Has anyone been able to book their Covid booster?

Been trying for about an hour, getting a “you’re currently 6472 in the queue” message, then it cycles between NHS number / DOB / asking if I’m immunocompromised. Once I managed to enter postcode to check covid centres but then crashed again

Just wondering if anyone has been able to do it?

That's probably because the stupid government gave the NHS zero warning of what they were planning. They have promised a service that they don't currently have the resources to deliver.

daisybrown37 · 13/12/2021 11:26

The system is down unfortunately - my H called 119 and they couldn’t book it either.

BettyOBarley · 13/12/2021 11:28

No tried last night and this morning and site is down or I'm in a queue to join the queue!

IpanemaPeaHen · 13/12/2021 11:28

Mine is booked for early Jan. I tried to amend the booking at 6am to bring it forwards but nothing available locally until end of Jan. Think I’ll try a walk in.

TheFlis12345 · 13/12/2021 11:28

DH is late 30’s and booked his last night after I saw people on here saying they could.

AndrewPeacock · 13/12/2021 11:28

Yes, just booked mine for next Monday. (Scotland, over 30s incase that makes a difference)

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 13/12/2021 11:28

Did it Saturday night when we saw the rumours it had changed to allow over 30s to book. Managed to get a slot tomorrow night.

C0nn1e · 13/12/2021 11:41

I phoned the vaccination number at the surgery, given a time and colour for Dh for Friday

RunningKatie · 13/12/2021 11:56

Can't get on to rebook mine. I had to cancel it as I got covid so need to leave it a month. Now can't even get into the queue, it jumps from 5000 to 3000 to 6000, then falls over.

Lindy2 · 13/12/2021 12:04

DH is trying to cancel his for a week's time because he was able to get a walk in one this morning. The system is clearly completely overloaded. He's going to try late tonight so his old slot can be cancelled and used by someone else.

Frazzled2207 · 13/12/2021 12:05

Yes. It was creaking under pressure let night about 9pm however was working much better around 11pm and I managed.

MeltedButter · 13/12/2021 12:05

I just got sent a link to book on from my GP. I booked it in minutes.

Someone on here said that if you go to a walk in your booked appointment will be automatically cancelled. Though it may take a day or two. Afaik you can’t cancel an appointment. You can only change.

That's not true. DH and I both had appointments for next week via NHS booking for a pharmacy. We cancelled via the NHS booking service, and didn't need to re-book, as we had by then got a direct link to the GP service last week, and wanted to go there instead. Done last Monday thank goodness.

TangerineDreams · 13/12/2021 12:17

We're experiencing almost the opposite here. We have a clinic running every Wednesday and Sunday at the Community Centre and as well as appointments anyone can just walk in. They were hanging around yesterday waiting so folk were spreading the word on FB to get people to pop up, I believe I'm allowed one now as they've reduced it from 6 months to 3 months. I'll take a walk up next Sunday.

I think I may get a different response if I try to actually book an appointment though. NHS systems and red tape can make it a ball ache.

FreeBritnee · 13/12/2021 12:19

Yep all the walk-ins also have ‘no boosters’ available written next to them locally. So it’s going well.

Flingingmelon · 13/12/2021 12:19

Just put my NHS number in about fifty times but after two hours I'm booked.

Bit nervous though because I did this last week and when I got there they told me if I was less than a six month gap they wouldn't jab me - so went home annoyed and empty armed.

Where are you?
Nikita1709 · 13/12/2021 12:20

I keep going round and round in circles as well! NHS no? DoB? Immunosuppressed? Then repeat. Can’t get any further than that.

Luckystar1 · 13/12/2021 12:25

I’m in NI. I walked up to the vaccination place this morning, queued for 15 mins and got it. I’m 35. Our rules changed overnight last night.

Laufeythejust · 13/12/2021 12:26

I managed to book mine last night and DPs this morning. It was a pain and crashed a few times but I just kept refreshing and it eventually worked.

MintLampShade · 13/12/2021 13:05

Mid 30s, booked my last night for the 28th of Dec. I would have liked it sooner and trying to see if they have any earlier appointments but the "manage my booking" function has not been responding all morning 😩

Ah ok I stand corrected. It definitely used to be the case that you couldn’t cancel. Pleased you can now.
H1978 · 13/12/2021 13:58

Booked mine for sat lunchtime. I was 10550 in the queue when I started and within 10 minutes I was 5000 and then it jumped to letting me book. I’ve been trying to book dh an appointment too but it’s not letting me. The vaccination centre is only at the bottom of my street so I’ll see if he can just drop in.

stormy11 · 13/12/2021 13:59

I booked mine and my husbands since 11.30am today. Did queue each time but got through eventually.
