Yep if you ignore paying for it it's bloody marvellous

It's funny how the many of the things in there are what most European countries manage to fund, but somehow it's unfeasible for the fifth richest country in the world to manage to do so.

Jeremy Cornyn will be eaten alive by the EU. It won't be a "hard" Brexit, it will be a "Destroy the UK" Brexit.

To be totally honest,
I can't get that bothered by finances.
Especially when the conservatives have put immense pressure on public services, cut vital services to the bone and over a million people have had to use food banks, they've cut benefits and homelessness has increased hugely.
Yet they've borrowed more than anyone else.
Mr Corbyn has my vote

I think it's a awesome manifesto, I was really pleasantly surprised when I saw it.

I'm assuming you are all being sarcastic!!

It's completely ludicrous isn't it? Of course Corbyn has zero chance of getting elected so he can promise what he likes. Oh yes, let's add another billion of spending!

No-one in their right mind will fall for it thankfully.

SynysterGates · 11/05/2017 10:35

im not being sarcastic. social care needs more funding

I think, some of the ideas are lovely. In an ideal world, a mixture of Theresa may for Brexit, with some of the Labour manifesto stuff would be fab.

Aside from the free school meals, the free university tuition, the min wage hike, the corporation tax policies which I don't like, I hope the tories increase education spending as that is attractive. So far all we know about the conservative manifesto is that they want a free vote on bloody fox hunting.

I think it's bloody brilliant. If only there was a chance Labour could be elected ... I have been disappointed in Jeremy Corbyn previously and I would like to understand better how they intend for this to be funded. But personally I would be happy to pay higher taxes because we are fortunate that we can afford it. I would rather have less money for us to see a better life for others and a fairer, more compassionate country. If we let social care and the NHS continue to collapse the social cohesiveness of this country will be destroyed and it will be a substantially worse place to live, even for the rich. The sad truth though is that the Tories don't care, and they are going to win.

Again, I have to ask, what is "ludicrous" about the UK having the same kinds of funded services that other European countries have?

Report
NoLotteryWinYet · 11/05/2017 11:01

what's mostly ridiculous is that they are trying to make far too many changes, too quickly and they don't have the competence to do it. There are several policies that are poorly thought out, and the whole basket of them adds up to huge change.

Huge change programmes of any kind are very hard to achieve.

Totally agree LordRothermere. I guess that is in part the C/conservative victory - to have convinced so many people that there is simply no other choice. Tragic.

In contrast, that “strong and stable” conservative manifesto in full

raising pension age
cuts to housing benefit
hard brexit
cuts to NHS
fox hunting

you could ask teresa may about these but she isn’t taking questions .

SusannahL - Last time I checked, I was fully in my right mind. I have totally fallen for it!

I don't think all of its is undoable. At least it makes me hopeful that a Labour/LibDem coalition is on cards.

I think its great. He gets my vote.

I agree that it is really strong. I had no doubts about voting Labour but I really hope this will sway some people.

It will be fully costed when the official manifesto is released.

I cannot understand why so many people think that the right thing to do is to make the poorest suffer whilst a wealthy few benefit. Even those who are poor themselves seem to wish the worst on others around them.

Tories seem to be shitting themselves a bit now! What's with all the outrage at the prospect of a fairer UK?

Report
deugain · 11/05/2017 11:19

I think it the first thing about Corbyn's labour party I've quite liked the sound of.

What evidence is their of the Tories shitting themselves?

It's mostly splendid. The issue is paying for it.

Once corporation tax has been raised (and assuming that doesn't lead to multinationals moving) and taxes raised on the rich (80k plus - assuming that doesn't lead to capital flight as it did in eg France) there's £450 billion needing borrowing. Congratulations to condemning your unborn grandchildren to austerity too!

The manifesto just confirmed I cannot vote labour. I'd be voting for the decimation of my pension and the loss of my job. In fact, this may have just made me a tactical voter to help ensure the Tory keeps his seat in our marginal constituency.

Where is the money coming from for all this loveliness?
Hate the Tories but embarrassed at how flimsy this is for HM Opposition.
