Double glazing - recommendations please

We are planning to replace our tilt and turn single glazed windows with double glazed uPVC sash and case.
We have so far received quotes from two national companies (Weatherseal and Penicuik) and two local companies (Sidey and Durashield - we're in Glasgow).
Price are in the same ballpark, but I am more concerned about workmanship, quality of the work and aftersale care.

Anyone has recommendations?
Thank you!

I'm in east lothian and in our last 2 houses we got SRJ windows to fit them. They are based in fife. Would highly recommend them. We would use them again if we need windows in our next house.

We've just got a quote from srj. They sound impressive and the products look quality. We didn't challenge the quote or anything tho. Do they do the usual trick of starting high and dropping it if we're not biting? Salesperson had to leave coz of the snow but would like to know before he comes back if they might be ripping us off.

Mother in law got patio doors from penicuik. They didn't fit what they said they would and then she couldn't get building warrant sign off. Took us 6 months of calls and then mailing the customerservices director to get it fixed. So penicuik, i would say use with caution.

mara did you get a quote in the end? Just had srj at the door and wondering if they are any good.

SRJ Windows same as all the others - salesman tried to railroad us into signing an agreement by pretending we would save money if we signed that evening. This was 45mins after he arrived and how could we know we were saving when he hadn't yet given us a price - just a ruse to get us to sign on the dotted line! When I said I would not be signing anything as we like to talk things over he became quite abrupt and refused to leave us a written quote. Why? - obviously because we had rumbled his little game! Be wary of this company- they are not to be trusted.

i changed from tilt and turn double glazed to uPVC sash and regret it. the uPVC sash windows arent windtight(its only really apparent in strong winds) we were adament this is what we were going to use but our joiner said he would fit them personally but it was our choice, we should have listened. the uPVC windows are sealed with these furry beading around the edges which dont really seal properly. we changed the windows because the windows which were already in the house when we bought it were very old and needed changing as sills were rotten etc.

we got ours from www.quickslide.co.uk/ we found out that three of the companies which gave us aa quote for windows were buying them from quick slide then adding a mark up. we bought ours direct and got a joiner to fit them for us and saved quite a bit of money.
