This is sickening and utterly depressing. Thankfully I'm old enough to have bypassed this being considered normal sexual practice but I fear for young girls today.

Some people like it. Blame the victorians. Many men I know like having it done to them 🤷

Yep me too. We are going backwards in terms of women's safety.

Christ on a bike, I'm so glad I'm a lesbian. Much as I'll be letting my daughter choose her own paths in life if she were too it would almost be a relief, she'll be far less likely to be coming across partners into this bull crap.

Ugh. It’s ok to like it but that’s very niche. Girls are growing up thinking this is a normal part of sex Sad

This 'defence' of 'sex-play' going wrong to get a lighter sentence or off altogether gives me the chills. They're just f-cking violent misogynists.
Reminds me of the old 'gay panic' defence when homophobes were literally getting away with murder.

Have many of them died as a result of having a much larger and stronger person choking them during sex?

I'll be honest, I can't say I've seen strangling males as something pushed as sexy or even remotely normal in quite the same way as throttling females is... Hmm

Monkey

It’s a way of passing a share of blame on to the victim. Like, it was her fault I ended up killing her..

It's not common but I dated a girl who loved being choked during sex (I'd not heard of it before!). I certainly wouldn't do it/suggest it unless she'd told me though.

I think the tweet is basically saying "If you are into this...try not to kill her"...which seems sensible enough.

Regards my comment above. I may have missed the context if this was related to a news story...In which case I'm sorry if I came across insensitive.

It doesn't even sound fun to do to someone either.

You're putting your hands round someone's neck to intentionally deprive them of oxygen, but stopping before you actually kill them. Oh yeah, real sexy and fun Hmm

Gross. Inexcusable.

And I won’t stand by women who claim to love it either. How the fuck do you discover you love being strangled during sex? It’s pornsick brainwashing and isn’t excusable under any circumstances.

I’d like to point out that in Chloé Miazek’s case the only evidence of a ‘shared’ interest in asphyxiation came from the defence barrister who claimed that a previous partner had said she liked it. Afaik he did not take the stand.

It’s going to end up a fucking defence for every murder at this rate “oh she wanted me to choke her” 🤢

It’s fucking sick and utterly terrifying, especially as the mother of a young woman.

@Andysbestadventure who gives a fuck how many men like having it done? Last I looked, this is still MUMSnet. It’s a worrying trend for mothers of daughters, and we are allowed to discuss it without having to think of how men feel.

They were drunk. Who knows if she could consent to anything. Probably didn't, no trust built up, safe word, signal etc. Reckless of him to the point of incredulity. Her poor family, and her wasted life. Terrible

I find this one of the most shocking things happening now - the thought of so many women being strangled during sex is horrific.

Anyone my age will remember the Tory MP who died during auto-erotic asphyxiation and the utter disbelief felt by virtually everyone else. Hard to think that a lot of people now are strangling each other for kicks.
