Kimonos?

I’ve been seeing these in a few shops and have started to wonder if i could wear one without looking ridiculous, or like I’m wearing my PJs and dressing gown. I fancy a black sheer one wth a big flower print but it would have to be quite long, as I’m a pear and anything wafty that stops on my hips makes me look enormous.

Anyone embracing the kimono this spring/summer? Or are they just stupid?

They are my summer staple, and have been for years but I'm not fashionable, I just find them good for hiding fat wobbly arms.

Over skinny jeans and a vest top I think they look great.
Even wide leg trousers in a block colour for this spring / summer will be good.

Ooooh, I like the sound of a kimono, where do you thinks best to get one from?

I bought a custom made one from here which was good quality and reasonably priced - depends if you want short length as not sure they do longer:

Yes, I am looking out for one too. I saw a few people wear them last summer with skinny jeans and a top underneath. They are stunning. I don't want one with a belt but a flowy one.

Love these kimonos. Has anyone seen any mid-thigh length boho style ones around

This is my most favourite and treasured Kimono, I brought it from East around 4 - 5 years ago and live in it during the summer months over jeans and cami top or jersey maxi dress, I was so excited to see another one listed on eBay recently so I snapped it up and I fear the original one disintegrating through too much wear.

I suggest you look at Zara... I have found some lovely ones from their website/ store or even their products from eBay.

ohhiyou

Oooh they are very nice. I've been looking for a Kimono since last summer. I was in town tomorrow and I checked out a few that looked good online from Oasis, John Lewis and Hush but TBH they were all pretty rubbish in person. The material was awful and they went up to £70 ish. I'd like a chiffon type kimono.

I saw someone in one last year at a coffee shop. It was chiffon and mid length with lots of rich green colours. She looked stunning.

I won an ebay auction for one last night, a chiffony topshop one that looks to be about mid thigh length.

Also saw a nice hip length one in a charity shop today, from M&S, but it was a very vanity size 12 and would have wrapped around me several times.

Those one hundred stars kimono’s are very inexpensive.

What a great find, thank you ohhiyouitsme.

Oh, I'm glad you like them 🙂! I love mine and will probably buy another one. The material is lovely - it's fine and not stretchy.

I haven't washed mine yet as I've only worn it for a couple of hours.

I came in to say 100 stars. I have the London map one and a stork/heron green one. Black skinny jeans and heels and a cami and they’re fab for a night out. The fabric quality is absolutely beautiful.

I really like the one hundred stars ones too they’re beautiful.
I also like the idea of the traditional Furisode kimono. How would I wear a more traditional long sleeved kimono, would it just be for wafting beautifully around the house and garden?

ohhiyouitsme I was going to ask you what the quality was like in reality as I had looked on the site & saw the Kew Gardens ones & thought about buying as a gift - I had not heard of this company before - can I ask was it packaged nicely ?

thank you

apologies - I was reading on my phpne & hadn't seen that Alabasterangel6 had already made a comment about quality as well.

I think I will go with my gut instinct & buy for my friends birthday - wh doesn't need a kimono !
