The pornstar look

I know, I know we should not be judging each other but the pornstar look? Why would you do that to yourself, over inflated boobs, over inflated lips what is it about it that appeals to some women. I presume men are attracted to it because it screams sexually interesting but I cannot understand why women are drawn to it. AIBU

Because they like it?

YABU. Pornstars all look different for one thing, and women can do what they like. Your tastes aren't universal :)

Because it expresses their personality? Maybe they’re highly sexed and want to express it aesthetically. There is a subculture of ‘bad girl’ porn looks (Suicide Girls) which was trendy some time in the 90s. Maybe they want to date a footballer or they idolise Katie Price? If your ambition is to marry a sportsman and pop out babies you’re not going to dress in dungarees and milk bottle glasses with Birkenstocks can you? I can’t even see Wayne Rooney going for that one, and everyone knows exactly how unfussy he is.

I guess.

Maybe they’re highly sexed and want to express it aesthetically.

Certainly that is the impression that they want to give off I suppose whether it is true or not who can say.

If your ambition is to marry a sportsman

Totally depressing that would qualify as an ambition, being a sports star yes, marrying one, no.

Perhaps they're terribly unhappy with their looks and feel they need surgery, loads of tan, extensions etc to look 'acceptable'
Maybe they just think it looks cool
Possibly some of them have been sexually abused as children and this pervades their choices as an adult
They might fancy a shag and have found this look is the most likely to get them one

I could go on all day.

Probably because they're insecure and think they're ugly naturally, and are surrounded by people/messages telling them this is an aspirational look (like the girls on TOWIE that look more plastic every series)

I think it's a specific type of men who are attracted to over sexualised women, not all men. I will get my judgy pants on and say that I agree with OP, I think it looks horrible, doesn't age well, it's just too much. I don't judge a bit too much make up, or sexy clothes on a night out. But fill on fake lips fake boobs, tan, high heels, very low cut top for the school run, then yes, I do judge and I think it's really ugly.

Maybe they just like it. And what why have you deemed it a 'pornstar' look.

And aspiring to marry a sportsman isn't all that depressing. If a woman feels inclined to marry for money and fame then so be it. Not what I would want for myself or my children but people are entitled to make their own decisions about their lives and life style choices.

"Because they want to marry a footballer"

This has made me think... tbh I can't think of many footballers WIVES that have this pornstar look that you're referring to.
Think about it, yes a lot of the girls that appear on the pages of tabloids after drunken ONS with married footballers selling their story for £8000 May have that look but the majority of actual wives don't do they?

Am also not a fan of the over plumped lips, cheek fillers and shiny Botox foreheads. But some people like it and that's their personal preference.
It's an Instagram age and I can't argue that many of these ladies look STUNNING in some carefully angled pics but the plumped up reality just doesn't look quite right in real life. IMO.

why have you deemed it a pornstar look

It comes from a genre of pornstars.

Clothes are often an outward expression of who you are inside. And there are all sorts of people so they express themselves differently. If you are highly sexed and you choose to make yourself attractive to partners who are seeking that I don’t really see the problem.

Unless you’re saying there is something wrong with being highly sexed?

It’s all just a bit ‘women should dress modestly and chastely’ for me. No.

They are having surgery to achieve this look so we really aren’t just talking about dress though.

I think it might be quite a nice lifestyle being married to a footballer, and if not the divorce settlement would be good Grin

Because we live in a society which values women solely for their looks and this particular 'look' is very in at the minute.

Because they are vain and have questionable taste. Your question is no different to asking why do women like the athleisure look? I really don't understand it but anyone who has an investment in their appearance beyond being present ably clean and neat do so because of vanity, the particular looks this results I'm is just a question of taste.

I think it's seen as being glamorous and attractive. I work with a lovely, intelligent woman who dresses this way. She is not taken seriously and is passed over for jobs etc. Totally unfair, but she's not taken seriously.

It’s still an outward aesthetic. And it’s their body

This is all very ‘Young women! Don’t be controlled by middle aged men! Be controlled by middle aged women!’

If they are happy and they can afford it then it’s up to them. I find it depressing more depressing that some women are so keen to judge other women than I am if somebody has a boob job which is nobody’s business but her own.

But then I think the Take Me Out style isn't far off what you're talking about OP and that's apparently just how girls dress for a night out or something. They all look like Quality Street wrappers to me, too shiny and plasticy. Yes, it's a question of taste but all the dating shows (bar First Dates) seem to imply that's what women should look like. And don't get me started on the oily men.

I think it's a slippery slope to comment on how women look and why they make the choices they do about their looks. But you could argue that clearly there's something in our media that is making certain looks attractive, and why women latch onto it.

But generally it doesn't affect my day to day life if another woman gets fillers or dyes her hair. Whatever works for you.
