I'm always a bit meh Confused

I don't think her voice is anywhere near as amazing as a lot of the 'great' female singers that we've had.

I love some of her songs and am ambivalent about others.

Am I missing something?

And watching her on Graham Norton (who I love) on iPlayer, her voice really grates on me Wine

Can't be doing with her at all. Mostly because the accent she sings with is a ridiculous mix of her own and a fake American accent.

Skyyyyfowwww....

Skyfawwwwwl makes me want to run hedgehogs over my eyeballs but even when I acknowledge that she can absolutely sing, I really don't think much of the sound. It hurts me.

Surely it hurts others, cheese grater styleee? Grin

Her songs are basically all the same lyrics with a bit of variation on tune. She's dull as ditch water. Get some imagination Adele!

The thing is I can deal with her songs; some I tolerate, a couple I love and a couple I hate and I get that she's talented BUT...her voice really hurts me. I don't know how else to describe it and I'm sure others disagree.

I just don't understand Confused

I don't know if she's trying to be Dusty Springfield?

But her voice was so lovely!

No, I agree. Her voice hurts me too.

I like her and I like her music, but I must admit I'm a bit over power ballad warblers. The X Factor is always rife with them, as crowds seems to get swept up by them, and love them.

Cannot cope with Graham Norton calling Skyfaaawwwlll the best Bond theme of all time Grin

That's the thing; she's good, she's NOT St. Adele sent to save British music from eternal damnation etc.

I can get on board with a warbler when it's Streisand singing The Way We Were and so on....this is not that!!

Loved Adele tonight with Graham Norton. Must admit ive never liked Skyfall but generally think she's fabulous.

I quite like her but all of her music is just boring.

I just don't get it. She's clearly talented and people love her, I just find her voice a bit painful Shock

Her singing voice verges on the atonal; that sort of painful one-note bellowing reminds me of calving on the farm. The same old subject matter of every fucking song is totally wearing, so much so that I think she is a one-trick pony in many respects. She's not exactly self-depracating either, it seems none of it is ever her fault. I couldn't stand being around anyone so morose. And...whilst I respect anyone's right to be happy and proud of their body, I can't help but think her music might be less fucking miserable if she lost some weight and didn't speak so...horribly.

Yabu. Her songs are boring and her voice is awful and therefore I don't see how it can be technically great.

Songwriting talent = absolutely yes
Singing talent = erm, I can't stand it but others disagree

I think the problem is that there just aren't many really great singers around at the moment so someone like Adele is seen as better than she really is, compared to really great singer songwriters. I think she's not bad but music's got so corporate now that it's hard for someone really original to break through.

She's a bit Lily Allen, overhyped and not all that good.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't stand listening to Adele. Her voice actually hurts my ears. I can't be the only one she sounds screechy too?

Song writing talent? Confused its the same song rehashed again and again. "Regrets losing that boyfriend, massages own ego by telling herself he still thinks about her like she does him, but just incase he doesnt sings song to remind him she exists"

Destiny I agree that there aren't many comparable people in the spotlight (annoying in itself) but I was more confused by the fact that I was so pained by a sound that seemed to be universally perceived as perfection! Am so relieved that others hear the 'screechy' Smile

Hmm, I thought tonight that her songs didn't have much musicality - she stayed at the same volume and intensity the whole way through rather than getting quieter and growing through the notes...

She reminds me of dido. I can't see her purpose.. She has alot of angst.. She is most definitely depressed... Loved her to begin with.. But now? God I just don't think she's all that talented..
Love her eyeliner though, would love to know how to perfect it Smile
