Archers Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you long to hear Pip again, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please. We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from //www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3853783--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-5-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: //www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Thanks to @LillianGish and @PersephonePromotesEquanimity for the title suggestions.

Current events: as @Bailey0703 has astutely spotted, it's Anti-Slavery Day tomorrow - could this herald the beginning of the end of the horses storyline? I do hope so. Horrible stuff, but what a blow for Kirsty. They're laying on the dramatic irony with trowel at the moment.

What do we think will happen to Alice and Chris? I can't see this pregnancy going to term and ending well. Sad I don't think the marriage will survive either, giving Brian a chance to revisit his classic line about having to treat this as Alice's starter marriage. Grin

Will Elizabeth end up on a date with Vince Casey? That would put the cat among the pigeons at Lower Loxley.

Over to you ...

Still keeping a watching eye on these threads. Thanks, Gasp0de. I've really lost the habit of listening to TA without my evening commute home. Sad

Thanks for the new thread.

I want to hear Adam and the other farmers talking about no deal Brexit and food standards and what it’s going to do to them.

Thanks Gasp. Might as well get it out of the way now.

Ha! Thanks, Gasp0 - excellent titling. StarWink

How I love a new thread. And now that we have dialogue, and scenes with more than two people, and some progress with a plot or three, this one should race along splendidly.

DadDadDad I'm afraid that's just not good enough! There is always the film, or BBC Sounds. Wink

Thanks for the new thread GaspO

DadDadDad has been missing some brilliant writing; it is worth listening to the last 3 omnibuses - honest!

The trouble with including conversations about farming is that the SWs would need to know what they were going on about (on second thoughts, they never bother to0 much about anything else....).

DH and I ventured out into rural Wiltshire on Friday (or rather we acted as a taxi service for DC on an INSET day). We were surprised how busy everywhere was, to the extent we were turned away from one pub and ended up at another that soon became equally busy. If Kenton starts moaning about takings again it will reinforce my view that they are dreadful licensees. [I can recommend "The Bell" at Broughton Gifford]

All ears for the next esipode. And a bit of blatant place marking.
Happy not to have heard Pip for ages.

Thanks, @Madcats, for the nudge. I've just listened to last Sunday's film, and it was a good immersion back into the world of Ambridge. Archers

I enjoyed the sparring between Susan and Jenny ("I'm not a shock jock, that's something else" "Yes - you are something else!" Grin ). Presumably, their support "pact" to avoid interfering in the pregnancy is setting us up for some hilarious rivalry where they catch each other buying things "for the baby" and generally meddling....

And there's something else TA gave me. My DS1 has just left home for uni and for a moment it occurred to me that one day one of my children might tell me they're expecting a baby, and there is such a thing as grandparental anxiety. Jenny's reaction gave me that new perspective on life's journey.

Report
PoulePouletteEternellement · 18/10/2020 01:15

Definitely! (I'd suggest catching up via the previous thread first.)

Unfortunately it's still only running on four days a week, so everything feels a bit disjointed. And I simply cannot settle into Friday evenings without TA to anchor things.

Back to the voicemail that Alice left on Emma's phone, I hope that it gets out. It really was horrible and Alice deserves to face up to what she said.

I cannot abide Shula and I’m glad we’re not hearing her. However I have a feeling her “becoming ever more holy” course must be starting soon so that’s something to look forward to. My DD is taking some theology courses at university and is plagued by the Shula types on them, wringing their hands and out-pleasanting each other.

If I were pregnant and struggling with it for whatever reasons, I don't know I'd appreciate my sister telling me she loved being pregnant.

Ta for the new thread Smile

I listened to the film today and noticed that yes, Emma referred to things Alice said in her message after she’d told Susan it had cut off. She mentioned Alice having a go at her kids, and some other stuff i think. So yes i think she definitely heard it all but decided to spare susan, for whatever reason.
