Quick vote: silver converse, yay or nay?

Have been eyeing these silver converse for a while, and now they're slightly reduced.

Am I too old for them? (I'm 42). Or are they a bit naff whatever your age? Or shall I buy them? Help me decide, please!

I'm 31. I have them. They're gorgeous.

it's a yay from me. I'd wear them, and I'm 50 (but I'm of the 'wear whatever the fuck you want' school of dressing).

I'm your age and I'd wear them, although I appreciate that doesn't necessarily help!

I think they look nice because they're a 'soft' silver colour, IYSWIM, rather than see-your-face-in-them shiny.

I think they would go with loads of things, especially when we eventually get some nice spring weather!

Yay. They're lovely.

They look gorgeous. But I agree with Hopping - converse are SO uncomfortable. Like duct-taping bricks onto your feet.

It's a yes from me too and I'm 47. The only thing I would say is if you're not used to converse, they provide sod all support and can be uncomfy after awhile.

Bought them!

I mostly live in converse anyway - it was the silver I wasn't quite sure about. Thank you all for helping me spend Grin

Re: comfort, I get those orthotic insole things from Boots. They feel much more supportive with those in.

i am well older than you and went through theri sale page like a dose of salts the other day!

I ended up ordering the gold foil leather ones which are way nicer in real life....leather toe and nicer with a dress I think

But I was pining for the woven silver ones and dd spotted them in store yesterday and icked them up for me, so now i am all set for summer....gold and silver .
Now I want your ones too......

I would and I'm 53.

Saw someone wearing beaded lilac ones the other day and have been unable to find them online but the silver is really pretty. Tempted.

I was expecting not to like them (sparkly is not my bag) but they're ace! I'd wear them and I'm pushing 40. I think any age could rock those.

I got them for DD who is six and have been kicking myself ever since because I want them and even I think matching shoes with my DD might be too much. Go for it.

I think I will have to show DH this thread, when he makes his inevitable "what have you bought now?!" type comment. The collective wisdom of S&B Mumsnet can't be wrong!

tondelaya, you can never have too many pairs of shoes, surely? And lambzig, your DD will grow out of hers in no time...

don't listen to lakehouse! she doesn't know what she's talking about Grin especially as I have now bought both gold and silver. I don't care about looking desperate - I think you only look desperate if you are desperate, and if you don't feel desperate you can't look it.

taybert · 23/03/2017 18:20

Well if it looks desperate then there are plenty of desperate looking women about and I'm happy to be part of their crew.

What nonsense!

Converse are universal. They look good on anyone.
