Best kitchen floor cleaner

Hi, For ages now I use Bleach in the kitchen to clean the floor. It is cheap and does a good job at removing stains.

I have just cleaned the floor and felt very unwell after. I probably use too much, as the fumes were overwhelming.

Can I ask, what does work in the kitchen. A lot of the over commercialised products are just well advertised and dont really work.

The kitchen are stone flags which are a nightmare for retaining stains.

I now have a steam mop which I LOVE, but back in the days of mops and buckets, I used a capful of flash, with a squirt of bleach...

squirt of bleach, think I must be doing something wrong, I use at least a quater of a bucket lol.

I may invest in a steam mop. Or will it be another 'thing' that gets put to the back of the cupboard.

Biological washing powder works a treat

For stone flags look at Lithofin floor cleaner. Expensive but highly concentrated so lasts a long time.

A 1/4 of a bucket of bleach Shock. Seriously? No wonder you're feeling unwell!

Biological washing powder and very hot water works a treat.

I can seriously recommend an e-cloth mop using just water, damp the cloth and go, works great on our pale cream tiles, does the job in no time, though we do not let dirt build up on the floor so its only surface stains. It has made an hour long job take 15 mins! Got ours from Lakeland.

My cleaner only uses method now

it smells so nice, she says it works the best (and has tried lots) and it doesnt contain loads of nasty stuff either.

Cant believe you use that much bleach.... i small squirt into a bucket of hot water is plenty

I use Pledge Tile Stone & Granite - works well and smells nice too.

I can't see the point of the bleach. It is not a detergent, so not as good as getting dirt up as something like Flash.

It will kill bacteria and bleach out some stains like tea, but you could do that after mopping the dirt off.

I use method squirt n mop on the wooden floors, (smells like almonds) when they just need a swish over. And the same for tiles, method (green bottle)

when they are dirty I use a splosh of flash and a little squirt of bleach.

I have also bought an e mop and it is great for a quick once over.

Daily quick spritz with a vinegar/water solution and mop but weekly I'll get a bucket of bio washing powder with warm water and mop. Works well on our black tiles Smile
