AIBU?

to ask you to name my business..?

Firstly, I apologise. I know there have been a slew of these requests with the new year. But reading some of the suggested names, I was so impressed..

So, I was hoping someone might be able to help me...

I have a company that produces decorative outdoor screens and lattices. Up until now I had just been trading under a generic ltd company name but am hoping to market more extensively in the new year.

Problem is, is I have no clever name for the business.. At all.

Basically the business sells decorative/design led outdoor/garden things. Not just screens/lattices, but that is the core product. So I don't really want the name to contain the word "screens" or reference screens in particular, as we do sell other things..

Am adding a picture of one of the products but will happily remove if it is viewed as not appropriate/marketing.

Thank you!!!

The Garden Room? Outdoor Living?

I'm hopeless at this kind of thing..... I know what you mean about not wanting to include words that may limit your marketing or confuse people as to what you offer. There are a couple of websites about (I forget the names) that can help generate ideas - you type in some keywords and it produces suggestions for you.

Love the pic - wish my garden looked like that!! Good luck :)

Hi Op!
That picture looks lovely Smile
Off the top of my head:

The Other Side ( gives a nod to the trellis/lattice screens you sell )

The Garden Gate

The Inside Out

I'll try and think of some more.

frazzled3ds Thank you so much. I have messed around with the online ones and even paid some marketing people to come up with some suggestions but I am getting no where (and have no budget for it, sadly!). I just have zero creative flare for this type of thing...

Gorgeous Gardens

Screen Dreams (I know you said not screens but just in case it sparks another idea!)

I like Outdoor Living suggested by PP, that idea of making your garden part of your daily living space. That's the sort of thing I think you're trying to convey?

Oh I love these thanks so much.

As strange as it sounds I had also hoped to steer away from using "Garden" possibly, as the screens are often used on balconies, small patios/terraces in London etc. Not sure if Garden sounds too.. expansive?

FauxFox is your own name Sophie?

I think you would still call a patio/terrace/courtyard your garden? They do on Rightmove...

Yes.. I am probably over thinking the meaning of the word garden.

one of the biggest garden type suppliers mail order is primrose.co.uk

a very simple related name, but not directly saying what they do...
you need to make sure that you can secure:

  • domain names
  • trademarks (and that you are not breaching someone else's)

ultimately, whatever you chose - building the business and branding means that eventually it will be synonymous with your business - after all, no-one now would start a tech company and call it Apple, a telco and call it BT, a car company and call it Land Rover or Jaguar etc. - but the brand has been built on those names and now works...
