The margin by which Leave won is too small to base such a huge decision on. This needs to be debated further especially now it's clear many people based their decision on misrepresentations made by Brexit campaigners on immigration and spending on NHS or made a protest vote.

Johnson is continuing with the myths claiming Britain will still be in Europe. Of course we will be geographically but that's all!

The referendum was advisory and not legally binding. If you want to stay in the EU please email your MP today.

And say what exactly?? The country has decided and sadly, less than 36% of all eligible voters agree with us. I share your frustration but, only 16.1m of us out of 45m eligible voters, chose to remain. It sucks, I know but, we've got to let it go

Don't write to your MP if you don't want to. That's your right. This thread is to urge people who want to stay in EU to contact their MP. Signing a petition isn't enough.

I agree, OP.

That petition isn't the right way (although I signed it). Letters from disgruntled Leave voters who feel duped are more powerful.

And for those advising to 'let it go'. No. I won't. I am going to support anything that might see this 'decision' overturned. I don't care how small or ultimately ineffective a gesture it might be. I care too much to 'let it go' (that's not saying others don't).

Unless your MP is in London, Scotland, N.I., or a handful of constituencies in England, they are hardly going to commit political suicide by trying to argue to remain. They will know how their constituency voted, they will not go against democracy and their local majority if they have a hope in hell of not losing their seat to UKIP.

Funny. For years here I have been lambasted for having the luxury of having enough time and energy to be politically active

Now look! So many people suddenly wondering if the MO, that few of them would have voted for, or recognised in the street (the low voting rates evidence that), are suddenly calling for them to do something!

Maybe had we all been far more politically engaged in the past we would never had come to the point were a politician promised a referendum in order to get re-relected!

So please, do write to your MP on this and many other matters. Remain involved in the political process, now you know how important it is (sorry, no pun intended).

For goodness sake. We lost. They won. It's a Done Deal. It's not Best of Three or Keep Going till It's the 'Right' Result.

It's been decided. Now we just have to make the best we can for all of us.

That's where everyone's energy should be directed.

That's not how it works. Regardless of his personal opinions he has to represent his electorate's views.

So if you don't tell him when you disagree he can't do that.

Oh, and vote against him next time!

But part of that might be at least investigating whether the result is sure enough, based on informed votes, whatever. I don't view it as dirty tactics, but I agree it's desperate. But I am pretty desperate.
