Talk to me about LK Bennett shoes

TheGrassIsJewelled · 16/09/2011 11:36

I have never spent more than £50 on a pair of shoes, but am coveting these ones.

Are LK Bennett really good in terms of quality?
Are these classic enough to last me years?
Where would you wear them? Smart enough for evenings out? (dinner, not drunken craziness)

They're out of stock online, but have tracked a pair down. Now just need help justifying it!

They are the best shoes. I love them and have about 8 or 9 pairs - really good quality and many styles so you can go classic or fashion-led, tis your choice. Worth every penny - as are their bags (have 4, want more).

I really wouldn't hesitate if I were you - and the added benefit is that they're cleverly structured to elongate the foot so even great clod-hoppers like mine look all long and fine in them.

Am watching with interest. They are lovely lovely lovely, but soooo expensive. But if enough people come and persuade me they are worth it I might be persuaded.

I must have 7 or 8 pairs - they are really comfy and fit perfectly and are really well made with leather liners and soles so your feet breathe. The Shilo range come in loads of colours, have matching bags Grin and are definitely smart work shoes. I have the Sledge platforms in nude - they are yummy and are seen on all the best feet (Kate Middleton wears em!!) - though i had mine first - so there. Grin

Definitely worth the money - cheap shoes hurt your feet and dont last. They also take very well to re-soling.

(actually make that 10 - have just checked)

I bought the lower heeled version of those in nude about 6 months ago and am too scared to take them out of the box in case I sully them Blush. They are soooooooo beautiful.

Bought a patent bag at the same time and it is great, still looks brand new despite daily use and lots of being flung about and not being well looked after.

While I totally agree with everything that's been said about L K Bennett shoes (I have one pair, sale purchase and love them) you could have a look at these:

www.clarks.co.uk/find/productfamily-is-maryandclarks/product-is-20348947

They are Very slightly less elegant and slightly lower heeled but leather lined. There's a discount code knocking around somewhere on here too.

I have lots of them. Very good quality. As good as more expensive brands.

I have a weakness for LKB shoes, I have at least 10 pairs. They are lovely shoes and don't date but I wouldn't say the wear and last better than cheaper shoes particularly. I find the heals wear down very quickly and they are leather soled so if you intend to wear them outside you need to get them resoled or they can get trashed.

I have those shoes you have linked to in Dark Blue OP and they are beautiful and very comfy BUT I have nicked the patent in a few places on the back and the heal is really quite scuffed in places and that is without even wearing them outside (I always travel to work in another pair of shoes - have maybe worn these outside on four or five occasions), I have had them a year.

The other thing to note is I actually went a half size up from my normal size with these as they seemed to run a little small (find LKB normally true to size).

I hope I haven't put you off them if you are in love with them, I don't regret buying the pair I have but don't want you to think they will last forever and ever.

OP I have to say for just over half the price I think I would get those Clarks ones Hellon linked to, I think I am going to buy the oxblood patent ones in the same style, no-one would know the difference.

Ooh I have the exact shoes TGIS is about to get - they are lovely OP! (although I had to have them resoled before wearing outside which was annoying - for £150 you'd think they would put usable soles on them!) I've had them about 3 weeks now and haven't yet worn them outside because I'm worried they will rub my feet and cut my heels - is this likely? Should I keep trying to wear them in inside? Thanks!

I've got loads of LK Bennett shoes - absolutely love them. They're the right mix of beautiful but practical (unlike the very high end brands which can hardly be worn outside). They last well and don't need re-heeling immediately either.

I absolutely love them - have several pairs.
However if I were you i would go for Sledge or Shilo, bit higher heel so smarter/slinkier for evening out.
A mid heel can look a bit Clarks-ish. The high heels really make LKB stand out - they have an elegant and fashionable shape. Great shoes for the money.
