Hi everyone. ds on Sunday too, no present yet, must get out tomorrow! Re BFing, I stopped a couple of weeks ago, but what are your thoughts on bottles? I know all the advice is not to use bottles after 12 mths, but surely if the 'right' thing to do is BF until 2, then the babes still have a suck reflex they need to satisfy? ds was howling & really upset yesterday and I instinctively went to feed him - he had no idea what I was doing, how quickly they forget!

Took uniboy to a birthday party today, not his, but a boy 1 day older. Was madness, Very noisey with 50+ kids plus parents in a church hall. It was joint party for that family's 1 yr old and 4 yr old.
uni boy has eaten far more cake than he ought, so I need to shovel in mucho mucho veg and fruit over next few days to make up for it! I'm going to make apple and carrot cake to take to mums and tots for uni boys birthday, that way I don;t feel so bad about letting himn eat lots of it. he likes cake.
Think we may have solved the meltdowns, he seems to need near constant food all afternoon at teh mo.
I suspect the suck for comfort thing can be transfered to a dummy or thumb. but if a kid doesn't learn to use a cup by 2 its harder for them to switch away from the bottle as it's become such an established habit. I know someone whos having problems getting her 2 yr old to give up comfort breast feeds. I'm trying hard to keep boys breast feeds on MY timetable not his request the majority of teh time now. he can have a cup whenever he asks tho.
Hopefully the others will come and join us sometime Ski, or its gonna be a very short thread!

bumpity bump.
Boy blotto after a busy morning at childrens centre. I'm trying to get "something" organsied for breast feeding awareness week in may, seem to have been roped into it by NCT bods.
What might you call a group of mums who aim to surport other mums in breastfeeding including mixed formula and breast feeders. local group used to be caled milk mates, but wantto to move away from that name as slightly cringeworthy.

Skibump Happy Birthday to ds for yesterday.

I'm going to try and post some birthday pics to my profile in a mo! will let you know if it works!

Had a lovely day yesterday, nice flow of people all day, never too hectic or crowded
dd2 seems to like her sandless sandpit, she's happy with her bucket to go with it, has been merrily carting it around and putting things in it

Happy Birthday babies!!!

Still no internet at home and DP still sking so not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong or not. Anyway I'm too knackered being a single mum to do anything but flop in front of thr telly at 9pm.

I've had a really shit week. My sister who was meant to be staying with me had her first scan at 14 weeks and the baby is really poorly. My mum had gone with her on Monday as a treat as she has never seen a scan and then it all went horribly wrong. The baby is full of fluid and will die very soon. Her partner flew back (he was sking with DP) and they have been back to hospital today to find out more with a specialist MW and then a consultant this afternoon. I think she is going to terminate the pregnancy with a tablet and then miscarry this weekend. They also move house next Friday. It's all awful.

Anyway then my Nan died last night. She went peacefully in her sleep at the nursing home having been dicharged from hospital on Monday. The good things are that most of the family had been to visit her last week when she was poorly and best of all my mum had better in time to see her and had sat with her last night whilst she had her tea (cake and custard). I am now so far behind on work that I don't know where to start and am running on adrenaline I think as feel like I am in a bubble....hope it doesn't pop in London at work next week!

I'll try to sort out my internet and return to MN soon. Bye for now.

Hi all, LL hope your doing ok today hon ((((Hugs)))))
Astro, why the addition to the name?
Lovely weather today wasn't it? dug some of the weeds out of our border whilst dd2 had morning nap and dd1 at pre school then ventured to the park, which is closing next week for 6 weeks for a re-vamp, so at least it'll be fresh for summer, hurrah, they have a nice paddling pool for hot days too, so hope they keep it!

LL you've got so much to deal with at the moment and for your sister, must be horrid.

We are really bad parents, we spent ds's birthday skiing. He stayed with gparents in the village being spoiled rotten Actually he was asleep most of the time we were out We got a French fruit tart for his birthday cake, which he LOVED. He had a lovely time picking out the blackcurrants (prefers them to chocolate )

We're on to teeth 7&8 so more sleepless nights. He's been making up for it during the day though, 'helping' with the washing etc - cute

Off on hols on Sunday, can't wait...

DS's birthday today! Must get going so just popping in to say Hi. Lots of nice prezzies that have come by mail over the last few days that we opened this am - my favourites are the 'Bonds' clothes - a wonderful Aussie brand. Hurrah!

Happy birthday to your LO Ski!

LL, how are you getting on?

Friz, I'm a bit sick of people 'calling' me Apostrophe, rather than Astrophe...lame I know! But thought would swap for a while to see if people get the hang of it and switch back, or may switch all together. I'll let you know if I do so you'll recognise me!

I think that went prety well for a birthday, uniboy was in a nice happy sort of mood all day except for a couple of nappy changes and one having to wait for food melt down. he even had a nice big nap so DH and I got to listen to "the now show" etc in peace and enjoy each others company for a bit.

didn;t do much, he got to play with his new toys - a push along train and truck. spent some time in the garden coz teh grass was not under water, he had fun crawling on teh grass and teh gravel and paving, discovered he can slide down the lawn, found it hard to balance sitting on the steeper bits and "helped" me gardening by prodding the veg bed with a small stick while I was hoeing it.

Ski- have fun in the snow , am slightly jelous, will have to try and find another family to go with next year.

I'm back on line!

Happy Birthday to the boys.

Good news first....Kiah has her second tooth...hot on the heels of babyfrizbe!!

DP has returned from France a complete ski addict but I have told him that he is never going away again!! He was a bit too horny for my liking (must be the adrenaline) and I had to compromise my bad back!! Then I knocked back some Ibruprofen and did two hours gardening this morning- it was sunny and I couldn't bear not being out there finding out what plants we have etc. Anyway can barely move now.

More miserable news though as we found out today that my cousin (the one we were going to visit in Cambodia) has Lymphoma. She has been poorly for a while but they couldn't diagnose anything specific but she is now in Bangkok and they are pretty certain that she has two lumps. We will know in a couple of days what the outlook is and her sister and brother are ready to fly out. She has a friend with her now and will likely stay in bangkok for treatment as it will be better than the NHS.

On the other crap news stories: my mum's siblings are making her compromise on lots of the funeral plans that we wanted despite the fact that my mum has looked after my nan for 17 years. They only visited her once in a blue moon. I will try not to lose it at the funeral but may lash out!

My sister is having a scan tomorrow and they will try to do an amnio but then she is insisting that she can't wait any longer and wants to have the tablet to terminate the pregnancy (she is 15 weeks now). She feels like maybe the baby has died already as her boobs have stopped hurting but it may be just wishful thinking eh? Anyway she will miscarry this week and then her and her partner move house on Friday. She is coming up to mums and DP is doing the move with a few mates.

Will be letting off steam a bit this week I'm afraid so aplogies in advance...keep posting all your news for me.

Friz, I am actually really looking forward to going to London and doing some work, I've had to get some clothes off a friend as have now lost 1.5 stones so everything too big - yippee.

LL, yay for being back on line and Yay for the weight loss hurrah for you, so nice to get new clothes too

On the other hand for your cousin, sending her lots of good healing vibes.
{{{{Hugs}}}}} to your sister too, can't imagine how she must be feeling. Ensure she takes it easy though, as moving house is a killer at the best of times, and she'll still have all the post pregnancy bleeding to deal with

{{{{{{Hugs}}}}}} to you for the funeral, when is it taking place? Why do families who never visit/help always try to stick their beaks in eh? never figured that one out?

Hi Astro n Uni (ski's away right?)

Wishing nursery was open at 4am here, cause dd1 wet bed then and then decided it was morning and she has that really horrible pitch of scream, when she's tired, but awake n not getting her own way.....the one that wakes up everyone in the house and surrounding area, and breaks glass.....so that was us all up, she was most surprised to find herself the 1st person into pre school this am evil

today he decided to sleep for an hour and a half for CM. good says mum. then I took him to play at a friends in the afternoon and he had a great time crawling in their garden, playing with play dough and doing some painting. he was rather blue and green when I took him home.
Dh has conjuctivitus and feels so bad hes going to take a day or 2 off work!
Hope those teeth come through soon, chomp chomp.

We are sleepless too Uni! I think Kiah's teeth are all lined up and ready so they are bothering her just enough to disrupt her sleep and make her a bit cranky.

I have a vague plan to nobble the night time feeding but at the moment it seems easier to just go with it....so all my sympathies to the sleep deprived thread members.

Funeral is Monday....my sister is in hospital today as she should miscarry (they got a full syringe of fluid at the amnio on Monday for tests)....my cousin has started chemo today in bangkok but the doctors say her prognosis is good. She will have to decide whether to stay out there or come home to continue treatment.

It was really good to go to London and do a full days work yesterday. Also met a friend for lunch and sat at a sunny pavement cafe - lovely.

Sounds like relativly good news for cousin, fingers x'd it gets zapped quickly and she's as good as new within the year. Keep us updated.
Hope monday goes ok, is it a home wake or a pub bash? Is your family like mine, there's nearly always someone who throws a punch when they've had a few, regardless of the event At my Uncles funeral, it was one cousin, who threatened another due to running out of booze/being told to go home cause he was too drunk They're not a posh lot......

Astro where are you????

Girls are we going to sort a meet out in say April/May sometime?

Uni, glad boy had a good day hope the rest of you don't get the eye thing, it can be quite contagious you know

Teeth, teeth n teeth here, whingy, clingy dd2 just added Nurofen again, fingers x'd she sleeps thru, those top two still not thru!
