I've been taking the pregnacare supplements for a while, but this is the first cycle ive taken them everyday. Af is nearly two weeks late but I'm defo not pg. I've been dizzy and nauseous and peeing loads. I've read elsewhere that this can be from the vitamins, but wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

LandsN Sat 09-Feb-13 23:01:48

I have been taking them not due af till next week and having pg symptoms sickness light headed etc am wondering now if it could be the vits what ones u taking?

ImpatientOne Sat 09-Feb-13 23:05:23

I couldn't get on with them at all - mostly as they made me hideously constipated blush

I'm taking Sanatogen Mother to Be which are ok although still not bloody pg after 20 cycles

smellysocksandchickenpox Sat 09-Feb-13 23:07:23

they're the worst I find for constipation. the other brands seemed okay, I settled on sanatogen in the end which gave me no side effects

Yes! I joined a post about them last year and the side effects they can have. I took them for two months and had a very dodgy stomach on them, plus I felt generally lethargic. Really I couldn't have felt less like trying to conceive. I ended up going to Dr who said it could be mild IBS and it was only after that when I started to try to work out how my diet had changed that I realised the symptoms had started after taking the vitamins. Stopped them, felt fine. I googled at the time and found others had felt similar. Still no luck with ttc but I'm just taking folic acid now.

Hmmm. Think I'm going to stop taking pregnacare then, despite having 3 more boxes as they were on offer. I agree with the constipation thing too! I did always take them with food. I'll have a look at others.

Hi there. First time posting so hope I'm not butting in!

I had a horrible allergic reaction to pregnacare - rash all over my chest and really quite ill. I'm on tesco vitamins now and no reaction tho my Gp gave me basic folic acid too.

Of course it had to be the most expensive ones that gave me a reaction and I'd bought 3 boxes on offer!

Soph80 Sun 10-Feb-13 12:44:49

Impatientone - thats what I'm taking, 20th cycle too confused. waste of money?

ImpatientOne Sun 10-Feb-13 18:14:52

Hi Soph I did switch back on to plain folic acid for a bit and did stop altogether for a while. I started again when I got the Wellman Conception for DH a few months ago.

It makes me angry that the conception vits cost so much more than any others because they know we will buy them anyway and I've wasted far too much time comparing all the ingredients

I am seriously considering the £500 DF monitor as I reckon by the time you add up all the vitamins, OPKs, that I've we've bought it's a small fortune already!

Fairydogmother Sun 10-Feb-13 18:31:43

My Gp did say folic acid and a balanced diet was all that was required until well into pregnancy. Tho I think most people take a vitamin. They are massively expensive for no reason tho!

I had a tough time with Superdrug's own brand - nausea and dizziness, like you describe. Been taking Pregnacare for a while now, though and all fine. I take htem before I go to bed which helps.

Good luck!

I take Biocare Prenatal Forte. They're brilliant. They are capsules so they are much gentler on the stomach and are split dose (2 per day-one at breakfast, one at lunch) so you get a steady stream over the day instead of a huge belt of it first thing in the morning.

Pregnacare made me retch when I was first pregnant because they are enormous. Bleurgh!

Soph80 Sun 10-Feb-13 21:28:07

impatientone - whats a df monitor?

Skinnywhippet Mon 11-Feb-13 18:59:56

I've been taking the centrum pregnancy tablets with folic acid. They are making me feel sick, that, or I have a tummy bug! I'm not sure.

ImpatientOne Mon 11-Feb-13 20:00:56

DuoFertility - the lazy girl way of doing bbt as you wear a sensor all the time and some boffin in an office monitors it for you grin

It's £500 but they have a money back guarantee if no bfp in a year.

I really can't make up my mind and keep putting it off for 'next month' I am convinced I have a short luteal phase and our fertility consultant has basically said if not up-duffed by July he'll refer for IVF - I'm running out of options!!

Soph80 Mon 11-Feb-13 20:08:17

Impatientone: Oh wow, think I'd rather save my money for a nice hol or maybe even IVF at some point!Have you tried doing the BBT? I think I will start next month as don't seem to be getting anywhere with the OPKs.

How long is your luteal phase and how long have you been ttc for, if you don't mind me asking?

ImpatientOne Mon 11-Feb-13 20:27:06

Been ttc since July 2011 - about 21 cycles. I've done opks, Clear blue fertility monitor and bbt. Never really got anywhere with opks, only when I dehydrated myself in the middle of the day, which is why I tried the CBFM! I did bbt for about 3 months but found it very difficult to be consistent with it.

I seem to ov around day 16-18 and do get EWCM so that's why I've given up pretty much all of the other monitoring! My cycles vary from 25-31 days but I get spotting from as early as day 23 sad My max luteal phase has been 12 days I think but the spotting does concern me - I discussed this with the fertility consultant and he said it was no problem. All of my blood tests (day 2 and 21) are fine and show - as far as then can - normal ovulation.

I did buy some B6 vitamins but have never plucked up the courage to take them as so many on the conception vits have made me feel crappy!

Ask away Soph as you can see I don't have much trouble talking about myself blush

Soph80 Mon 11-Feb-13 20:40:02

We've been going since July 2011 too, is that when you got married by any chance? We tried the cbfm for about 3 months too but I got sick of it when it missed ovulation a few months. We've consistently used OPKs but I switched to the digital (annoyingly more expensive) ones this month and think I may have missed it again. Have still DTD every other day fortunately just not sure when to stop (DH will get sick of it soon lol)

ImpatientOne Mon 11-Feb-13 21:01:51

No, married in 2009 but did that smug thing of waiting! hmm

We really struggle with every other day and general timing issues - I was in a hotel 300 miles away when I ov'd last month!

I don't think any sticks will work for me as I drink a lot, pints and pints of water and juice! I think I dilute myself too much blush

Soph80 Mon 11-Feb-13 21:07:52

Me too, maybe thats my prob?! Right getting a thermometer for next cycle...unless I don't need to wishful thinking

ImpatientOne Mon 11-Feb-13 22:09:49

Hope you don't need one wink

setayharas Mon 11-Feb-13 22:17:25

Came on here to read up on vits and have oi web sidetracked by the cbfm. It's my first month using it and I don't normally ov until cd 18 on cd13 at the moment and getting a high on cbfm. But I'm gettin ewcm so already I dunno of I believe the bloody £70 monitor.

So it missed your ov? Maybe I'll listen to my body rather than that!

ImpatientOne Mon 11-Feb-13 22:31:40

Hi setay

Sorry for our hijack blush

I got highs on my CBFM from about day 12 then ov twice around 17/18. When it misses ov you just carry on getting highs until AF. Mine always asked for 20 sticks despite quite short cycles. One of my very few peaks was the day AF started one month which could be why it's gathering dust now grin

Skinnywhippet Tue 12-Feb-13 14:01:13

Back to tablets. I am now going to order some plain folic acid. The iron in my centrum ones is affecting my body too much : (
