Congrats on all the good news scans, and my heart goes out to amyboo - you're going through my worst nightmare at the moment. Just remember it's not your fault and there was probably a good reason for it. Hold onto that in the dark days.

Southernbelle you've just written the ME ME ME post that I wanted to write! My scan is next Tue also so I'll hold your hand if you'll hold mine. I miscarried at 9 weeks last time and at around that time I was very mindful of that fact. Now I am 12 weeks (tomorrow), the nausea has really abated, I haven't noticed my bulge getting bigger in a while and I can't stop comparing things to my 1st pg when I had dreadful MS that lasted well past 16 weeks. I'm going nuts that at my scan I'll be nearly 13 weeks! I'm taking small comfort from those of you at 12 weeks who are feeling noticeably better. I just can't wait to be able to start the rest of my life once this scan is over, either way.

I found you!

Congrats to those with good scans today.

Mine is tomorrow, and I'm SO nervous. I've been feeling normal for the last week or so - no sickness, hardly any tiredness, and so I've nearly convinced myself that something's wrong- Roll on 11.45.

Good luck everyone else with scans tomorrow.

hobnob thanks for the virtual hand holding ) I too had bad ms with dd until about 23 weeks. Trying to keep positive that this time I've been lucky rather than anything bad happening, but still can't get rid of the niggle in the back of my mind. It was quite bad this morning and poor dd was standing outside the bathroom while I retched into the loo (sorry tmi!) so am feeling a bit better that ms hasn't gone completely! Lets hope this week goes quickly and our scans will be here before we know it!

I've got a busy day looking after 4 under 3's this am (I am allowed, ofsted have agreed it!) and then 2 more who are in reception to add to the mix after school! Hoping the weather is nice so we can get to the park to feed the ducks and then in the garden as the new garden toys have arrived!

Good morning everyone. I seem to wake up at 5am now every day.
Ninjacat - poor you. I hope you will soon feel better.
Good luck for all those with scans today, or is it just you cies? Don't worry too much, I'm sure you are just feeling better because you are advancing in your pregnancy.
It must be really difficult to wait for the scan for those who had a mc in the past. I hope you will all see a happy and healthy baby.

Ideeanna thank you I ought to put some more up-to-date pics up.

Cies good luck for today (and anyone else scanning today) - will be thinking of you. There are so many of us going through the same mixed emotions at the moment. It is really hard, isn't it? The not knowing, the waiting, the nerves.

Anyone else got their scan on Monday? I need someone's hand to hold too!

Better get everyone ready for school now...

OOh a lovely shiny new thread! Morning all.

I had my scan yesterday and was delighted to see a very vigorous wiggling bean. Size is right, although they've brought EDD forward a couple of days. Much relief as last time DD was v small all the way through.

Couldn't help but notice that this one has extremely long legs. Think it might be a real kicker!

Any scans today - hope you all get good news. Have to say, that apart from being v tired and sore boobs, MS has really settled (touch wood)and am starting to feel more human. Definitely have to get some new trousers though.....

Southernbelle sorry to hear you;ve been feeling up and down - hope all good news soon. Sounds like a busy day for you. One of mine is off with the dreaded conjunctivitis, so a slightly quieter day, thank goodness. Have you thought about how you're going to tell the parents yet? I'm getting quite a tummy, so as long as the blood tests come back ok at the end of the week I thought I'd probably tell them next week - want to get it out in the open as don't want them to hear from somebody else. How about you Fruitpastels? Any advice on how to tactfully tell them I'm shutting for a month gratefully appreciated!!

Anyway, must get ready for toddler group, hope everyone has a good day, xx

Tabbykat I told parents just before my scan on Monday. I was at 12 weeks, I couldn't disguise the growing tummy any longer, especially with the warmer weather last week. I've decided to take my full maternity leave and start again with new mindees next year. I lose a mindee in the summer and as I work part time with another mindee, it's hardly worth my while returning back to work, financially anyway, and my ratio will change as I'll have 2 (own children) under 5, so need to speak to Ofsted about that. I'm looking forward to having my own children to concentrate on for a while . I'm sure your parents will understand, you're giving them lots of notice. I would have a finish date in mind and meantime maybe you can find another cm that can cover you for the month. Good luck! I'm sure I'll be seeing you on the CM board as I have a couple of queries of my own.

I woke at four this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I'm hoping at least it will be good training for when the baby arrives!

I've started telling people at work and it's such a relief. I've also been offered a big bag of maternity clothes from a friend which will be great. It's amazing how generous people are being already.

Just got back from my scan, and all is well in the end . We saw and heard the heartbeat.

The sonographer was a really fishfaced middle aged man. He put the probe on my tummy, then said "Oh it's too small, I have to do it vaginally." Said in a serious voice. Cue me nervously asking if this was normal at 12 weeks. He sent me off to pee and undress. Then when the vaginal probe was in he said NOTHING for about 2 minutes. I was craning my head around to try and see the screen, but it was a bit out of my range. Then suddenly I heard a boom boom boom kind of noise. I had to ask him if that was the heartbeat. Oh yes, he said. So, phew, it's alive. He then reeled off a load of figures to the nurse, with no attempt to explain them to me. When I asked him, he said that it would be passed on to the obgyn and they would call me if necessary.

The bean is only 4cm, which I think is quite small . I asked him if it was all ok, and in his best "I'm not going to commit to anything" tone he said that all the measurements were in the normal range for this timescale.

I was REALLY worried it was a mmc because I've been feeling completely normal for the last couple of weeks. No nausea, normal sleepiness etc. So, ladies, if you're like me there is hope. Some of us are just "brutas" as the Spanish say (sort of insensitive/crude/not affected by much).

Report
sleeplessinthecity · 29/04/2009 12:11

How insensitive Cie why could you not see the screen?? What a nightmare few minutes for you. So pleased its all fine..hooray.. According to my Preg book the bean is 3cm at 10 weeks..have you got your dates rights. Maybe that is what he was querying, dates etc..
I had to have the probe too at 11 weeks. The scan on tummy just wasn't sufficient.
