BFP through IVF. Thread to calm the nerves!

Hi!
I very recently got my positive result after a FET. (This is my second child. First one conceived through a fresh cycle). Just wondered anyone in a similar position wanted to join, and help keep us calm until scan day!

I am only 4+2 weeks. Still so, so early. Can’t wait for my 7 week scan!

Congratulations, not long to go til the scan now (although it probably feels like ages!). 💖

I just wanted to say a massive congratulations! Me and DP are currently on waiting list for IVF (first child) and it's so uplifting hearing of success stories.
I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy and new baby Flowers

Hi @BeHereNowx32, congrats on your BFP! Flowers

I'd love to join you and definitely need calming too – currently 5+5 with DC1 from a FET and really anxious that something will go wrong. Got my early scan booked in a week today and hoping beyond hope that everything's OK and it gives me a bit of reassurance.

How are you doing symptoms-wise?

x

Best of luck for your cycle @ThoroughlyForumed!

Congratulations!

It’s incredibly nerve wracking. My top tips would be to keep yourself distracted as much as possible, and make sure you’re doing something every day to relax as far as possible, eg hypnosis, meditation etc. The calmer and more relaxed the better. Fingers crossed all goes well for you!

Hi @BeHereNowx32
I remember you from the other thread!

Hi @kell2126 Smile

I’d love to join you on here too. I’m 5 weeks today. 2ww until 7w scan!

I don’t really feel very different yet (hence doing more HPTs to check I’m still pregnant!) Occasionally I’ve felt slightly nauseous, but I can feel like that anyway when I first get up. I’ve been more tired, but I’m convinced that’s the progesterone.
I’m thirsty too, but I don’t normally drink very much so have been very consciously trying to get 2L+ in every day!
I think I’d feel less anxious if I “felt” pregnant. Although I know I should be careful what I wish for - I don’t really want to feel awful!
I’m also very worried it all goes wrong. This is my first cycle so a bit of a newbie and don’t really know what to expect.
Fingers crossed for all of us. I think distraction is the way forward!

I'm coming over from the infertility boards too - I'm currently 8 weeks with twins from my 5th IVF cycle and 4th transfer.

Feeling very anxious as have had 5 miscarriages previously and 2 ruptured ectopics

Feel like I'm wishing my life away until 12 weeks when hopefully we'll be out of the "danger zone"

I had scans at 6 weeks and 7+4 - everything fine except one twin has a much smaller sac than the other but the baby itself measures fine with strong heartbeat. Have booked a private scan at 10 weeks to check on things x

@Scirocco thank you! The symptom spotting doesn’t end after the positive result! Hopefully next 2 weeks go ok.

@ThoroughlyForumed thank you. All the best with your ivf journey. It can be tough. But yeah, it can work too 💓

@kell2126 congrats to you too!
Oh I remember the nerves so much with my first pregnancy. It’s hard to relax. But it does help to have that early scan (then I booked loads of private scans!).
Had a few symptoms... bad taste in my mouth, feeling hungover in the morning, and more tired (I wake up early though!). How about you? My symptoms really kicked in after 7 weeks with my first pregnancy.

@LemonRabbit hi! Smile it’s a very anxious time before the scan. My symptoms didn’t kick in with my first pregnancy, until after 7 weeks. I was worrying because I didn’t feel anything... then bam! Felt everything! Hope you can relax over the next 2 weeks.

@Tolleshunt thank you for the advice. Think I will do my mindful app again. I stopped over the last few days, but I’m sure it will help.

@ivfdreaming hello! You have definitely had a tough journey. I booked a private scan at 10 weeks last time, and it was the best decision. It reassured me, and baby actually looked like a little baby.
Wishing you all the best. I hope everything continues to go smoothly, and the next scan can reassure you xx

Can I join please? Congrats to everyone on their BFPs.

Currently 10+3 after an FET in May. Really struggling with worrying about everything - over analysing every symptom, lack of symptom, twinge and general gut feeling. We've got a private scan booked for Fri and I'm so scared its going to be bad news Sad NHS scan not until 4th August which feels so far away, and also worried that even if all ok the results of the combined screening are going to be bad. I so just want to enjoy being pregnant.

@BeHereNowx32 I've been working throughout (and commuting to London on the train) so also meeting up with people - we in fact ate at ny parents and stayed with ny brother last weekend. Trying to stay 1m apart but not always possible - particularly at work! Seeing people is helping keep me (relatively) sane.

@MorgenMuffel hi. And congrats to you too.
Oh, I completely understand the anxiety!! I had a private scan at 9.5 weeks. It was the best things for me to do. It really did reassure me, and was so nice to see an actual baby in there. I hope you can enjoy the scan.
How have you been feeling? Do you have symptoms? Everyone is so different. My friend was pregnant same time as me. She had no symptoms, and I had some sickness from 7weeks.
I’m trying to remind myself that now, because I’m not feeling much. Just tired and bloated.hope you’re ok! Chat when you need to x

@BeHereNowx32 I know! I feel like I’m still symptom spotting too. Nothing new to report!
@MorgenMuffel
Try not to worry. Easier said than done and I wish I could follow my own advice! I don’t think having multiple scans poses a danger or they wouldn’t do it. Good luck! Hopefully will all go smoothly and will be exciting seeing developments since your last scan.

After the euphoria of the BFP, I’ve spent the last week being very anxious - I was doing too much googling about what could go wrong, but seeing friends this weekend has been great and taken my mind off everything. I’m going to try really hard not to think about it (apart from remembering medication/dietary stuff) as I think that is partially what contributes to my fears.

@LemonRabbit you are right. Relaxing and eating well is all we can do to help things anyway. I forgot to drink water today 🙄 so, that can be my new focus tomorrow! Lol xx

@morgenmuffel

Hi 👋 good to see you over here!
Other than a massive stomach which makes me look 4 months pregnant already my symptoms are still few and far between.

There are a few new baby scan places opened up near me - about 4 within a 5 mile radius and all have great opening discounts - scans plus videos and photos for £44 so I'm definitely going to book some for reassurance up until the 12 week scan. I think having twins means I'll get an NHS scan every month anyway compared to I think just 3 (?) if it was a standard pregnancy - I had this with my DD and also her heart was checked every week by a midwife as I was high risk for that pregnancy and the constant contact made me feel much better. Not sure how Covid will affect things this time round.

Does your scan letter say If your partner is allowed to go with you? Xx

@ivfdreaming hello! hope you're doing well :) I do keep checking in on the other thread but so hard hearing about the others struggles, and not helping my worries. I am sure you will get more scans with twins, which will hopefully be really reassuring.

My DH can come to my private scan on Friday, but not my 12 week NHS one at the moment. My midwife did say she was reasonably confident that rules will have changed by the time I get to 20weeks.

@BeHereNowx32 @LemonRabbit I've had quite a lot of nausea, but no sickness, although even that has settled down now - which of course is making me thing something is going wrong. Exhaustion and insomnia, sore boobs plus lots of bloating and burping! Although think those might all be down to the cyclogest.

I just wish I had xray vision and could see what is going on in there!!

Had quite a quiet weekend as been feeling very down about it all - trying to shake myself out of my funk and be a bit more positive. Any tips?

Hello all can I join in. Got my BFP officially yesterday. Still so early and feel hyper- alert of all that could go wrong. Just hoping to make it. Actually feel quite nervous joining this thread...

This was my first FET following my daughter who is 18 months. She was the result of my second round of IVF. We have no more frozen and I'm 43 so if this doesn't work out, our options are tricky (tho not impossible as @fool11 has shown - that makes me feel very happy).

Thanks all and good luck with the symptom spotting and scans!!

Xxx

@Janefx40 so happy you could join the thread, but completely understand the nervousness too. I wasn’t sure about starting it. But needed to talk about things!!

I feel like my stomach is quite crampy and aching today. Not period pain, but my actual stomach.
@MorgenMuffel definitely normal to have waves of symptoms. Especially when the placenta starts to take over x

What do you find yourself feeling anxious about?

I started to get period pain and back pain last night. Not really bad, so I know it can be normal. Just overthinking things 🙈
Hope you’re ok today

@basaltx hello! I remember from last time that these early weeks of pregnancy were even more anxious than IVF - and that is saying something. I honestly think that if someone had assessed me I'd have been considered to be properly mentally unwell!!!

Last time @BeHereNowx32 I had strong period cramps just before 6 weeks. I went to my GP and just collapsed in sobs. I remember him saying to me "I can send you for an early scan but it's so early that it may not show anything and that could make you feel more anxious."

My scan was at 6 weeks and 1 day and there was a heartbeat but if there hadn't been there could still have been time for it to develop. Everything was fine so, as you say, period cramps aren't necessarily a bad sign.

I'm currently feeling absolutely nothing! I stupidly took a FRER today to see if the line was darker than yesterday. Not sure it is so that has caused me to stress. Stupid of me!!!
