To be fed up of people thinking it is really easy for me to be slim?

Yes I am slim but I am fed up of the comments I get around me. People saying it is ok for you, you are slim. You just don't put weight on easily like I do, you can eat what you want etc

Well no I can't eat whatever I want. I am careful and that is the reason I am slim. I rarely eat cakes, unhealthy foods. If I do eat a slice of cake people pressurise me to have more because it doesn't matter apparently.

I feel like I am belittled and I can't know what it is like to be overweight. Well yes I can because I was overweight and lost it all and am determined to keep slim now.

I wouldn't criticise anyone who was overweight to criticise their food choices but people think it is ok to make comments to slim people.

YANBU. It's often laced with an air of dismissiveness and underpinned by ignorance.

Some people are naturally slim though and eat like a horse. I have friends like this.

I also have a friend who I always thought was naturally slim until she told me how she denies herself pretty much everything she really wants. I knew she runs a lot, but never thought she'd have to dent herself good too. I have another friend who regularly runs half marathons. She's nowhere near being stick thin, because she eats what she likes.

We're all different. I think people are just guilty of making assumptions because unless they know everything about you, they would.

You're slim because you've had the practice.

The jealous ones don't see the effort you put in and the self discipline.

They want doughnuts, they eat doughnuts. Possibly daily.

You want doughnuts, you treat yourself once in a while. If that.

I never comment on what other people are eating (I barely notice) so you inhabit a world I know nothing about. I'm quite fat but no one ever says to me "cor, look at you eating a panini" or whatever. If they did I'd just say "AND??".

Other people eating well does not signal good morals or anything of interest to me.

YANBU. I always assume that slim people having very good self control and don't succumb to temptation. I have never met anyone slim that eats what they want. Maybe very young people can get away with it but not the over 30's.

Why can't you just say 'no, it's not easy, I have been very overweight'?

I wish more slim people would be honest about this, mostly we are bombarded by people saying 'oh I'm just thin cause I cook from scratch' or 'i'm never hungry' or people who are eight stone going on and on about how much cake they eat and when you're working hard to lose weight that's not very helpful.

I wouldn't feel belittled at all, I'd feel smug as fuck to be honest.
Well done on losing the weight.
If I ever lose mine I'll be on cloud 9 and no one will piss on my chips Wink

"People saying it is ok for you, you are slim. You just don't put weight on easily like I do, you can eat what you want etc"

As well as being presumptuous, anyone saying such things is also being a fucking bore.

several slim people I know have disordered eating or over exercise. I've one friend who exercises excessively and eats hardly anything and if I didn't know her well, I might think she was naturally slim.

As someone who was overweight and is now slim, you have to understand the frustration I felt around people who are naturally slim - many require nowhere near the effort we do to stay so. My sister and all of my cousins (I have 15 of them)are UK size 0-2s even after having kids, have always been that size, and eat (and laze around) like teenaged boys. But if I regularly eat more than 1500 cals I will gain.

I have said that then they say but you are slim now, so it is easy for you.

I think a lot more people criticise the food choices of overweight people than slim people! Do you really believe it's a one-way street here??

No, she doesn't have to put up with hearing all about your frustration at all. And she says she's NOT naturally slim??

They love someone to take it out on and your weight is what they are trying to achieve,
It happens all the time with me I don't over eat and always leave food on my plate and I count calories. People love to make out it's the hardest thing ever but they have no self control and lie to themselves that they don't eat that much or that bad, it's just jealousy

In your situation I would tell people about the weight loss and how much effort it took.

Just say what you're saying here. Then you will feel less frustrated, and they will know that their assumption was wrong.

Not sure why it has to be a big drama.
