Would they stand a chance? Interesting. DC got in with 11m votes, Tim Farron could have 16m on his side.

The lib dems are finished as a party.

Just so you know....

They're pledging to reverse it

I'm putting my papers in to get selected when I move

The Lib Dems are prone to their own lies and liars, surely?

Hurrah for the Lib Dems. A ray of hope!
I am off to join the party. Good luck to them 😊

Seriously considering joining up. I am glad one party will be campaigning unequivocally on a pro-EU platform.

The Lib Dems always did focus on Europe, education and environment.

Unfortunately they handled the Rennard affair terribly badly and a number of women quit.

Apparently thousands of people have joined the lib Dems since Thursday. I had never considered it until today

I joined today - they may be small but they do seem to have some integrity. I now think that Clegg kept the Tories slightly in check on things like academies. The main parties have no credibility so hopefully fringe parties will offer some hope. They can't be worse.

they've found a way to win back voters.

Exactly. Funny how people quickly forget.

I think there may well be GE in the autumn. Brexiters need to draw up a strategy which is mandated by Parliament. A majority of MPs support Remain & without a mandate there would need to be another GE.

AnnaForbes · 25/06/2016 23:41

Will they remove the word 'democrat' from their name?

Littlemisslovesspiders · 25/06/2016 23:41

As we will have left by 2020 bit pointless really.

Seems a bit opportunistic to get more members.

There may be an election as early as this autumn, Ghost

MPs represent their constituents. Most of which voted to leave.

Many have said they respect the wishes of the majority.

A GE in the autumn is wishful thinking - it won't happen. As for the LibDems, it doesn't matter how many people join their party, they have zero power to change anything.

Yes but Brexiters need to decide a common plan to present to parliament. It may be difficult getting that approved by MPs not least of all because the Tories don't have a huge majority. If there is no mandate it would force a general election & it would be quite legitimate to reverse a decision if that is what the electorate voted for.

The tuition fees question

The lib dems tempered what the Tories wanted to do

The average amount you repay went DOWN but the Maximum went up

All while the lib dems were not the MAIN party, they didnt get elected! The Tories did

If we wanted no tuition fees people would have voted Lib Dem and not Tory!

Folk voted Tory - they got tuition fees

And yes I disagree with Tuition fees and the compromise the lib dems had to make
