Did anyone conceive on exact day of ovulation and have a girl

Reason Im asking is, there is another thread asking something like "boy sperm fast, girl sperm live longer, did theory work?" or something to that effect.
Most (bar 1 who was slightly vague) people came back saying that if they conceived on day of ovulation (egg white discharge day SITMI )they had boys.
Im a bit peed off KNOWING this as I conceived both times I ovulated and first was a boy and this one I don't know.
Now I feel like I know it's a boy and the surprise eliment is gone.
I know Im being daft but the not knowing is very exciting to me.
Im getting another scan in a few weeks to check the placenta's whereabouts and now im tempted to ask (I will be 28 weeks).

Don't worry, it could be either. That theory is exactly that, a 'theory', certainly not always true. i'm pretty sure I conceieved on day one of ovulation and ended up with twin girls.

I am pretty certain I did with dd2 but then again the deed was done 2 days later as well ...she arrived early so exact calculations could not tell !!!!

I'm quite sure with at least one of mine it was ovulation day - and I have three girls! All you know at the moment is that you're having a baby

Don't find out if you like the surprise.

not sure if it was exact ovulation day but I have a 27 day cycle (since I was 15, never had a day out) and conceived each child on the 13 day of cycle (we really did only have sex one day a month) I have 3 girls and 1 boy.

I don't see how the theory works if I got a boy in the mix

2 DDs here too...never fear, you can keep guessing! :-)

It's not like hubby will, uhm, contribute exactly 50/50 every time, so maybe the boys are faster but could be they are outnumbered by the girls. Can also be the vaginal emvironment is a bit more acidic than boy sperm like (they are on the fragile side of things), or there is not that much cervical mucous and the sperm needs to labour a bit before getting there...and when the going gets tough, the tough (girls) get going...plenty of unknowns so you have a 50-50 chance for a baby girl!

Yes - this pregnancy was conceived the day I ovulated and three scans have confirmed she is a girl. DH was away for over a week and came back the day I ovulated so I am 100% certain.

I think the theory behind all that can tip you into the statistically "more likely" to have one sex or the other camp but it is by no means any guarantee. Stats do not take account of personal circumstances.

I conceived dd very closely to my ovulation date, I am now 22 weeks pg with dd2 and was no where near ovulating!

That's all encouraging. I don't think I will find out now.
Im not one of those girls desperate to have a girl, especially given how I worship the ground my DS walks on!
BUT we are starting to think our DS would cope better with a sister. He seems to play better with girls and is gentle and shares with them but fights with boys over toys etc. Must be the competetive side of them.
He was so lovely with my friends little 17 month old girl. He kept cuddling her and giving her things - even a piece of his cake ! If that was a boy there would have been no chance. I have a habbit (which needs to stop) of calling him mummy's boy or baby boy, he hold his hands up and say's 'where's mummy's boy'? He tells people he is having a sister which is mad because we always say a baby brother or sister. Think thats because out of 8 friends there has been 7 girls born in the last 3 months, 3 in the last week - those girl sperm obviously do alright then!

Whensmydayoff, you sound quite like me.
I want a surprise with DC2 (am 37 wks pg tomorrow) but nevertheless asked the mw if she could deduce whether my baby was a boy or girl from the heartbeat.
She said the heartbeat like a 'train' indicated a boy but added this was not a proven fact.
Having talked to other people - and from comments on here - I am now convinced I KNOW I'm having a boy. Although that said, various websites and other people have blown this heartbeat theory out of the water. Like you, I will be delighted with either sex but also think DS would cope better with a girl. But who knows?
I wouldn't find out for definite if I were you. Like people have said, there are probably no guarantees with your theory. Why not look on other websites to find out what the 'experts' say about it?

gateau. I have heard that theory too so I make a point of not taking much notice of the doppler!!
It's weird isn't it, some folk can't believe you don't want to know but like you, I'd absolutely hate it.
It reminds me of when I was 14 and went looking for my xmas pressie's and found them. Worst xmas ever!!
I did look at other websites and the theory was totally backed up so that didn't help at all.
I think as someone has said, it certainly means there is more chance of it being a boy but not conclusive.
Im questioning myself too, shit, do I actually want a girl? Is it because so many friends have had girls yet?
I think mainly everyone saying to me "you'll want a girl this time" or "will you be disappointed if it's a boy again"> It really hurts when you have a lovely boy - will nobody be excited for me if I have a mere boy like the last one !
HORMONES, im going mad. I definitely think more and dream more when Im PG!

Hope you dont mind us writing on this old thread but we saw the post

As we are pregnant with twins and we conceived on ovulation day and are hoping for twin girls but was kinnda losing hope as could not find anyone else who conceived on ovulation day and conceived twin girls. So just wanted to clarify if Sandyballs conceived on ovulation day and got pregnant with twin girls? just gives us some hope :)

I read through all that without realising it's from 2009! Blimey.

I used ovulation stitcks, had sex the day it went positive and the next day to be sure. Dates exactly match getting pregnant then. Everyone said I'd have a boy for that reason, and I'd kinda convinced myself boy, but to be honest wanted a girl! When the sonographer said it's a girl I was really surprised and took a while to readjust to be honest!.

nowtheretwo · 31/10/2014 15:02

silverfishlondon, yes that's encouraging to hear!! I guess we were hoping to hear of someone who had twin girls from conceiving on ovulation day as that's what we were hoping as we are expecting twins but don't know the gender yet.

WorkingBling · 01/11/2014 07:56

Everyone conceives on ovulation day! The egg only stays alive for a very short time. The boy/girl sperm thing is about when you had sex. Bit if you had sex two days before AND on ovulation day there is no reason that the egg couldn't be fertilised using sperm from two days before. So, unless you had zero sex before ovulation, it would be pretty hard to tell either way.

nowtheretwo yep. I was using OPKs so know exactly when I ovulated. We have non-identical twin girls.

nowtheretwo · 01/11/2014 23:55

andadietcoke so you DTD on ovulation day and that was the only time you DTD from the point of your last period until the day you ovulated and you got twin girls? As thats what we did but we dont know the gender of our twins yet. Hoping for twin girls so thats why we were wondering.
andadietcoke are you also sandyballs?
