My heart goes out to her family and friends and I'm hoping she will be found soon.

I keep thinking of her and her family.
Just read they have deployed thermal imagery to search...sadlyfrom my experience that doesn't mean they suspect she is alive...

WIthout meaning to sound like a simpleton doesn’t thermal imaging mean they’re looking for body heat which she’d only give off if she were alive?

Really Tessie I assumed the opposite that she must have a good chance of being alive, heat.

Just read on the BBC website that they have used a recording of her mother's voice, played out on speakers, in the hopes it will find her. Her poor family.

I can't stop thinking about her, I keep checking the news with an increasing sense of dread.

I've been to a similar resort to that. They said it's in a rural location with a small village nearby. Most of the villagers are staff at the resort. They had only been there one night before she went missing - so if she was abducted how would anyone have had time to identify her as a victim? It doesn't make sense.

Her poor family

Sadly not everyone Sad a decomposing body will also give off body heat...plus maggot activity produce heat...

I also keep checking the news. She's just disappeared into thin air.

It's strange as the family have said it would be very unlikely for her to just wander off alone. Plus it was at night time. And abduction also seems unlikely to me.

Awful.

This has made my stomach churn since first reading about it, I just can't imagine.
The family know their girl best, they really don't have any reason to believe she's have gone off by herself. Poor girl. They'll all in my thoughts.

Just seen the poor family on the news... still searching. The thought of her poor mother having to record her voice calling for her to be played out across the jungle makes my blood run cold.

They sound like they're fairly confident she hasn't gone far. I suspect that's because of the remoteness of the place, unless she got in a car - which is unlikely - or was abducted, which they seem to also think is unlikely.

Could she have been so excited to be in the jungle, have heard some interesting sounds, and wandered off perhaps? Her family must be frantic.

I keep thinking about Nora too. I can't help but feel it's not getting much press coverage.

I feel the same..why isn't this making headline news? This poor little girl..I can't stop thinking about her 😔 I hope to God she is ok!!
It does seem like the emergency services there are trying.
Surely a thermal image camera on the helicopter would of been able to see her if she was in the area?

It has been all over the BBC news site for days. It's getting more press coverage than most people who go missing.

Report
PolkaDotted · 09/08/2019 17:45

I hope that she's ok too, and I've been following it closely since I first saw it on the BBC news homepage but it isn't true that it's receiving little coverage.

It is getting a lot of publicity in Ireland as Norah has an Irish passport and it's a small country. Her Mum is from Belfast and her Dad is French.
There were siblings in the room with her to my knowledge but I don't know what age they are.
I do so wish her to be found soon.

It is so, so awful. A parent's worst nightmare. Poor family and Nora. Just hoping she is found safely.

Just checked the bbc news homepage and it's not on there...neither was it yesterday.

I'm on mat leave and i spend a lot of time watching day time news and there is very little coverage of it.

Report
PolkaDotted · 09/08/2019 21:58

It was on there yesterday. Not in the part with the pics at the top but below that on the homepage there was a part about the appeal and a link to it. It's now on the front page of World news about them playing Nora's Mother's voice recordings. I don't think it's feasible to expect it to be constantly on the Homepage when there are few updates and there have been many other major news stories over the past week or so.

There is speculation she is actively hiding from the people searching for her which is why she hasn't been found yet.

I keep checking the news for her too. The whole thing seems so strange & to have happened so soon after arrival hopefully means that it's nothing sinister & she'll turn up soon.

My heart sank when I first heard she'd disappeared in this place. I know the area quite well and even experienced locals do get lost here and take days (at the earliest) to be found if they're lucky. I now hope she's being abducted and can be found alive and well as soon as possible.
