Beauty Advent Calendars 2019

It’s almost that time again! Anyone have their eye on anything?

There is a good overview here: www.marieclaire.co.uk/beauty/beauty-advent-calendars-2019-39069

I’m waiting on the M&S one as I loved it so much last year (no sign of it so far but I suspect it will be similar to 2018 for release date, so around start of November). I also like the look of the Look Fantastic and Nuxe but three may be pushing it. Grin

If money was no object I’d be on the Jo Malone and Lush calendars.

I’m going to look at the link but I fancy the nyx one from ASOS

Aw yeah I’ve been waiting for this!

Off to read the link thanks

Will look at the link. I got decleor last year...wouldn’t buy again.

Clarins is usually good but a 12 day one. Marks and Spencer always good.

Amazon one is amazing every year.

I always get the Liberty and M&S one. I liked the Elle one last year too. I'm looking out for all the reviews. Very soon someone will be along to say that they are all a waste of money, too much packaging and lots of unnecessary products.

Housewife2010 I think that there's too much packaging and lots of unnecessary products 😂

Really Ree does a good round up with more detail - and she lists the content behind a link so you don’t spoil yourself if you don’t want to.

Oooh nice link, thank you. I’m stupidly excited.

One calendar that doesn’t often make it onto these lists is the Superdrug Bloom perfume one. I got it last year for a few quid after Christmas (I think it was £20 originally) and it was great - basically Jo Malone dupes in cute little bottles, a really unexpected treat in grey old January. A steal even at full price so if you see one this year ignore the flimsy packaging and grab it.

I was just coming along to start a similar thread so pleased to see there's a discussion going!

I loved the M&S one last year. I think it's great value because you can get it so cheaply when you buy other stuff from them, which is easy to do.

I was wondering whether that's the best one for my criteria?

  • that sort of price point
  • multiple brands rather than single brand
  • beauty product focus rather than makeup/candles/bath bombs focus

I see Next does one, and I've loved Amazon beauty boxes before so their advent calendar should be good too. I might have to look at the contents and then try to forget them before December haha.

I'm glad I found this thread. I will give the M and S one a miss this year as there were too many products I didn't use in last year's. I'm seriously considering either of the Boots ones and/or The Body shop one.

Does anyone have any recommendations for
makeup focused ones? I've had the m and one and loved it, but I can't wear perfume and am quite particular about skincare so mini lipsticks/mascaras/blushes would be ideal but nobody seems to do a mix of these with different brands as far as I can see.

Diptyque, Elemis and Fortnum & Mason look good this year.

The Space NK one looks fab! A serious contender for me this year!

I was wondering whether it was too early for an Advent Calendar thread. I got the Liberty and M&S last year, loved them both. Tempted by the Elemis one this year.

I get no7 one and soap and glory one

I want elemis this year. I'm counting down until they release it

I had liberty last year and it was absolutely stunning and a real treat but weirdly I found it a bit overwhelming. Half way through I had so much stuff and was getting myself all confused. I'm weird I know. But it was gorgeous, I just fancy a change and elemis is doing wonders for my skin at the moment.

Yay! Thanks OP, love these threads!

Well I'm torn as I can only afford one and last year the M & S for me wasn't as good as the previous year however the price point is perfect especially as I use the qualifying spend to get Christmas gifts.

How does the amazon one compare?

I'm worried it'll be the Wagamama effort for me if I don't get the M & S one ... where I decide to have Ramen and not Katsu curry, not enjoy it as much and the person next to me gets Katsu and I spend my lunch regretting deviating from what I know Grin

I didn’t much care for the Amazon contents when I read about it last year (I didn’t but it), because a lot seemed like supermarket brands. But it is quite good value for money.

The Look Fantastic is probably the most likely for me this year still but I am eyeing up the ASOS now too. And Space NK, though it is crazy expensive!

@littlepooch - I’m curious about your experience with Elemis. I love skincare but I’m a little wary about going for a whole calendar if a brand I’ve not used before. I generally use Paula’s Choice and Nuxe, with some The Ordinary thrown in.

@Writersblock2 that is my slight hesitation. I've always had m&s, liberty etc which all have a variety of brands.
But I really am loving elemis at the moment and it's so expensive this seems like a good way to try a few more bits.

I may still cave and just go for one of the other mixed ones as yet! 😂

@lightningstrikes - have you tried the Space NK one before?

I prefer multi-brand calendars but there are so many good ones. plots to buy loads Confused #firstworldproblems
