As far as you know.)

Report
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 23/09/2016 22:54

I don't know Cozie,he was out last night and uses our garden as a litter tray normally. I've put a make shift litter box with some top soil in it next to his basket in case the cat flap is too much for him.

I picked him up and normally he struggles up to rest his chin on my shoulder but he just let me hold him then put him back in his basket.

No sign of cuts or scratches and teeth seem ok.

Had all vacs? Neutered? Any limbs hot? Feet ok? No ticks?
I'm not a neurotic cat parent. Honestly! Blush

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 23/09/2016 23:00

Yep,all up to date with everything, cant see any ticks and I brushed him with his grooming brush so has a good look. Yes neutered. Can't tell if his limbs are hot but he's letting me touch him fine including paw 'hand holds.'

Oh bless. Wonder if he's had a nighttime adventure?! Mine are shut in each night. Paranoid? Me?! Wink

I'd love to keep him in but he started out a stray plus he's Bengal or Mau ( VERY vocal about wanting to go out!!) Usually sleeps with us until about 4or5am then he has breakfast when dh gets up at 5.30am.

Oh Bengal! Totally different animal. I grew up with Burmese. Vocal isn't close. I'm hoping you have just offended him. Grin
I now have two terrible torties!

Report
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 23/09/2016 23:17

If we offend him it's very obvious- usually he sits right in front of us and talks AT us until our ears bleedGrin

It's like all the stuffing has been knocked out of him.

Its very easy to tell when a bengals ill because it's so quiet.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/09/2016 11:53

Just back from the vet's ,they've kept him in. He's REALLY poorly - the vet's words. He has an UTI or a blockage. They've put him on a drip and given him antibiotics. He is SO quiet it's awful and he's not moving. A special diet was also mentioned.

He also has fleas. Ffs. I do Advocate religiously! I'm washing everything in sight and got some spray for the carpet and rugs. I can't give him any more advocate for another 2 weeks ,does anyone know if I can put a flea collar on him?

£300 so far, thank fuck for insurance!

I went "oh nooooo, Puccini's poorly" to my cat adoring DH when I saw this thread title. I hope the vet trip is OK and he's all better very soon. We do fret terribly, don't we?

Report
Threetoedsloth · 24/09/2016 11:57

Oh goodness, cross post. Poor puss. Poor you. The whole sloth family (two of us plus two cats) will keep everything firmly crossed for great improvement very quickly.

The advocate kills fleas but they can still get fleas, it just means that they'll die when they bite him. Indorex the house, don't go putting a flea collar on him. They can be very toxic to the cat.

Don't panic, the vet knows what to do.
