NCd for this, obviously.
AIBU to think that opening four tins of oily tuna is stressful? You get smelly oily tunaoil all over your hands , then you have to drain it into the sink (that also gets all oily), the tin opener gets oily and tuna-y and worst of all you have to wash the oil and tuna bits out the tins and lids. I asked DH to open them for me and he said I was being a snowflake! Who is right? He said I should ask Mumsnet.

Tuna in spring water is a much better option.

You should get tuna in brine or spring water

Why are you opening four tins of tuna?
Get ones with pull opener rather than use the tin opener, and it isn't that much of a hassle to wash the tin opener with the rest of the washing up.
Buy tuna in brine or water to avoid the oil.

No it is not stressful.

I hate tuna, the smell is revolting and I don't eat it, but it's not stressful. Just unpleasant.

It is very stressful. What are you making that requires 4 tins?

Actually i agree with you. My DH likes tuna on a baked potato and i always make him open it himself. We have the tuna in brine but it is still messy and smelly.

Why 4 tins of tuna, are you a cat?

Report
Quartz2208 · 19/01/2019 13:16

Why on earth do you need 4 cans of tuna. and if you buy it in oil you are suppose to use the oil (as part of the sauce) otherwise in spring water is much better
Also if you think its a stressful/upsetting task surely you are just asking someone else to do it means they have to deal with it

YABU for pouring fish oil down the kitchen sink - smelly and bad for the sewers.

I hate tuna in oil.

Much nicer in spring water.

But as much as I dislike tuna in oil I think stressful might be slightly over dramatising the event Grin

How is any of that "stressful"? Messy - yes. Smelly - yes. Everyone's favourite task - no. But for Christ's sake you're only opening some tins. In what way is that "stressful"?

It’s a smelly messy job, but AFAIK it doesn’t become magically less smelly and messy if you have a willy. Unless your DH has anosmia and you have terrible contact dermatitis that flares up if you wash your hands too much, YABU. If those are the case then YABU for drip feeding.

YABVU in pouring the oil down the sink (contributing to fatbergs blocking sewers) - you should pour it onto some newspaper (or similar) in your wastebin. Also, you are being rather a snowflake if you find that opening 4 tins of tuna stressful - do you have to lie down for a rest afterwards?
