My dh needs A LOT of dental work and we are at a loss as to how we will afford it. Has anyone used the Denplan schemes?

Yes i'm on denplan but I think you'll find you have to be up to date with all treatment before they will take you on the scheme.

Good luck!

No, we've just started on Denplan and are yet to have our treatment - the dentist worked out what me and dh needed, and then recommended what level of the plan we needed (I need considerably less, so feel quite smug Grin)

Yes we are on Denplan. Our dentist turned private a few years ago and we wanted to stay with them. DS 20 and 19 still covered by NHS (same dentist) at the moment. as the OPs said - you have an assessment by your dentist then they tell you what level of cover you need to pay for. We pay about £15 a month each (I think) which covers us for two check ups, two hygeinest appointments and any fillings etc per year (but not cosmetic dentistry and not the av sedation that I have if having a filling). Like KAT said I suspect if your DH needs a lot of work then you may have to do that first.

We have for many years but the premium is based on the assessment of condition now and it goes up if you have, for example, a root canal and on periodic reassessment. We even kept it when we moved abroad for its emergency cover. Apparently they do loans to help you fund excluded treatments (ie. a brace) and it doesn't cover if you need a referrals such as surgical procedures at a hospital for example .
