Message from MNHQ: We've taken this thread down overnight as it seems to be causing an awful lot of reports. We've a few things to discuss about it at MNHQ in the morning but we'll let you know as soon as we can what's happening with the thread. Thanks for your patience.
OK I'm pretty patient but this morning has been, gone and is becoming a distant memory.
This refers to Graham Linehan's @glinner very calm and sensible thread which included contact details for Dawn Austwick at the Big Lottery Fund in the UK. A page or two of replies saying thanks for the email address. So far, so drama-free.
It got targeted by anti woman campaigners who sent their Twitter mob to join up and call mumsnetters dry menopausal old hags, call Justine insulting names etc and mass report to get the thread shut down, presumably to prevent readers finding Dawn Austwick's name and email address.
So any update?
What were the few things that needed discussing?
Can you advise your users how we can use the site without whole threads being wiped?
Advice please.
I'm interested in this too.
The thread really wasn't going well, and on reflection we can't see the value in putting it back. There's a discussion thread about the issues here (which also contains Glinner's post).
I hope Mumsnet can see exactly how they are being controlled here.

Thanks for answering my first question.
It would be very helpful if you could answer the other two.
What - you can't see the point in putting it back

Shame. Maybe link up with the oh so sensitive Liam Hackett who just wants to stop us talking altogether. Slow handclap.
