Once a week?

DS (reception age) went to a friends after school yesterday. The night before I messaged the mum to ask what she wanted me to send clothes wise. She said she would just keep them in their uniforms as it saves on the washing pile.

Normally when we get in from school DS changes into t-shirt/long sleeved top and some tracksuit bottoms (never PJs as they are for bed time) but just comfier clothes than school uniform.

When I picked him up friends mum mentioned that DS uniform was dirty because he'd got ketchup down his jumper. She said "no doubt you'll be doing the nightly uniform wash anyway but I just thought I'd let you know."

Obviously I washed his jumper when we got home and tumble dried and ironed for the next day but do people really do a nightly uniform wash???

I think nightly is excessive. DD tends to get through two sets per week. She doesn't change out of uniform when she gets home but isn't generally one to get too mucky.

nope - 2 sweatshirts. First worn til it's dirty then swapped. Sometimes she'd get the week out if it, but usually just 2 or 3 days, then dirty thrown in with the next wash whenever it went on.

Clean shirts everyday, trousers and jumpers changed when grubby. Have enough to only wash at weekends

I have to wash DS's every day (well, I have 5 sets and so it all at the weekend). He's usually wet his trousers at the very least. There's always dinner on his jumper and paint or mud on his tshirt.
DD doesn't get through so much - but she's 7.

They wear clean every day, but they've got 3/4 of everything, so don't do a nightly wash no.

I'm impressed kids can keep clean to wear 2/3 times tbh!

Depends on the kid.

Ds1 used to come home filthy so yes clean on every day.

Ds2 similar. Think they just rolled in mud and yogurt.

Dds pretty good.

As a TA though it made me boak when kids came in yogurt stained tops on Friday from the Monday lunch time. Also so many kids didn't seem to have nice smelling hair and dirty nails the start of the day. Yeuk!

Youngest has a full daily change as he's a filthy beggar, but he has oodles of hand-me-downs.

Oldest has a clean shirt daily and two skirts & jumpers.

Middle one has three pairs of strides and one jumper. Shirts as necessary. (Doesn't have sweaty pits yet.)

Usually I can get away with washing pinafore or skirt and jumper once a week. I don't do washing for washing sake. My kids, the two still at primary are 9 and 5. They wear the uniform 4 days a week. They wear PE gear in on the day they do PE. I washed my youngest pinafore & jumper last night, she's wearing it today, PE tomorrow but I won't wash the uniform over the weekend unless she's spilt her school lunch over it again

Clean everything every day here - he gets filthy. usually lunch on his polo top and then dinner on his jumper (at childminders). Wash uniform nightly with other things not specifically for the next day as we have spares.

My kids get clean uniform every day, but each have 5 full sets.

Mine usually need a clean polo shirt at least every other day if not every day - they have five each though so I only wash at the weekend.

Two DDs aged 8 and 11.

Shirts changed once or twice a week, depending on spillages/smelliness (sometimes ends up a new shirt every day).

Skirts/jumpers/cardi changed mid-week but have been known to last the full 5 days. DD1's blazer had its first wash at Xmas (after about 13 weeks wear).

We have enough uniform to cop with only washing once, max twice a week but usually with other washes.

Mine couldnt keep their uniform clean even if they were placed in a room full of cleanliness! So I have 5 of everything and it all gets washed on the weekend.

That is until they misplace a jumper and the whole system falls apart.

3 jumpers, 3 pairs of trousers and 5 polo shirts - this was what he had for reception and has same now in year 1 this last the week and then I just wash it all on Friday eve ready for the next week.

Ds2's is often trashed before we even leave for school and that's with not putting on it on until about 15 minutes before we need to leave.

So yes, he has a set for each day of the week, plus spares. No expensive logoed stuff, thankfully.

Mine get 2 days wear out of theirs usually, but they wouldn't last a week.

Two primary age dc have a clean set every day, I have received sets of everything so only have to throw a wash in on one school night.
Secondary age ds has 5 shirts and two pairs of pants and jumpers so he will wear each one once or twice and they both enjoyed get washed once during the week and one at the weekend.

full change every day for both the 6 year old and the 4 year old.

4 year old is only in half days (nursery) but clean every day coz he's a mucky little monkey.

4 or 5 pieces of every uniform item so they wear clean clothes everyday.

I do a dark wash 4 evenings a week because my work and gym stuff has to go in too. No point in letting it accumulate.

DD gets changed after school every day to keep it as fresh as possible.

One pinafore a week (any little marks like chalk or food wiped off)
Two polo shirts and two cardigans a week.

No way would I be washing it every day!

Wow this is so interesting. How different people do things! In our house we have fresh polo shirt and skirt/pinafore every day. We have 2 jumpers each that's used for the week unless it's dirty. I do wash clothes every day but not to be ready for the next day. My children wear their uniforms after school too unless they have a club.
