Fledglings are raucous in August - the Flylady thread

Thanks to paxillin for our August thread title Smile.

Hello all and welcome to the August Flylady thread. We are a friendly bunch who try to roughly follow the Flylady system. How strictly you follow it is of course up to you! Every day the thread leader posts information about which zone of the house we are in and the missions for the week.

Newbies are always welcome. All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There is enough information on this thread to start getting on with things but you can also trawl through the (confusing at times) website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

I'm on holiday this week with intermittent internet connection so will not be on much but will keep an eye on the thread and hopefully everyone else will feel free to jump in!

With it being summer holidays it may be pretty quiet on here but missions etc will be here for those who want them.

Thanks for new thread
Quiet on the threads recently hope everyone is ok. If it's anything like my house I'm mainly playing referee most of the time whilst trying to juggle everything else

Hey Cag I'm good! Enjoying spending some quality time with the dc now the holidays have started. Tomorrow is dd's birthday so I am trying to get a relatively early night as I know she will be up early. She had a sleepover on Saturday... there was very little sleeping Hmm so tomorrow will be a relaxed day with family.

I am trying to kid myself I am going to get ontop of the house over the next 5 weeks but I guess even if I make some progress it will be better than nothing. It will be lovely to catch up with you all while I pretend Grin

Happy birthday MiniMercury Cake

I know just the feeling about kidding yourself. I live in a state of eternal optimism and it doesn't always seem to get us anywhere. I know things ARE getting better really, as so much crap is leaving the house and slowly we are getting more on top of the everyday stuff. But aaaargh.

In ten days I will be in my third trimester. Soooo not ready for a baby!!!

DH is off so need to get some stuff done but still feeling pants, horrible cough is lingering. Not sure how much I will manage.

Place marking!

Cannot believe cag nearly in third tri!

Also cannot believe my baby will be one in less than 10 weeks. Argh!

I can't believe it either, first few months felt endless thanks to nausea but now it's zipping by at a terrifying rate! And wow that your baby is nearly a year too!

We've managed quite a lot today considering we are all knackered/ill. One of those "sorted loads but doesn't actually look any different" sort of days.

Found it quite emotional today, granted hormones aren't helping Hmm but letting go of things you have hoarded is really bloody hard TBH. Most of it was to do with the Caglets and it brought up feelings about how HE is going etc (things like ditching resources they aren't capable of using) and basically I don't think I'm coping with their autism diagnoses (plus possible learning disability for DD) as well as I thought.

I am back to work today after 8 days off Hmm
Nice 5-11 shift to welcome me back ugh
Haven't done much today still on referee duty

Hello all, apologies as am not the best thread leader for this first week of the month but the internet coverage is just terrible here! Followed Purple's example and did an online food shop for when we get back. It took hours and that was with checking the phone every few mins while we were out until we got a 4G signal. Cottage wifi more miss than hit!

So, Cag Flowers, perhaps it is good you going through their stuff to let you start to process things before Cagletini comes along. mermaids, hope being back at work not too awful. Afresh, wow, nearly 1 Bear. And happy birthday to mini Mercury Cake. Big wing flaps to all Smile.

Here is the daily summary for Wednesday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day).

Baby-step no 2 - get dressed as soon as you get up I don't always get dressed straight away but I do get dressed fairly soon after waking as it makes a massive difference to how productive I am and how organised I feel.

We are in Zone 1 this week: the entrance, front porch and dining room

Spend 15 mins decluttering in Zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 1 is here

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

August's habit is laundry

Happy flying everyone.

I think you're right stressy the more I can get sorted before baby the better, not just in terms of practical stuff

Off to hospital in a mo for the appt I moved from monday. Still can't be bothered TBH

Sorry it was me who offered to run the august thread. I accidentally locked myself out of mn when I deleted all the cookies, cache and history. I have only just located my password list. BlushHmm

I'm not having a great morning. I woke up with a stinking headache and runny nose so very little has gone on in the purple household this morning. I've sent dh to lidl for the weekly shop and hoping he comes back with treats. We were supposed to be doing the garden but it's bucketing down so I'm angry crocheting instead. I'm not too far off finishing a baby blanket which needs to be done for Saturday so maybe the big grump is good.

Cagliostro · 02/08/2017 13:11

Oops einstein :o I have a few passwords that I use for most things but I also use two email addresses so it takes a lot of trial and error. I was thinking recently that I might try and edit all my accounts for things so I have the same for, say, all social media, a different one for all catch up tv etc. But I also need to clear out my emails and all that crap. I am very digitally cluttered.

Sorry you're feeling crap purple :(

Hospital was fine but have to see MW fortnightly to keep an eye on blood pressure (it is fine at the mo).

DH has cleared the bookcase so we've moved the fruit bowls onto it and it looks lovely. But in truth the crap has just moved elsewhere! Need to sort through it but knackered. DD is disappointed as I don't think I'll manage gym/acro today, fine if just tired but this wheezy cough is really getting to me. Will try to catch up on stuff like DD's writing challenge instead.

Cagliostro · 02/08/2017 13:14

And laundry. Not got to the one load a day stage yet as going to mum's caused a bit of a backlog

Report
YesEinsteinsMumDid · 02/08/2017 14:08

The advice is that having the same passwords for more than 1 thing is more risky and less secure. And having been here for the Jeffery thing when a lot of mnners where caught out and other accounts endangered I have no intention of taking that risk. All i have to do is figure a sensible place for the list to be stored rather than a safe place HmmGrin

ta da
write massive to do list
find spare staples for stapler

That's the risk isn't it. Modern life is so complicated! I figure stuff like my all4/iplayer type stuff doesn't matter so much but maybe that's not true either!

Think the washing is finished so must transfer to dryer and probably put on another load. DD has gone to play at a neighbour's so I might just nap with a DVD on for DS

Cagliostro · 02/08/2017 15:40

I now have a load of usernames and passwords to store for the Caglets too as I've got loads of online learning subscriptions (stuff like literacy planet and profigy maths where this amazing home ed mum sorts out super cheap school sub prices for us). The usernames are usually their intials and random strings of numbers so no hope of memorising them all!

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 02/08/2017 15:47

Hence why i ended up with lists...
My memory is shocking!
