I also agree. I think they are much older. It has happened before and age has later been proven to be far older.

No I accept that, but some of the physics are like 25 year olds. Obviously it's you get children that look older but not all of them will look like that. Some of them even look like they have been on the weights.

It's possible that they are older of course, but every day on my way to work I pass two boys in High school uniform that puts them in Year 10 (different ties) - and they both have beards.

Plus DDs 14 year old friend (I know his mum) is a towering 6 footer with muscles on his muscles!

So it's not always that easy to tell.

I'm bearing in mind that the photos are from the Mail, so perhaps most of them actually are teens and the Mail took photos of the few who are clearly older.

My DS is mid-teens, one of the tallest in his year, has to shave. Still doesn't look remotely as old as these migrants - and he looks older than his classmates.

But again, it is the Mail, so hopefully most of them are young and not all males.

When I heard these children were coming on the radio I have to admit my mental image was not what I've now seen online. I find it a bit scarey actually that they look way older than they're supposed to be. Like WAY older!

I sometimes do a double take when I see our year 10s and 11s outside of school, in their own clothes. They often look way older than they are.

Not many teenager girls in the Calais camp.

I also think we've offered pitifully few spaces and should be ashamed of ourselves.

They don't look any older than some of the teenagers in my DD's school. having facial hair when you are of middle eastern descent is not at all uncommon in 14-17 year olds. My nephew is 15 and 6ft4 with a beard. My son is 11, but could easily pass for 15 because hes tall and developed for his age.

I used to work with asylum seekers and I'm afraid that adults pretending to be children is rife. Mainly because a child has far more rights under our asylum policy. It is a very difficult situation to deal with because whilst most of us would wish to give the benefit of the doubt in borderline cases, you then have child protection issues when men in their twenties are housed alongside genuine children.

I think Sweden had issues with young men claiming to be minors who were actually found to be much older.

I've heard there are children under 10 in Calais - why aren't they being prioritised? Or girls, who are inherently more vulnerable? Why do there seem to be disproportionate numbers of young men (with all the attendant issues)?

when I heard the news this morning I must admit my heart felt lighter - wonderful - we are going to take in the young vulnerable children so I was surprised when I saw the new paper article yes.

Why would you assume I have never seen an Asian teenager . My neighbours son, my friends son. It doesn't make a difference if your build is that of an adult man.

Also how does making an observation make someone a bigot. I actually do think we should help the children. For example that first boy with his brother. However 10 without a doubt are adults.

YANBU - the one in the grey hoodie with the red across his shoulder I'd say is a teen, the one with the cream jumper - possibly. The girl looking out of the window - yes. The rest I'd say are over 18 for definite.
